I just learned that they do not. After i already wasted a lot of tries just cause i assumed that they did. Life is good.
i tanked the boss in the middle, i didn t know blades woudn t go to the boss and since i stayed middle i had to kill them all ;-;

For those that completed chapter 8, Amiya is a good replacement for Melantha. Because she deals arts damage, she killed the boss faster, and her buff is pretty useful for that sweet def boost. Vermeil is a good replacement for Kroos to help destroy the blades (If you have Blue poison, even better).

I don't know why, but W absolutely loves me. On her original banner, I got her in 15 pulls, on Skalter banner, I hit the 4% and got a dupe, and on Nearl banner, I got yet another W dupe. I'm not complaining, W is my waifu after all, I love her too, but it's just kinda weird.

If your Amiya is E2 and is high enough level enough during the boss second phase you can use chimera to kill the boss so you don't have to go through the trouble of switching around
I find guard Miya is better, no need to redeploy, blocks the boss. She almost finished him before she got stunned

I actually used her S3 to kill him on second phase. Right when he was knocked firstly, i placed Amiya and she pretty fast charged her skill thankfully to talent. Her damage on M1 should be enough to kill him solo, i used guards but defenders should work too
Amiya shreds through his health lol to where you can quickly focus on snipers
Thanks for your hint, I purposely farmed and promoted Amiya to E2 and after a couple of tweaks (put Jessica with dodge skill 2 as the last operator when the blades appear so she is targeted first by the snipers and then switched to Gravel etc. to allow Amiya to use the ability) I killed the Blood Knight almost immediately and was able to focus only on the snipers. Now I have also unlocked auto deploy and can farm Kohls. Thank you very much
One of the most difficult parts of this level is getting everything perfectly timed. If you don’t do it right one of your operators will die and you’ll be screwed. Took me a while to get spot to stop dying towards the end.

I replaced Spot with Nearl (forgot I had her and also whaled - second time I whaled in 1,5 years - for a 10 pull with an extra side of instant upgrade to promo 2... had to level her extra to about 50 though, or her stats were too low)... still have issues with Popukar, since I keep mistiming her ability and that leaves one knife to get through, which messes up Melantha... in the end spent the last three days grinding to upgrade Specter to use instead of Popukar - the only stronger unit with the same niche as Popukar I have, but had to push her to promo1 - lvl 70 to overcome the trust i had built up on Popukar.
edit: and to completely flip of the challenge of timing it right, I picked up a support Blaze at p2lvl70 to use in place of Melantha.

For me though "Activate Spectre's skill and let Whisperain, make it rain."
I found an easier way to do this if your defender is not 2900 HP like his cardigan, you can replace Click with Amyia skill 3 and replace popukar with another healing defender, when the blade spawns, deploy gravel or a third defender in front of coura after Amyia and the defender to tank the boss, it will tank the blade and blocks so that your range guard can attack it as well while being healed by the medic, then when the boss wakes up use Amyia third skill for Pure damage and you still have another defender to tank the sniper's shot
as the rerun is happening at the moment, for anyone that wants to replicate this,
an operator that played a big part in the second phase of the boss for me was E1 S2 Beanstalk instead of Kroos
I placed the crab in front of Cuora and between Popukar and used the skill twice in the run, they are a good distraction for the archers
it helped skip the 6:55 - 9:18 redeploy part: Spot and Midnight skill managed to survive, allowing me to place my Amiya to end the run faster

This level is such a pain in the ass, but now that I've finally pulled Cardigan, I think this'll be doable for me now :)
I got frustrated cause I kept losing because of stupid tanky boss guy so I switched out Melantha for Surtr with skill three and Eyja with skill three. He didn't live for very long.

Replacing click with amiyas skill 3 cut like 2 minutes of killing the boss after he revives himself
I used my E2 La Pluma in place of Pupukar. Since she has strong enough life-sustain, she can take care of herself while the healers have one less operator to worry about.
They can't even try to heal her, so it's even better.

I was struggling so hard on this level with my own strat as the archers were screwing me over with boss still not dead (he was always super low thou)...followed your guide and modified a few parts (as i had mostly six stars) and it took a few attempts but i managed to get it down. Since those bow man deals arts dmg when they hiding in darkness
Matterhorn might make it easier to tank the dmg
Crossbowmen deal arts damage in darkness, not the archers. The archers do elemental damage (corrosion).
or use beehunter s1 since she can dodge the arrows, i have s1m3 her and it really helps with the arrows

Thanks for the guide. Since I used E2 L40 Surtr Sk2 instead of Melantha and replaced Click with E2 Eyafjalla, I managed to take out the Blood Knight before the swarm of bugs and archers in the second half of the fight

when I first played the map in practice mode, the boss revive 3-4 times. I was like wtf but still managed to complete the practice run. Then I hit the real run, the boss revived only one. Then I read his info and yeah :D damn those bloodblade

I passed the stage by the skin of my teeth. Boss went into phase 2, while I was busy putting down spare units to take the hits from enemy archers, my tank by the exit was killed. I threw in my caster in a last ditch effort. Managed to kill the boss as he was about to exit.
Thank you Kyo, thanks to your help this is my first ever boss battle I could actually win. Although I couldn't defeat the Blood Knight, I still managed to pass the stage and finish the story, and that's honestly all that mattered to me, because the story in this event is amazing
made some HEAVY modifications to your strategy using Myrtle, SA, Blaze, and even Haze, in order to remove the risky auto-battle elements, as well as all the re-deployments, but the template was the important part. thanks as always for making these, you inspire me to try harder.

Idk whats more op than putting lee behind cuora and singlehandedly tank while dealing lot of damage AND reduce the atk speed of the boss

I manage to get to the snipers (minute 8) until Scavenger dies, then even if I activate the ability (at level 7) Spot still dies, and from there everything goes to ruin, with Cardigan dying etc.
I don't understand what I get wrong, I follow everything with precision and Spot is leveled to the maximum and the same for the skill... I don't have many other operators leveled (just Amiya lv.60 instead of Click, Perfumer lv.60 instead of Sussurro and Gummy to try replace Spot but with the same result) and most of them of 3 stars or less, I really don't know how to get through this stage...
Edit: By forgetfulness I put Kroos last and, the snipers killing her before the caster, Spot had time to survive. But if down below things went according to plan this time for some reason overhead enemies have massed and the Blood Knight and another enemy have passed... This time I passed the stage (even if by pure luck), however, meh ...
Final edit: After reading a comment about skill 3 of Amiya I purposely farmed and promoted Amiya to E2 and after a couple of tweaks (put Jessica with dodge skill 2 as the last operator when the blades appear so she is targeted first by the snipers and then switched to Gravel etc. to allow Amiya to use the skill) I killed the Blood Knight almost immediately and was able to focus only on the snipers. Spot still died but now I had Cardigan completely free to deal with their shots. Now I have also unlocked auto deploy and can farm Kohls. I am very grateful to the one who posted that comment and I hope it will help those who like me have continually had bad luck in the implementation of the second part of this video.

Again tqsm for the past few months on the guides, it helps a lot for me, especially tough stages these days
this level is indeed very difficult 30 times repeating with the strategy used by Kyo and I slightly changed the strategy to replace melanta with nearl alter E1 LV 80 s1, midnight with arene E2 LV 25 S2, click with amiya E2 LV 25 S3. and quite effective even though the cost is a bit annoying.

For the people that are having some trouble, what I did on my baby alt account is to deploy cuora last instead of cardigan. I had a stronger sniper than kroos so the blades died a little faster. Also, I would recommend activating Cuora's skill when the boss goes into phase 2. For some reason the boss occasionally targets Cuora (don't know why). Without skill she can't live. If you activate it on time you can get it back up again to tank the archers again.

God, there's just so much going on with this!
The utter dread when you hear Kyo go "Ok, this one is quite hard", like.... FML, I can't manage even basic rounds without guides. What hope do the rest of us have?!
Edit: Also the fine tradition of trying to swap in 6*s (Surtr) and failing, because I don't have a good enough grasp of all the tactics involved ._.
Edit 2: Also in the fine tradition of 'follow the guide exactly and STILL get screwed over because of the exact timing requirements.' As soon as the Armourless archers start turning up en mass, everything goes to hell. I have the EXACT same level and trust 3*s and yet Spot seems to get nuked before I can swap Gravel in the 2nd time to take aggro.
Edit 3: Scraped a win with 23/24, Blood Knight just walked through in the end because Spot kept dying too early, the Armourless picked whatever target they wanted, and Cardigan got stunned. Such a frustrating map, and I have no idea what units to swap in and what tactics to use otherwise -_-
Timings are extremely vital to a lo of low rarity clears, not to mention DP. So if you don't have a way of working through both, it will always become agony to try and replicate the clear with slightly higher rarity units.
A tip for anyone who needs to buy extra time stalling the boss, if you have blemishine as your medic defender and mudrock as your second defender they both can consistently tank the boss and stall for as long as you need, this combo is so good that even if you dont do anything eventually they'll just outright kill the boss because they just have so much sustain

Ya can't really block or stall Frostnova, ya either burn her down, or she one shots your crew... here ya just put 2 tanky guards hugging each other and 2 healers and it's GG for Blood Knight

A gloompincer leaks at the bottom and then the boss leaks at the top. Don't know why. none of my people went down so why was the boss able to just walk out? He stunlocked my defender but Melantha should have kept him from leaving, right? She's been doing it for about five minutes by that point...
As for the gloompincer... I guess Lapland's dps isn't high enough? But isn't she way stronger than Midnight?

You have no idea how much Sanity I lost to this stage. And by Sanity, I mean my REAL sanity
you can use bubble instead of cuora, which should skip the steps involving spot, scavenger and gravel (i think)
(edit: only for the first wave of archers, the skill doesn't last long enough to cover all waves 😭
you should still deploy spot, but bubble can fend off the attack from spot up to a certain point which could make things easier
i want to cry.
Translated, the blue archers are the real boss here.
Edit: after I went mad with this stage I understood three things:
-To stall the knight U need both of the operators to have at least more than 2000 hp.
-Replacing Kroos with a wandering medic and avoiding to retreat her can help to hold the botton lane to some extent.
-If you have a decent caster then replacing the ranged guard with another AoE guard could help to hold the bottom lane in case it gets too crowded.
Lotta people said, but Guard Amiya is a Godsend in this stage... Also one round of Eyja Volcano does the trick pretty nicely

fun fact: you can make Blood Knight miss his skill using Chen S3 or Guard Amiya S2, because the boss skill is projectile based.

Yup,it is very painful to play with this current squad,it is still able to win but risky.That I use similiar low squad to play with,getting stuck forever almost a whole midnight until morning ,sacrifice my whole night sleep just to get this first clear op to enable auto deploy....yeah it sucks.

... well, the boss randomly got past the stalling late in the level, so I checked and... I do not need loxic kohl!
Using Bubble S2 to taunt archers lets your Caster survive for way longer and if you use Caster Amiya S3 you can delete the boss.
That way you only need to worry about your ranged guard.
Wait, bubble s2 taunts the archers? Or you mean using it after setting her up as the bait for them?

Those blue archers’ attacks rack up Corrosion Damage. Once that fills up, the victim PERMANENTLY loses 100 DEF.
My Scavanger always get executed by those Nightzmora, why?
@@tempota7792 it was before the archer comes out, after the boss wakes up after spawning the sword he always one shot my defender if he target them instead of Melantha, I figured out a way to kill him though with Amyia skill 3 instead of click
Im lacking with magic dps. Lvl 53 amiya is still lacking so much. I cant replace her, I dont have click nor resources to invest again with some operator
I can't get 3 stars but even completing it using this strategy is enough for me

I think Amiya skill 3 is ok than Click , should be used after BK respawn .Only takes half of the skill then can assist in killing other enemies . This is better because when Auto Deployment you won't have " error risk detected " problem. Good luck everyone

Would love to use this as auto if it wasn't so much slower than my scuffed solution, I hate that the only x2 mission on NL-10 needs you to starve him of blades.

so my surtr accidentally killed the boss on the second stage in a few seconds and i was really confused lmao
This stage is way too hard for me, I just let the blood knight leak and cleared the rest of the stage to do 2* and complete the story
So my Melantha is dying too quickly right after the boss gets up, healers aren't healing her in time (most likely bc I just got them up to date for the squad that Kyo mentioned and they barely have Trust bonus nor does Susurro have her full potential), any idea of what I could put there in a somewhat short time that could help?
Other healers that I have at E1 outside of the ones recommended for the squad are Nightingale, Shining, Myrrh, Ansel and Hibiscus.
i used beagle instead of cardigan, shes maxed but still dies to boss after revive. how should i fix this? do i need to level cardigan
I'm not sure if it work but replace cardi with cuora and use beagle in cuora's place, she should be able to block the boades

Ok, this stage doesn't seem hard, it's just that the Gimmick it's interesting, but annoying as hell. This plus this single special ability of the boss that makes him nasty instead of hard.
THERE, DONE. Oh my- Dude, the only thing that maked this stage hard for me was to his Stun alone and those Shadow Guards, i would say they already bad, but that was skill issue alone and unmanagement of the light. His Phase 2 was easier once i used the Stalling strategy and placed my Defenders similarly to the formation Kyo used and it really ended up pretty easy.
this one is easier than the previous two. But maybe that's just me using eunectes to stall the boss
I'm having an issue with the boss not staying locked between my guard and the defender near the blue zone. The boss keeps scooching forwards then eventually just stuns and walks away. Ive tried using Saria, Blemishine and Cardigan...
Probably something to do with the unit placement. You'd have to deploy the defender right as he's halwfay through the tile behind your damage dealer to push him back into your guard and hopefully keeping snug there.

This is my first Kohl Stage that really makes me grit my teeth. I had to rely solely on my Hoshiguma's RNG talent to take those cowards arrows, while making that my Spectre were able to get up on time from being stunned (she's in Melantha's place. I had poor deployment time) using Whisperain.
Next: I'll let Sesa takes Kroos's place to kill those damned blades.
Yea uhh... This event is really uneventfully hard with Deadly enemy and hard to deal with boss (The sole fact that the boss do a beeline to box just make it 10 times worse)
I don't have Cuora can I use Liskarm or Ashlock?

can someone with a bigger brain than me enplane why Kyo put the defenders in the order? the defender blocking the blades was at way less risk from the corrosion damage, for me at least. my team was way better at killing the blades (thorns S3, Blue poison, and La pluma, rather than midnight, kroos, and Popukar) but i just found the boss way harder to deal with.
I don't know for certain, but it's probably to avoid tankiest defender stealing heals from the stalling defender
I tried to deploy Cuora as last too, but the snipers just melts her DEF so the blades will do more damage, and in that case medics will not focus on the 2 operators who are stalling the boss.
Ofc if your defenders are strong enough is ok

They will attack *all* operators with a *dark tile directly behind them,* so make sure to either light those tiles up before placing them or make them face to an opposite direction of an already lit tile.
