I just installed the serpentine belt on my 2004 Towncar. I needed the installation tool to be able to slip the belt over the alternator pulley's outer edge. Once on, it worked beautifully.
Pretty easy! I have the service manual and it didnt say to use the socket handle in the center of the tensioner pulley. It just said to rotate it clockwise but you were left to your own devices as to how to do that. With this video explaining that you just need the tool for that single pulley I got the whole job done in less than 5 minutes.
Very nice video!! My father in law and brother in law said it was that bolt on the tensioner pulley that needed to be cranked, which made no sense when just looking at it, even before I watched this video. I tried to explained to them what you explained to me and they still thought they were right....until I got the job done lol...Many thanks bro!!
The best way to get any car to last for a long period of time is to keep the oil and fluids clean. Changing the oil every 3,000 miles or 7500 (if using full synthetic) will really help to make your motor last. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
My AC compressor locked up in my 97 Town Car, resulting in the serpentine snapping. Can I re-install another serpentine and bypass the compressor altogether?

Take a picture with your phone so you can see how the belt goes back on! Saved me a bunch of time.
Nice tip Ron! you could also draw a simple diagram of the pulleys ad route the belt around that. Thanks for watching.

You may be able to if there's enough room to route it differently. Your factory diagram might show you the non-AC routing path.

Thank you very much. Really helpful
Does one have to buy an appropriate ratchet, or it's provided somewhere in the trunk? (sorry if it's naive)
Gotta buy it. Standard ratchet should work. Most big box stores rent a tool to help if you need it
Epic video! You guys rule!!
What was the point in messing with the battery 😂
