It shouldn’t matter what his audience thinks because it’s his stylistic choice.. the first thing I thought was robot, and that seems like a good vibe for the song.. it’s not intensely auto tuned it’s stylized with high pitch tones.. not that complicated and it’s kind of frustrating to see people complain about his style choices when he makes music for himself and chooses to share and it happened to turn into what he has now.

The lyrics of this song really connect to me. Many of us probably had a year that almost sent us off the edge and made us feel like a 5. My 12 rounds were chemo and it honestly does not feel like winning but rather relief that it finished. Last year was damn crazy for me.
I moved from the state I lived my entire life. Went to a new school right when I was going to start high school. My parents didn't have enough money so my dad had to stay in the town we used to live, to help with the bills. My uncle discovered he had cancer, and my mom took care of him during the entire treatment. We had to live in my other uncle's house before my mom could rent an apartment, and we had to deall with all the bullshit of my family issues. I fell in love and got rejected. Gave my first kiss and it was pretty shit. Missed my friends damn much and was scared I could lose them.
Yet, I discovered I was capable of so much more than I thought I could be. I got closer to my mother. Made new and incredible friends, and continued to stay in touch with my old ones. My grades in school got higher, I got more independent, and realized I could handle all of this. Almost two years later, I'm living the best years of my life and I can't believe how amazing changes can be. Of course I still have to deal with a lot of problems and my life is not perfect. But I'm trying my best to be better every day.
And everyone who is scared or sad about something in your life, don't worry. Things can, and will, get better. You are important and your life will be amazing.

I discovered rex when I was dating my dream girl, had a bunch of people who cared about me, doing great in school, top of the swim team, and more, but over this last summer I lost all of it and it genuinely sucks. Every time I listen to rex I think about all the times I was sitting in my chair face timing my dream girl hang up then play g-mod with a bunch of good friends half way around the world, laugh my ass off then go to bed happy. Damn do I miss those days
Edit: 5 months later, swim season is over and this Corona shit actually helped with my social life and I got my first group of genuine friends and am kinda suppressing my depression with weed and alchohol but I'm getting through it. I ended the year with 2 F's and 35 missing assignments, but this summer is gonna be great and imma do better in school sophomore year.

I've been listening to this song for about a year coz this makes me feel alive again. I'm not totally okay, I push away my friends and cut off most of them. I cannot control my emotions well and if you feel similar to me, for whatever reasons, I know you're not okay inside but your emotions are valid. The autotune just kills the song for me. He has a good voice he doesnt need to make himself sound like a robot.

I completely agree. The song was good and I love Alex but the amount of auto tune on this song just kills it. He's an amazing artist with an equally amazing voice, his live performances on BBC radio shows that! But this just.. Doesn't hit like his other albums because of the overkill on the auto tune unfortunately. Still a good song though!

so this song came out after i got released from hospital after trying to do something no one should do and its stupid but i heard the first verse and it hit me so hard because of how accurate it was to my life at that point and this song fills me with so much hope for the future and just gives me positive vibes. alex is so incredibly talented and his songs have helped me before hand and hearing him sing this was amazing, so glad i got to see it live yesterday at brixton 02 in london and i started crying as soon as he hit the first chord. lots of luv for this man!
