  • Nothing is working on HOT TUB / No Power To HOT TUB Topside
If your hot tub has no power or nothing showing on the topside controls, following these steps will determine the hot tub problem. Turn Power OFF when you test the fuses.
FYI: Also check the topside keypad wire to see if mice have chewed it.

I did ALL OF THIS before watching your video on an Arctic spas 4 man, 10- 15 years old. And STILL nothing on the display. Another videos I watched said there's a reset on the pumps or heater, could you elaborate on that? It wasn't in your video, but so far, your video has been the best. Any help would be appreciated!

Never heard of any reset on the newer systems. The reset is so old, I really doubt you would find it. Would say around 20 years or so old. Can you tell me what spa pack you have in that tub?

Thank you. The first tip, resetting the breaker fixed it and it's back on! We over filled the tub and then I scooped some out to lower the water level but i left is still high....why would that have tripped the breaker?

I've had the same experience. In my case, I assume that overflowing it got some of the electrical wet, connected to, or inside of, the panel under the skirt (circuit boards, switces, connections, etc.), causing a short that tripped the breaker. Once it dried out and the breaker was reset, everything worked again.
Over 25 years and a fair amount of splashing, water going over the sides, and a couple of slight overfills when refilling, the only time the breaker tripped* was the one time I forgot about it refilling to the point that water was running down the street.
*Caveat: Recently have had breaker issues after power outages. Details in my "comment" made separately from this "reply."

My safety service panel is humming like it always has, so it has power. I tested & reset it. It turned off (stopped humming) and restarted (humming resumed). Still nothing topside. Since both the jets AND the lights are inop, I'll start looking at fuses & go from there.
A couple of questions, well 3 or 4 actually:
    1) Are the lights dependent on the heater or pump having power?
The heater was replaced years ago, seems like symptoms were the same.
    2) Repaired air-actuation to the topside buttons once, again - years ago and it seems like I recall the same or similar symptoms.
    3) Intermittently over the last year, after a power outage and power is restored, the hot tub sometimes remains without power. The two breakers for the hot tub (main panel) have to be reset. They don't look tripped, but turning them off & back on again is the fix. Not this time, though I did try that, AND the safety service panel has power, is humming away & the GFCI can be tested & reset.
Could that be related to the present "no power" condition? Is it possible one or both of the 2 breakers has issues and only partial power is being supplied?
Everthing is old, as you may have guessed. Original Zimmerman panel from 1951. Hot tub breakers added, Safety Service Panel installed, and CalSpas "Fiesta" Model purchased - all in 1999. Spa has no topside panel; Just 2 buttons (jets &lights). Filter is clean, system backflushed using high pressure garden hose nozzle, and no leaking flow-shutoff thingys on the equipment, so I don't think it's a blockage or flow issue.
I'll come back an edit with the breaker sizes.
Appreciate any suggestions from the creator AND / OR any commenters out there who are DIY'ers like me, and know just enough to be dangerous (but are willing to try!). 😉

WOW that was a long read. First. Some spa packs have the light connected to pump 1 and some have the lights on a small clear fuse. Now they are so low voltage that theres no fuse or even connected to anything else. If the lights or the topside show nothing, most likely its a mouse that ate the wire. For your questions from 1 to 3.............#1 not the heater but maybe the pump. it all depends on the year. Plus, if the lights don't work and pump 1 doesn't work, then it's a fuse issue. #2 replace the Air Switch #3 really sounds like a contactor issue. MAYBE. Don't know the year, but Im assuming. Also, test the relays. Again. Not sure the spa pack you have. Make sure all volts are good going into the pack.

Hi there, mate,I have a balboa control unit, And the flow was not working as strong as it should. I thought it was the pump, The jet button when pressing started to stop working and just become to have a mind of its own. I notice once the pump started without pressing any button and once just stopped also. So because I was not getting much flow, first bought a new impellor, because the other one was destroyed. Did not solve the problem, still low flow. Now I have installed a new pump, And the same problem. So there was nothing wrong with the original pump. Now I installed the new pump today, normally it goes on PR for about 7 minutes then it all starts up normally. So when I put the breakers on, the pump was running on low speed, Straight away, that was strange, never done that before when PR is starting up the on process but is a new pump. The jet button stopped working again with a clicking sound coming from the Balboa control box. Could this just be a fuse problem, possibly. I am dumbfounded here. So now it is not the pump or capacitor, all new so , ruled out. The heating element is all fine and working, all checked there.

      @VIPPoolsandSpas  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

If it's a new pump and you wired it up....make sure it's wired up right. Low speed could be high and high speed low speed. Lol. If you got that? As for the clicking, test the fuse. Just make sure the pump has the same volts and amps as the last one and make sure the wires are in the right place. Let me know.

@@VIPPoolsandSpas Thanks for a quick reply. Yes all wired exactly the same only 4 wires took photos and double checked. So pump came on very low circulating water, 70% no water coming out, slightly better on high speed but still not the full power i usually get. After a while, the pump tuned itself off or down one speed ,and after a bit of playing around, the jet button stops working and just clicking sound coming from control box when clicking. Probably if l turn on after turning breaker off again ,it will work for five minutes and the the button just starts clicking. What I think is really weird, new pump and still low flow also. Is it still possible to be a fuse problem. What about relays, wherever they are and not a clue what they do.

I replaced the board and I’m getting power to the control panel. It’s not coming on. I unplugged the topside and still nothing. The only thing I have not replaced was the smaller board at the bottom the expander. What could it possibly be?

Breaker wiring isn't right. All wires going from the hot tub to the GFCI breaker should ALL be connected to the breaker. Even the white.

It's going to be the house side. Meaning. The GFCI breaker. That's if you tested the wires coming into the spa pack. Is this a new hook up?
