One of the most layered and haunting and hypnotic slide solos ever... Gilmour has outdone himself

Thanks for your reaction and beautiful analysis of the song's meaning. I am a 72-year-old man, and this song resonates more deeply with me than any other Pink Floyd song. Stay safe.

A beautiful song reflecting on the slow transition from youth & idealism to adulthood and acceptance of the dreams that will never come to fruition.

No band like Pink Floyd, but you know that already!
Dave Gilmour doesn't get enough credit for his vocals, in addition to his inspiring guitar phrasing, his voice is incredible!

Very talented and very unique. I can remember so long ago buying Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl when it was released. How time flies.

🎼David Gilmour is one fine writer and musician. Richard Wright was fabulous on the keyboards, may he rest in peace. Nick Mason is a fine percussionist. Pink Floyd will touch you so deep that your emotions can be overwhelmed and you will either tear-up or get goosebumps chills.

This is a very special track for Floyd fans , its the last song on their last studio album , its a look back to their beginnings in the University city of Cambridge hence to reference to magnets and miracles and the river Cam , to finding fame and fortune . Its always emotional for me listening to this track

So many guitarists and other musicians who claim Pink Floyd is simple music and easy to play........but when asked to play it, they can't.

You make a good point, been playing the guitar for the last 4 years, I have another guitar friend who keeps going on about how anyone can Play Pink Floyd songs if your have the fancy equipment , I told him I'm in the process of learning a couple of Pink Floyd songs and that he's talking rubbish. Hes been playing for 30 years and cant play one note of a Pink Floyd song

It's funny, I started learning acoustic in 1961, didn't buy a Strat until 1996. With serious doubts about whether I had the skill and agility to shadow Gilmour, I started some tenuous attempts at "Wish You were Here," "Mother," and "Comfortably Numb." To my surprise, I discovered those tracks were achievable. Other than understanding a bit about the Lydian scale, (I studied but never overdid the music theory stuff), I found that Pink Floyd were using highly evolved and stylized blues progressions. I was lucky to have bought a Korg G3 signal processor, which was easier to learn and use than 16 different stomp boxes or a custom set up like Gilmour used and could afford. But the strangest thing of all was that the more comfortable I got with that material, the more it tore me up when I played it. Yeah, I admit to having seen too much tragedy, but if you're going to play Pink Floyd, be centered inside yourself and forget technical playing, play it to release the feeling you keep buried inside. It will either liberate you or make you face your own demons.
      "It's not hoarding if it's guitars!" ☮️✌️🎸🎼🎵🎶 ☮️

Thank you Sarah. I was moved by your reaction. This is one of my favourite songs by Pink Floyd and it almost always brings tears to my eyes. I am an old man now and remembering back to those wonderful days of youth and vitality make me happy and sad at the same time. Their music is special and very unique. Another song by them with great emotion is “On the Turning Away “, from1989 I think, the life version is amazing. Cheers from Canada❤️🙏🎸🎶🇨🇦

Nice to see you back doing some Pink Floyd, Sarah. When you get some time, you should react to more songs from this great Pulse concert. Any song will do----they're all fantastic. But some have that extra glow: Wish You Were Here, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Keep Talking, Sorrow, and Run Like Hell. Keep up the good work. All the best.

Hello Ms. Dengler, I recommend this song from the same 1994 Pink Floyd album: Here is the background: Learning the ability to communicate by means of language was the basic prerequisite for man's inventive creativity. This is the message that Professor Dr. Stephen Hawking made clear to us. David Gilmour of Pink Floyd, who was already inspired by Hawking in the 1970s in songs such as Welcome to the Machine or Time, came across this statement by the holder of the Lucasian Chair of Astrophysics at the University of Cambridge in an advertisement for British Telecom in the early 1990s. Incidentally, Isaac Newton had held this chair three centuries earlier. With his permission, David Gilmour incorporated Hawking's statement on communication into his song Keep Talking on the 1994 album Divison. Pink Floyd and Professor Dr. Stephen Hawking thus proved that rock music and science can go together. I hope you include Keep Talking in your channel.

There's a rumor is that if you play Pink Floyd's Dark side of the Moon as you're watching the original wizard of Oz, they will sync up so that the song you're listening to will fit in with what's going on in the movie. And if you look up on TH-cam the Dark side of Oz, it will be with someone actually did that, so you can judge it for yourself.

Two other versions worthy of a listen:
From "Live at Pompeii 2016" David adds a much longer acoustic guitar solo to the end of the song. th-cam.com/video/xPkTq-_C-3c/w-d-xo.html
From "Live at Robert Wyatt's Meltdown" David replaces the electric bass guitar with a stand up bass and adds a cello to compliment his guitar. th-cam.com/video/lgE-FNhHy54/w-d-xo.html
