it's odd, but I built and worked around a combined cycle combustion plant. It didn't have a giant plume of smoke coming out of it like that one you show in the picture. The only visible discharge it had it gave wad Steam from the cooling towers. Granted, the first time we fired up the combustion turbine, it did make quite a bit of smoke as a preservative oils were burned off, but that was the extent of it. the plant was completed in 2010, and there was no requirement for any sort of selective catalytic reduction.

I've been tasked with designing my own SCR reactor as part of my Third Year Chemical Engineering Design Project where I'm working in a team to design and entire methanol production plant based in New Zealand. One Thing Remains unclear to me however. what exactly is the Catalyst in the reaction? Is the urea used in the DEF the actual catalyst, or is it the metal in the chamber?

I apologise for the late response, however, in light of the question, V2O5, TiO2, Wo3 and MoO3 are typically employed. It would be of great benefit if you ever discovered the answer to your question and further information related to SCRs and still have the files. Kind regards.

petrol engine produces less Nox than the diesel engine.
