Regarding Jayce, there has been hints that he did the right thing : Salo doesn't breath visibly in the hexgate reactor while everyone else did/do, he seems entirely different from his usual self after being "healed" by Victor and he's more an extension of the Herald than anything else it seems. Also, Jayce isn't responsible for Warwick's rage at the end, I'm pretty sure it's SInged as Warwick only loses it after every other of the Healed are dead.
I was thinking Singed put (like injected) something on Warwick discreetly while he's talking to Victor. I haven't rewatched the episode but I should look closer.
Here's my crazy theory: - Heimer and Ekko are still stuck in the Arcane. Jayce was as well, until episode 4. In there, the three of them saw the future of continuing to use the Arcane. Something terrible. Jayce was given the mission between the three of them to stop Viktor (the catalyst) from making things worse. That's why he is so determined. - Ekko and Heimer will discover and learn a LOT about the Arcane, and they will develop Ekko's time-travel device. - In an extremely beautiful/epic scene, I believe somewhere in last 1/2 episodes, Ekko will reverse time - Saving everyone, or at least saving both cities... "The Boy Savior!".
I have a feeling Viktor is a neutral-good Necromancer lich with a heart of gold, who doesn't realize that his death will kick off the cyborg zombie apocalypse.
The line in season 1 "Is there anything so undoing as a daughter" just seems like the theme of the whole series. Ambessa's story line. Jinx's story line. Vi's story line. Singe's story line. Possibly the new Jinx story line. My theory is if Jayce doesn't kill Victor and doom all those people his daughter in the future was going to break her arm or have a cleft pallet or some such. Luckily for him he saw he could change that and all he had to do was murder a bunch of people. 😅
Excited to dive into this video! My Act 3 Predictions: - Definitely some 'downtime' between Cait and Vi after they have a heart to heart. - Ambessa mentions sacrifice as being a fourth Pillar to power, I think this show will mirror that sentiment and give us one more giant sacrifice. My money is on Jinx. - Ekko will make a comeback in ep. 7 in some grand way, much like he did in s1. - Time Travel? - Mel begins a search for members of the Black Order, leading us into another story to be later explored in the next series. - Ww gets at least one more hug. - Jayce and Viktor get another chance to speak where Viktor drops bars. - Vi ends on a win? I can't wait to see act 3!
Okay so you basiscally articulated all my big messy feelings way better than I ever could myself, so I don't really have anything more to add lol. Just wanted to thank you for doing these deep dives, I LOVE hearing your takes on everything, the passion just radiates through the screen. Also, yes I would've been fine with the show ending after that family group hug hahah ugh it all hurts so good 🥲😍
Like you, I liked this act a lot, even though it was heartbreaking (again). Yes, some (smaller) transitions and motivations seemed a bit rushed, but they didn't bother me too much while watching. Arcane was always going the be the story of the two sisters and I'm happy to see their (back)story progress a lot. What does worry me is the amount and complexity of setup outside of the 2 sisters and how little time they have to wrap that up in act 3. Ekko and Heimerdinger haven't had their story told yet and the story of Mel and Jayce seems too complex to completely resolve. I understand the need to set up for future projects, but I really hope they found a way to do that while still wrapping up Arcane and it's characters satisfactory ...
I have a theory that Jayce saw Viktor in the future and needed to destroy him, Future Viktor knowingly sent Jayce back to fulfill the base violence necessary for change for a glorious evolution. Seeing as how Singed said Viktor must survivor, we will see Singed doing something to create that
Runeterra is an extremely high fantasy and even esoteric world. Exactly this. I have seen a lot of the more conventional content creators/channels having some issues with the storytelling of the new season. However those who have knowledge of the lore still enjoy it.
I think Maddy idolizes and loves Cait. She also functions as an angel on Cait's shoulder with Ambessa as the devil. Cait seems to not respect Maddy in the same way. She's using her as a rebound and comfort during a stressful time. Maddy would never stand up to Cait the way Vi does.
couldn't have been more wrong lol. Also she was glazing Vi the first time she met her. She doesn't idolize anybody, she is an expert manipulator and great at buttering people up.
I am one of the people you mentioned at the end, overall act 2 represented a final break with the grounded storytelling of season one. I still loved it, as much as you can love something that destroys you ouch, and it was so beautiful, but part of it is leaning way too much into the musical montages and stylistic flourishes. I think the reason it still works over all is that they are trading on all the grounded set up of the previous season/episodes. We have enough understanding of the characters and world that we can fill in the material that gets summarized now. The shocks and turns of season one always felt like natural extensions of the story and world, whereas in act two of this season it feels much more like a writer team plotting 'moments'. it's more sentimental and manipulative. However, again, I still loved it and I think this show will turn out to be unique, when we look at how the industry is operating generally. In terms of the arcs. I thought the scenes of Jinx getting validation from the people when she acts to rescue them was enough to take her through the season and move towards a partial redemption, so to speak, without having to add more trauma. I think your musings on Maddie's motivations are also related to the shift in storytelling. In season one, the scene of them together would be a natural, humanizing moment that added a dimension to their world, that these characters seek comfort, or have private lives. But in the more recent style, we wonder what it's setting up, or what it's summarizing. Again, I love the show and the season so far. Extra thought: I just loved the many many moments we get of Jinx being funny. I mean she's actually hilarious.
My only gripe is that there's too much in too little time. It's clear to me that they are doing this to set up other potential stuff down the line but idk, i feel like another season was truly needed for this story, or at the very least longer episodes
My prediction/hope for act 3: Jinx goes into a depresso spiral. Ambessa brings an army against Piltover, who do okay at first, but then Singed drugs the Noxians up with Shimmer and the tide turns. Piltover needs backup, but Zaun refuses to help, until halfway through the fight Jinx shows up and inspires them all to join the battle They win, Zaun gets its independence, and Jinx becomes a vigilante defender of the innocent who blows up any Piltie factory owner or Zaunite crime boss who tries to use or abuse the children of the undercity, in memory of Isha
Vi was really controlling of Powder and helped her with everything. So Jinx let Isha do whatever she wanted with zero constraints. And the end result was her making a rash decision
I really don't remember Vi being particularly controlling. I just remember her being supportive of Powder and that she doesn't have to fight if she doesnt want to.
And when she does defeat Sevika- you know damn well our gurl would spit in Ambessas face and give her a full tooth grin just to piss her off before the final blow.
Jayce's title in game is "the Protector of Tomorrow" i just leave that on the table also the hexgem imbedded in his wrist connects him to the arcane so viktor can see everything jayce did
The chances that Jace went to a bad future are high. I first though he might have just been floating in the ether during the timeskip but the leg brace and whatnot indicates he went someplace physical.
I have a feeling Viktor is a neutral-good Necromancer lich with a heart of gold, who doesn't realize that his death will kick off the cyborg zombie apocalypse. Jayce was sent to stop him before he inadvertently converts more people into cyborg zombies... Right now only Viktor can make people into zombies, once the apocalypse starts each zombie will be able to infect others.
my only predictions are that victor will come back in a fully robotic body but he won't have any emotions anymore because he believes they're the root of evil now, ambessa will die sacrificing herself for mel (or something like that), ekko and heimerdinger will come back and ekko will have his time control powers. there are so many wildcards i have no idea how this is all gonna go down
I wonder what Jayce saw and experienced to be fucked up like this. On the same note, Victor seemed to kind of mind-controlled all the people he healed. He healed them yes, but they all acted completely different afterwards
One thing you didn’t mention. I don’t think Victor “death” (there no chance he actually dead) causes Vander to go wild. I think the doctor woke up from when Caitlin knocked him out and infected him. I do think the endgame for arcane is zaun to become independent. That will be the end result of season 2. I have feeling vander won’t survive, but his two daughters will help lead it. Future shows will then have an evil victor and/or red rose being the main villain.
Cait has been my favorite character since act 2 of season one so seeing the path she is going down hurt. The scene with Maddie got an audible "What the eff!" from me. How you do Vi like that Cait?
Eh, I disagree. The episode didn’t hit the right spots for me and I found the backstory really predictable. Nonetheless it was well done especially with how it tied in with Aira. But still, I think you’re stretching quite far
that scene with Mel/kino in a cave when she figure out he is a spy she smack his head and one of faces show Mel, so i wonder does it mean they just know how Mel look or did they act on her will already before, because in s1 when we still learn characters often people suggest that Mel is very manipulative so i wonder if it wasn't true why show it at all when we get different conformation in same episode or even scene that they want to capture Mel for her her power, little bit immersion breaking unless act 3 provide flashbacks that prove black rose did some shenanigans as Mel spy in s1, the Alora voice actor in arcane is voice acting in legends of runeterra Le Blanks spy with is very curious if it is intentional. As for Jayce his title in league is "the defender of tomorrow" and Ekko is "the boy who shattered time" so i think what is happening Heimerdinger/Ekko by touching Arcane learn how face work and Ekko get his lore cannon ability of time travel few sec back, whether multiple options is real in arcane lore now idk
I have a feeling Viktor is a neutral-good Necromancer lich with a heart of gold, who doesn't realize that his death will kick off the cyborg zombie apocalypse.
I've always felt there was something wrong with how Vi handled the Powder situation in the 1st, that i didn't fully understand and so couldn't articulate it very well until the 2nd. Vi doesn't know how to handle things she can't physically fight. Her time in prison earned her no friends, not even a single sympathizer. She just had enemies because she fought everyone. She came out and only physically fought her problems. The ones that required finesse all went to shit. Same with this season. She reminds me of this stupid quote from south park S13E10 "He don't run from fights, just from responsibilities."
I fully thought the acolytes dying was the energy Singed spoke of returning to Viktor so he can reform himself. Surely he’s not gone. I didn’t think they didn’t die just because he did per se.
I'm concerned about Vi & Jinx for the start of act 3 after the explosion. We saw in s1 ep 3 that the hextech explosions are actually huge, like it took out a building. Jinx & Vi were pretty close to the centre of that explosion & Vi also shielded Jinx from the explosion. In the wide shot from the front gate of the sanctuary, we see the magnitude of it. Maybe Ekko escaped the void after Jayce & followed him? Since in the last frames of ep 6 we see the explosion pause before the screen goes black. Idk, maybe i'm looking too far into it 😂
Do you have a sense for how much time you think went by between these first two acts? I don’t think they specified but with Jayce looking like he does I kept wondering how much time has gone by?? Loving this season and your breakdowns - so scared but excited for Act 3!
While I think Viktors death plays a part in Vander/Warwicks rage mode at the end of episode 6, there is one shot of Singed standing in the building at the end. Viktor didnt fully reach and heal Vander yet anyway and I suppose Singed installed his device while everyone else was outside. Sadly it would align with the lore and it would turn Warwick into the beast that we know him as in the game
Viktor has seen his death in the beginning of the episode if you rewatch ep6., right before the intro music starts. So makes me wonder if Jayce “killing” him was meant to happen… sort of a time loop thing, without which he wouldn’t be on the path of his glorious evolution. When it comes to Warwick/Vander, I’m not sure that it is only Viktor dying that made him spiral. I still don’t understand where the whole lava blood came from tbh. We forgot about Singed still being knocked out in that room. So maybe once girls left, he inserted something into Warwick that made him even more uncontrollable. He is one sneaky mf. He locked himself in, maybe knowing that he’d be found by Ambessa in the prison and that she’d offer to cooperate with him and to pay for his experiments the way Silco did previously. So maybe Jayce doesn’t deserve all the hate that he is getting for ruining the peaceful family moment for Vi/Jinx. When it comes to Maddie… don’t get me started, I am annoyed that her sleeping with Cait was inserted into this already fast paced season at all. I hope there is some deeper purpose for her character in act 3, like her being a spy all along or smth. Otherwise, I think this time could have been rather spent more on Vi or Caitlyn’s arcs and the consequences of their actions. Not 30 second montages that we’ve been given, no matter how stylistically amazing they looked. What I consider the only weakness of this season is how so much character development gets left behind the scenes. Not properly addressed. The time skips could have been a whole season of their own. So… I’m looking forward to act3 closing all character and plot lines but I’m afraid doing it in 3 episodes once again would be too fast 😔
I also think it was interesting how they explored the two-spirit belief system from Native Americans with Viktor and Sky. I don’t know if it means anything, but it was a literal representation of two-sprit
I dont know, i feel like im the only one disappointed by this season. It's ok, but after the first season i had high hopes. I hate what they did with caitlyn, and ekko being spirited away like that. Jinx needed a more compelling arc than "i adopted a kid so now im nice". Personaly, vander coming back adds nothing new to the show. Victor's arc was the most interesting but also done badly. Too much time was lost in ambessa when it could have been focused on Mel. I loved silco in season one, and this season weakens his character in my opinion. The new characters have no personality or impact on the story. I can go on and on. To sumerize, i dont like the choices they made for the characters, and even if i liked, they rushed things too much to make it believable. Sorry for the rant, i just really loved arcane and expected so much more from it 😭
Maddie was arguing for Caitlyn to undermine Ambassa so it would be strange for her to be her spy. I think it is just that Cait needed a distraction and there was attraction there. Ambassa probably doesn't like this because she would want to be the closest person in Cait's life. Also the way Caitlyn deals with her seperation from Vi mirrors how Vi deals with it. Both of them do things they normally wouldn't do but fit in their characterisation.
Could be testing her. Also, would really be weird if Maddie kept undermining Ambessa in Cait's ears when she is way under both of them in the chain of command.
I definitely think Maddie could be a spy. Speaking against Ambessa just gives Caitlyn the chance to play devil's advocate which could result in Caitlyn being more convinced of Ambessa's strategies if she agrees that there is sound articulable reasoning behind them.
Champions of the game are less likely to end up dying imo so Viktor and Vander will both 'survive', same with Jayce and Jinx and Vi and Cait and Heimendinger and Ekko and Ambessa.... Anyone else is up for deathhhhh
I think Jinx is not surviving the story. She wanted to die from the start of the season and tries to run away from the problems at large and keeps to herself. I think because of Isha's death she will start fighting for the undersity and dies for its freedom. Happiness is just not possible as long as piltover rules Zaun and now they are being attacked from outside as well... The "have you had enough" of Silco was a death flag for her I think.
Everyone being angry at Jayce is understandable but im confused as to why no one is concerned about Victor starting a hivemind cult 😭 Victor taking over Salo's body and seeing/speaking through him was super concerning. Salo and all the healed people's lack of their former personalities and individualities was another red flag. Also in the room where Jayce came back, its very cold and everyone else in that room you can see their breath, but not with Salo, almost like he's not really "alive". and then culminating with all the healed "dying" when victor died and letting out that creepy synchronized scream just cemented to me that while Victor may have had good intentions, he wasn't actually doing good for these people
I don't think there is any proof that they were a hive mind or a cult honestly. Salo letting go his bitterness and becoming a chill guy is the only real red flag but then Victor really did heal him. I'd probably be chill too if Victor sent me on a spirit journey and gave me the ability to walk again.
@ they were all connected to victor and all acted EXACTLY the same, all gave up their lives for the commune, all wore white robes, no personal quirks or individuality or anything. Definitely a hivemind what with victor being able to hear and see and speak through any of them and I say cult because that’s what it would more be like in real life, but it’s definitely a hivemind
@@blvcksabath2529 They do have different variations in their outfits. Vi also wanted her and Jynx stay in the commune without being touched by Victor so just deciding to live their isn't proof of anything. Most of the people there were homeless or fleeing violence to start. They are all connected but to Victor but thats not proof of them lacking wills of their owns. I couldn't really say that they all act exactly the same since only 3 get dialogue - Huck, Salo, and Vander. Salo and Huck have like 40 seconds of dialogue between them and Vander only 1 line after his change. Nothing indicates they share 1 mind though - for example, while Huck had no fear of Vander the others cowered before him when they saw him.
@ they wear different variations of the same white robes I’m not saying you have to be in victors little group to live there, but all the people that were healed and had his mark, no matter where they were from all just left their lives to live and work for this commune and nothing else. Salo’s personality admittedly was horrible pre healing, he HATED Zaun and wanted them dead, happy to let them get killed by hex tech but now he’s running errands for a commune in the fissure? That’s just so big of a change that it’s unnatural. Same with Huck who no longer has his characteristic stutter or meagre personality. As for them being scared of Vander they were more so just kinda shocked at the outburst but otherwise didn’t react to a giant wolf man?? They also didn’t have any reaction to Jayce levelling a GIANT laser hammer at them. As for the hivemind I don’t see how you can’t see that they are in a hivemind/collective, victor can literally see through all of them and use them as a telephone. And they’re all sustained by him, when he died they all keeled over and let out that eldritch horror scream because of him dying. As for Vander he wasn’t fully “healed” yet, I honestly think Singed shot him up with the serum when everyone went outside to investigate the screams
@@oberon9015 another thing I noticed was when Jayce spoke with Salo/victor, everytime we see people in that specific room it’s very cold and you can see peoples breath, and you could see Jayce’s breath but you couldn’t see Salo’s not even once. Almost like he wasn’t even breathing any more, and was just a puppet or a husk of himself
Long have we waited, glorious evolution activated! As much as I loved the Vander and Orianna (Singeds daughter) scenes in the fifth episode I could just feel the end of episode 6 coming because Isha was a character with 0 lines so it was clear she would be killed off. Also I mentioned on the last Arcane video that you may want to watch the Get Jinxed music video that was studio fortiches trial run for Arcane!
Jayce was Right. They aren't Breathing! The "healed" are slowly losing their humanity. The moment they come back to reality you'll notice Salo isn't even breathing, you can't see his breath in the air.
Most were not human already due to overuse of shimmer. They didn’t hurt anyone and viktor only touched people who wished to be. They were literally just a hippie commune.
Yeah it’s confirmed Caitlyn has rizz and part of why her mother was annoyed at Caitlyn sneaking back in the house with Vi in season 1 is bc she apparently grew up sneaking girls into her room quite a lot. So it makes sense that while Vi buries her grief and feelings of isolation and lack of connection to anyone in fighting, Caitlyn buries her lack of connection (mother dead, dad out, Jayce missing, vi gone) in some physical and emotional comfort with someone like Maddie (who also interestingly has the exact same eyes as Vi), while also not fully committing to it or feeling comfortable opening up
Notes: Silco being willing to sell out Powder and Vi until Vi's betraying Powder reminds him of his past--really good development. Jace is being controlled by the object embedded in his forearm.
S1 Jayce: shoots a kid by accident, cries; gives Silco zauns independence cuz he can’t stand violence S2 Jayce: shoots his best friend on purpose. Doesn’t try to talk to him. Leaves.
@@danielknoop8439 doubt it, too expensive, it does not matter what Riot says about it, if it were sustainable Arcane would not have ended, i thing that's it, you will never something like Arcane again, 3 year of waiting for 9x40 minutes and ~150 million budget is not a business model
Everyone has been predicting Victor's villainous turn since he first appeared in the show, but he remails a gentle hearted jelly bean. I'd hate for him to change. 🥲
"What are you waiting for? He's your dad too" definitely my fav scene in season 2 by far. Already watched it on a loop for the past 2 days 😂
Regarding Jayce, there has been hints that he did the right thing : Salo doesn't breath visibly in the hexgate reactor while everyone else did/do, he seems entirely different from his usual self after being "healed" by Victor and he's more an extension of the Herald than anything else it seems.

I think the boy savior is gonna do his job and then help us finish the war!
I'm sure the Ekko episode will ne awesome but itd have been nice to see him more involved in the plot rather than repeating his role from season 1.
Given Viktor's Jesus parallels, allowing himself to be killed and coming back from the dead to prove his Messiah status is on-brand.

Singed's role is pretty cool this season
my only predictions are that victor will come back in a fully robotic body but he won't have any emotions anymore because he believes they're the root of evil now, ambessa will die sacrificing herself for mel (or something like that), ekko and heimerdinger will come back and ekko will have his time control powers. there are so many wildcards i have no idea how this is all gonna go down
I wonder what Jayce saw and experienced to be fucked up like this. On the same note, Victor seemed to kind of mind-controlled all the people he healed. He healed them yes, but they all acted completely different afterwards
he had just come from watching act two
Dang, you weren't lying. You really delve deep 😅
Also, Isha aimed the gun at Vander and it is heavely implied that Singed used his serum on Vander. So Vander is very likely gone forever.
Loving season 2...Don't sleep on "Dan Da Dan." It could be anime of the year. It has the best episode of the year for sure.
😴😴😴 lmao jk season 2 is interesting so far …. Not bad at all but uneven is probably the best way to put it
Eh, I disagree.
When this apocalypse starts each of those "dead" converts will get up and begin converting with a touch any in their path, zombie infection style.
He's being manipulated by the Void.
I got chills
I'm concerned about Vi & Jinx for the start of act 3 after the explosion.
We saw in s1 ep 3 that the hextech explosions are actually huge, like it took out a building.
Jinx & Vi were pretty close to the centre of that explosion & Vi also shielded Jinx from the explosion.
In the wide shot from the front gate of the sanctuary, we see the magnitude of it.
Maybe Ekko escaped the void after Jayce & followed him?
Since in the last frames of ep 6 we see the explosion pause before the screen goes black.
Idk, maybe i'm looking too far into it 😂
I have a bad feeling Heimerdinger doesn't make it out of the Arcane.
Heimer is a Yordle, they aren't easy to kill.
Do you have a sense for how much time you think went by between these first two acts? I don’t think they specified but with Jayce looking like he does I kept wondering how much time has gone by?? Loving this season and your breakdowns - so scared but excited for Act 3!
you can look like Jayce after ~4 months without taking care of yourself, the hair and the beard lenghts are about ~4 months
It's Singed.
Viktor hasn't had enough time to corrupt Vander yet.
@mstrikerwildrift well yeah thats what I said
@@Creepy___ yeah... I was agreeing with you...
as soon as my friend thats a barber saw keno he knew instanatly it was not real
Not to be an asshole, but was his barber skillset integral to his deduction? Cuz that'd be cool
My prediction is that Mel we saw in the preview for act III isn't actually her since we were shown Black Rose person can change their appeariance
Act 2 was a great act, imo.
Sorry for the rant, i just really loved arcane and expected so much more from it 😭
Any Pantheon fan? Did Victor kinda feels like a blend of that and Isaac from Castelvenia?
Nah, Viktor is death. So death, with Singed so close. He´s body will definitly not be used in any experiment.
@ they wear different variations of the same white robes
I’m not saying you have to be in victors little group to live there, but all the people that were healed and had his mark, no matter where they were from all just left their lives to live and work for this commune and nothing else.
I'm fairly certain Isha is simply mute rather than being a character too minor to give spoken lines to.
@@akabuki100 Yeah I don't know why we would assume they deserve to die simply because their breath doesn't mist in the cold.
I loved and hated that ending? By the way, I would love to discuss the ending of the series with some chocolate, wanna join me?
Come on now, there's 0 chance Cait was close to Maddie before the "breakup" with Vi. She's a rebound and that's it
Yeah it’s confirmed Caitlyn has rizz and part of why her mother was annoyed at Caitlyn sneaking back in the house with Vi in season 1 is bc she apparently grew up sneaking girls into her room quite a lot. So it makes sense that while Vi buries her grief and feelings of isolation and lack of connection to anyone in fighting, Caitlyn buries her lack of connection (mother dead, dad out, Jayce missing, vi gone) in some physical and emotional comfort with someone like Maddie (who also interestingly has the exact same eyes as Vi), while also not fully committing to it or feeling comfortable opening up
Notes:
Silco being willing to sell out Powder and Vi until Vi's betraying Powder reminds him of his past--really good development.
Jace is being controlled by the object embedded in his forearm.
Still didnt watch Blood Sweat and Tears did you? 😩
S1 Jayce: shoots a kid by accident, cries; gives Silco zauns independence cuz he can’t stand violence
S2 Jayce: shoots his best friend on purpose. Doesn’t try to talk to him. Leaves.
you constantly mentioned _"future seasons"_ there wont be any future seasons, this is the last, Arcane ends next week and that's it
There will be more seasons in this universe and charakters can crossover so we will see some of them again
@@danielknoop8439 doubt it, too expensive, it does not matter what Riot says about it, if it were sustainable Arcane would not have ended, i thing that's it, you will never something like Arcane again, 3 year of waiting for 9x40 minutes and ~150 million budget is not a business model
@@danielknoop8439 Agreed. We're not getting all of this Noxian worldbuilding because the show has no plans for crossover.
Everyone has been predicting Victor's villainous turn since he first appeared in the show, but he remails a gentle hearted jelly bean. I'd hate for him to change. 🥲
Maddie's hair color is Vi's opposite hair color on the color wheel.
