    Bismuth can build into a hollow pyramid shape easily when cooled slowly. Would this affect the diamagnetic properties in the same but opposite way as a haloid magnet

    That's kind of close to something I have been trying to work out. I play harmonica. I have an acoustic experiment I want to do but I can't quite work out the test setup.
    On my drawing I've got 4 posts, like you have. There is a platform- it's operating like a reed plate would on a harmonica. The reed would be shaped like a capital letter 'I' (with the four numbs on it, the font on TH-cam doesn't show.) The nubs would have a hole so you could put the posts through it while keeping them off to the side so that you can still blow on the reed to get it to move. There would be a cut out in the reed plate so that the reed could move up and down through the hole, with very minimal gaps around it to keep it air tight in the rest position. Each set of posts would have a pair of very small spring magnets on it, and each end would be threaded so that you could turn a nut to compress the spring magnet. I'm hoping that will allow me to change the natural oscillating frequency when you blow across the reed. If I can set this up in a tiny box I can build air pressure by blowing into the hole on the box, forcing the air out the reed hole, and the magnets, hopefully, will push it back, creating a pulse similar to a normal harmonica reed, but with a much 'simpler' straight reed shape that will be much easier to experiment with.
    The problem I'm having is finding matching little parts that all work together. I have a theory that by changing the shape and width of the hole the reed is oscillating through I can create different tone types, and even possibly multiple tones with one reed. I really need to get over to my friend who is a jeweler and see if he could make some parts for me.

    i understand that it might be hard to get bismuth to float on a magnet due to the much weaker diamagnetism, likely needing a piece too thin to be of any use. however why wouldn't the pyrolytic graphite enhance the effect of the levitation when replacing the bismuth in the mechanism. i would think that it would allow for a larger space between the plates and thus more room to hold weight as the upper magnets were brought closer.

    • @SuperMagnetMan
      @SuperMagnetMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From my experience the pyrolytic carbon requires a "checkerboard" configuration to work. If you placed them around the other magnet it would be hard to keep it from wanting to jump over to the magnets being used with the pyro. It might be possible that if you had like a 6 inch diameter circle and the same magnets that you might be able to rig up something like outriggers with pyro at the edges that helps to stabilize the magnet in between the bismuth. Good idea - will have to give it some thought.

    • @SuperMagnetMan
      @SuperMagnetMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question - I did not specifically test a combination of the two materials but I can think of a design that would look like it had outriggers on on the ends of the outriggers we could have pyrolytic carbon pieces above magnet cube sets and gain some lift and stability over the bismuth. I will have to think of how to try it because the large magnet at the top puts out such a large field and I would need to get the outriggers out beyond that field and I am not sure if the additional weight of the outriggers would exceed the repelling force of the pyro. AND that is why we make things and test them. I will give this more thought and put it on the board.:) Thanks

    I'm still a noob to some science but what happens if you apply voltage to any of this? Or set the magnets up in parallel and/or another configuration by increasing the number of magnets stacked? I always seem to want to see the specific field an changes to the field with each adjustment. Also do any changes occur if you place multiple of these in parallel/square an then alter their directions as well.

    You can achieve stable levitation simply by spinning one of the magnets at high RPM. In appearance, this is superficially equivalent to a sort of room temperature quantum locking effect. Action Lab has a great video demonstrating the phenomenon.

    Curious,
    Dielectric mirrors, use interference based reflection(90+ % reflective),
    Has anyone tried using pyrolitic carbon or bismuth, or both, to create the equivalent of what a Dielectric mirror does with light only with magnetic flux /force?
    Next, you define magnets/magnetism as 1 force, acting as multiple poles(configurations that give the illusion of two poles, two forces).
    Correct😜.

    I really like the bismuth setup at the end there! But it seems awfully inefficient to use a huge magnet that far away. How about using a smaller magnet with iron pole pieces to focus the magnet lines to go where you need them instead. I would imagine it will be possible to use much smaller magnets. Or will this mess up the uniformity of the field lines to much?

    • @SuperMagnetMan
      @SuperMagnetMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Electromagnet solutions have been around for a very long time - the problem is that the frequency of the sampling from the transducer induces a vibration in the object being suspended because it is sampling the position x time per second and making micro voltage adjustments and the object has that vibration. THat is not the same as moving the magnet to the neutral position one time and then it balances that load and only changes if the load changes - hence no vibration.

    • @DJ-mj5pq
      @DJ-mj5pq 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SuperMagnetMan As with any control system, the feedback function would have to take the force function (apparently a function of position) as well as the mass and therefore the natural frequency of the mechanism. If a discrete time control as you have suggested, the sampling rate would have to be sufficiently high to avoid the "vibration" identified as a problem. Analog controls wouldn't have this issue.

    I have a levetating solution but for world security reason, I will keep it to myself. If I share my solution, it will make Nuclear war more likely as my levetation solution will improve the efficienby of Missile defense systems to 100% giving the country that possess it the confort to use nukes. So I will keep this out of the world until the evil men come up with it on their own. The current Mission to the sun seem to be a cover for Both Speed Of Light Propulsion as well as Use Of Flare as Missile Defense. I hope the Russians and Chinese are smart enough to know that is what is going on and Turn on their signal collection systems and decode the data as quickly as possible and develop counter measures as quickly as possible to save the world from evil men who want to dominate the world.
