- Three weeks ago I ripped a hobby and jumbo box of 2022 Topps Series 1 and sent 30 of the best cards I pulled to SGC for their $9/card grading promo. The challenge is to see if we can recoup the full cost of the boxes, grading and shipping ($488).

So, all that time to make maybe $12. Not including the shipping costs to send each card, IF they sell. Great video. I love the content, but it's definitely not worth grading all those cards.
Very similar experience here. Submitted 30 cards also. I believe I had a 78% success rate at 9.5+.

I ripped 2 jumbos. pulled Adley /299. Sold raw for 270. Everything else went to SGC at $9. I sent 20 cards. I got 10 10s, 7 9.5s, 3 9s. I am keeping 10 of the slabs for my PC and selling the rest at a profit. Not a bad strategy if the product makes sense and you are first to market with slabs of that product. Thanks for the idea. I might keep ripping 2023 and going to SGC to see how long this will last.
Sent in 10 days ago, I too sent off a 39 cards lot but of various sports players. Graded in 2 days. Now in post grading stage and coming soon! Great customer service!!!
I am most impressed with the over $100 in monetization for the content.
I did the same exact challenge and just finished selling all of the 25 cards. And, like you, walked away with about $20. Fun project. But probably won't do it again.
I would love a series to see you rip 2023 series 1 fat packs. send one/two cards from each fat pack. See the result after like 100 packs...as long as SGC keeps the $9. I just pulled a clean Vlad /199 (red) and Shohei stars of MLB chrome from one fat pack. Call if $30 all in for the pack, 2 grading fees, shipping, etc.

I would say that not getting below a 9 was a relief. My first submission for grading in early 2000's I got some 7's on Bonds XRC's and a 5 on a Joe Montana RC. but I didn"t understand fully what I might get on those cards. Glad to too the results and this video can help so many people to decide to send cards off ! Thanks my friend I know this is a series people want to see more content !

Your original video on this inspired me to do the same. I sent 22 cards to SGC and only 1 card graded lower than a 9 - I got an 8 on the Vogelbach Rainbow Foil that I sent in for my PC 😂. Super happy to get a 10/10 on BSA-PIA Mike Piazza auto red /25 though I won’t be selling it and it’ll be joining Vogie in my Mets PC.

I hope more grading companies have grading specials to go along with the release of new flagship products (Prizm, Select, etc)

Great follow up video! Now you should sell the cards and see what they actually sell for and do a final video of total sale compared to total cost.
Great video. Like how you did the end financial breakdown, most tubers won’t dare show they are losing money . I’m not much of a regular Topps guy, more so of the Chrome. I really like that you sent the cards to SGC, I personally hope they overtake PSA as the leader of the grading companies. I can’t stand everyone always praising PSA. I think CSG is really going to start making some noise in the grading market soon as they are really upping the grading ante. PSA hands out way too many easy 10’s imo, just to satisfy their perps!! On a side note, I’m also a big Bowman Chrome 1st refractor collector and this years product is horrible, off centering, print lines, roller marks.. basically sad considering the up and coming crop of talent. I’d say from what I’ve seen is that Bowman’s Best is the top dog of the sports card market, beautiful cards. And they are usually the least appreciated product, granted Bowman is Topps but they hit rock bottom with Series 1.

I just picked up a DK ‘21 Spectra /25 SGC 9.5 and it moves around in the holder the same exact way. Is this a possible quality control issue?
Outside of Chrome, you can usually count on Topps with good quality control in recent years.
Already seeing the massive amount of these slabs hit the market. Glad I didn't send mine in to try and sell. The pops are going to be insanely high on every card

I sent a bunch of update Witt’s and Julio’s to psa and not one dimed, ultra modern cards that were perfect, funny thing is a bunch of my ohtani, Soto and acunas did…. So I’m good with it…. Lol

If you had gotten better boxes, you would have easily made a nice profit. Imagine if that Rangers card was Gunnar Henderson? This was worth a try imo.

How's SGC compared to BGS or PSA as far as long term pricing
Everyone has their preference but PSA generally has the best resale value.
SGC loves their 9.5's, not worth it.
They sure do which sucks because a 9.5 barely is a breakeven with most cards once you factor in selling, shipping, and grading fees.

I refuse to support PSA and their BS upcharging. Where do you place them in the ranking as a company now?
PSA #1 (strictly because of the market value of singles), SGC #2, BGS #3, CSG #4. If it was based on preference SGC 1, PSA 2.

Yikes! Now I know what second hand embarrassment feels like. Influencer ? Hopefully everyone was just influenced into going anywhere else for baseball card grading advice. He really just said that insert is tougher because it has rounded corners? Then is genuinely surprised by 3 10s. Yikes!
How long have you been in the hobby? I'll guess three years-ish or under. Die-cuts and anything with non-square corners are historically tougher grades than standard trading cards. Due to the fact they are infrequently graded compared to standard trading cards, they can (and historically, have been) held to higher standards on edge grades.

And now you double down on the fact that you still believe those Ace inserts with factory rounded corners are more difficult to grade than those with sharp corners? Now dont get it twisted Mr. Good life. I never referred to "die cuts" as a whole. You said that. I was specifically speaking about the inserts with factory "rounded" corners. U don't need to be a self proclaimed "influencer" to understand the logic behind grading die cuts. Stick to things u know a little bit about. basketball , spite and envy. Oh and wrong again. I started knee deep in the junk wax Era. You were off by roughly 30 years.
Can you make money sending in overproduced cards to a third tier grading company?? No. Don’t even have to watch this video. Spend $18 per with PSA next time, sells for 4x SGC for only twice the price, no secret there
You guys know how cards get the bow to them does that affect the grading process like really count against the card if it's bowed
Gunnar Henderson has literally been the number 1 prospect in baseball for 6 months. That's VERY basic knowledge if you're going to produce content about something. Shame on you.
Plays for a bottom-tier organization on a team that is virtually unknown in it's own division. Gets no west coast coverage whatsoever.
@@RunGoodLife it's your duty as a "content creator" to know the basics. Otherwise your just a dude opening up cellophane and pulling out cardboard - there's no value there. You seem like a genuinely nice dude personally, but do a little research before producing - instead of just pumping out low-value, "quantity" content.
The baseball prospects list doesn't reach anyones' local news, we have to go find it - which is extremely simple and requires very little effort. Being on the west coast is no excuse for have no knowledge of the product/sport, if you're going to produce a video about it.
Do better or you'll wind up with no value doing bulk SGC submissions like 502 Frank.
