I've just begun using the Lok programmer. I too like the visual nature of the way you can edit cv's and settings. Thanks for the video. I also have a few 930's that I'll be upgrading.

Love the LokProgrammer - my favorite piece of model railroading equipment! It turned my least favorite activity (CV programming) into my favorite thing.
LokProgrammer is very visual. That’s what I like the most about it.

Programming a LokSound decoder without a LokProgrammer is like using a PDP 8 with punch cards…. Great demonstration Daz!!! The LokProgrammer is very intuitive. Well worth the investment!

In the UK all sound projects are locked to the decoder and can't be altered. If you try, you fully overwrite the sound part of the project. So when I buy a decoder, I ask the supplier to supply the full project and sound file so I can reinstall the lot if necessary. As for is a Lokprogammer a worthwhile investment, absolutely. For me, amending individual CVs is like hand coding web pages - consigned to history. And good as Decoder Pro is, Lokprogammer is far more intuitive. But of course, unlike Decoder Pro you are restricted to ESU decoders.

Have you played with BEMF settings for a really slow crawling startup ? I have a Lokprogrammer and am playing with startup speeds on my NSWGR Diesels, trying to get the same startup as the professional decoder installers.
I haven’t. I use TrainController software that requires a different sent up

Hi Do you ever have any issues when placeing the loco on the track and the Ecos auto loading the loco info to the Ecos?

@@ModelRailroadTechniques After uploading a sound file on lok sound v5 decoder etc and placing my loco on the main layout track the Ecos is searching for the chip via railcom but not loading the loco info onto the Ecos database?
With the V5 chips I've had a few problems.

Turn off the Railcom function in the decoder.
I think it is worth the cost if you are doing multiple locomotives. It's definitely not really worth the investment if you only have 3 or 4 locomotives though. Your time is valuable as well, and the Loc Programmer will save you time over other solutions. It all depends on how much use you will get from it.
Most definitely. I have numerous with varying version ESU lol sounds. Worth the cost for me
I don't know the cost of the ESU programmer, but I think I would be afraid I would bugger the decoder up because I am not to good with the computer, I did like the way you show the way do it., Thank you
Thanks for you comment. You really can’t bugger the decoder up. I suggest just altering a few CV to start with like sound volume etc and find your feet that way.
I have several ESU decoded locos, but have the generic sound. I do have the lok programmer, but I cannot proramme the sounds, as it is way too complicated for me to use. Ok, you have just shown us how to do it, but trying to remember everything, is just not a happening thing.I have to wait to get someone to do it for me, but there is no one local, who can do it, so I am still waiting..When I buy sound decoders, I always get it prorammed from the supplier. Oh well, I just keep waiting. I am 68 & time is running out, lol. Thanks for the video. Michael NZ
I have just found you channel and would like to say you are explaing things at good for people to understand, I have been using a LOK Programmer and Decoder tester for about 12 months and I am like you I learn by seeing what I change and what does, I also saw your Video with Nix Trainz and it was very interesting as I have just fitted a V5 Decoder buddy to an Auscision TT class and you have a lot more light features then the standard setup. Thanks for the time you put in to helping other modellers,
Thanks Wendy for your kind words. Decoder buddy is a fine product.
While the software is intuitive once you get it to run properly, ESU hasn’t updated their drivers in over 11 YEARS resulting in numerous problems requiring workarounds to make it work on Windows 11. ESU also needs to provide better support.
What sort of issues you experiencing?
I have problems with intermittent ops including “unable to read decoder” and having to go into admin settings to turn off driver integrity. When it works it’s great but there appear to be software issues. My computer has an i7 with 64GB and a RTX 4070 GPU though I don’t think that part matters much.
@@H5691j interesting never seen that issue. What cable you using between pc and programmer?

sigh....too proprietary great chip, but windows only software. Tsunami also good, and more usable for all Does not play well with JMRI
