    Wow, Pull both feeds from the breaker in question and the one that you know is back feeding it and see if there is continuity between them. No doubt that someone has tied the two circuits together somewhere in the house and that is causing the issue.

  • @mdvener
    @mdvener 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

    turn the other original breaker off, turn on afci on and see if you have 120 volts at breaker output in off position. if so both circuits are tied to gather, back feed each other. leave both go inside, see what is not working, find a spot where the same phase can be split, so each circuit can be independent of one another. its probably very close to where the arc fault area and non afci split, but tied together. no use spending an hour at the panel.

      @Petersonelectricllc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you are correct, this is what we did and there is another video that showed us in the master overflow room and the two circuits were split in the three gang lighting box and the red and black were tied together.

      I agree. Trouble shooting seemed to long. I would of started on whatever that breaker was labeled prior to all the other troubleshooting. Find home run and start from there. If you have an Apprentice you can track down and fix within an hour.

    Make website logo smaller or put it on the top or show it for 10 seconds every once in a while, not blocking the whole video.

    You don't have a Ground or natural fault. You have two hots from those two circuits connected somewhere in the bedrooms. If you would leave the AFCI on and turn off the breaker on the bottom that is also tripping you will find that it is hot when off.

      My guess youtube video theft is the reason he wants it there so much of it guys make bunch of money of ad's from stolen video. YT makes it so much work to stop them most guys don't have the time to deal with it so they just put these big logo's on the video.

    To find a breaker that doesn’t trip I connect in series the problematic wire using the same bulb tester that you use and shut off each individual breaker until I get the breaker that supply power to avoid continuous electrical shorts and time
    There are other ways to find the problem but by using what you have
    In my 45 years of electrical work I learned to have a open mind and taking one step at the time until I get to the problem

      @@Petersonelectricllc dude.. IMMEDIATELY you should not be looking for dead short by trying to trip the breaker.. you test for dead short on a circuit by disconnecting ground and neutral and testing with chirp on meter.. its still blowing after disconnecting ground bcz it's not a dead short. Your are crossing line A and B. Not phases. LINES. single Phase. 2 Lines..

    I will bet that the other end of this wire is connected to a 240 V heating element. It seems as if the branch circuit was not labeled correctly and that it was intended for a 240 V breaker.

    I am having a big problem with one of my GFCI breakers. It keeps tripping randomly, seemingly for no reason. I have had two separate Electricians in here who have opened every fixture in the problem circuit and they found no issues. After they visited the breaker tripped the same day, then magically quit tripping for weeks, then it started tripping for a week or two randomly ...then it worked for months. Now it is tripping again for no reason. However, one light turns on in my sons bathroom but if we flip any other switches it trips the breaker. So frustrating! Should I just swap the GFCI out for a regular breaker? Should I split up the circuits? and have the rooms separated? The electricians don't seem to think the breaker is overloaded and again it worked for months with no issues. Could it be surges from the power company? Local construction/temp poles? hoping you have an opinion here..

      Sounds like a call i had when it rained, a lot, I had this AFCI brk. trip. An outside plug had been attached to this circuit and when it rained the bell box filled with water.

      These breakers for some reason run warmer than a regular breaker, even with little to no load. I have had 2 separate customers call for the same nuisance tripping, both were afci breakers. I swapped them both out for regular breakers and they never called back on the issue. I’m 2-0 on this particular matter.
