As a Scouter of 20+ years I appreciate what you have done here. Also, I can "read" your uniform and am impressed.

Thank you for the kind comment. I truly appreciate it and I hope you enjoyed the video. Besides being very interesting, I think it is important to know the history. I debated whether to wear the uniform of not for the video, so it is good to get some feedback. I too have many years of participation and service in the scouting program. I have been a leader since the fall of 2006. Thank you for you service. Feel free to share the video with your fellow scouters and the scouts too. YIS

Great lesson! Thanks. I have two letters written by Dan Beard to my father in 1929 and 1930. In one of them he mentions Victor Aures who was an artist friend of my dads who illustrated the 1937 Boy Scout handbook. And in the other was a "Top Notch" award given to my father and signed by Dan Beard. Great memories!

That is such cool history. Thank you for sharing. I think many would find it hard to believe that it was not that long ago.

    Commenting for the TH-cam algorithm.
It makes me really happy that you're getting so many views, and you absolutely deserve it. You're one of my favorite teachers :).

I can honestly say I'm honored to be a scout.

You know this was all before people thought scouting was hokey.

@@thehistorygeekdidyouknow3359 I am dude. I always like meeting other people who were in scouts. They always seem to have some cool project they're working on.

Nice video. I was involved with the Boy Scouts as a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, and Explorer. also I worked as a camp counselor both here in the US and in Germany when I was stationed there with the USAF during the 60s. What a wonderful organization! I regret so much that our loss of moral values has brought another wonderful movement down.

Thank you for the message. The movement has experienced some difficulties. I too was a Cub Scout and a Boy Scout and share your love for the organization. I hope you check out some of my other videos and enjoy those as well. Thank you again.

Wasn't expecting another video so soon, but, I can always use more History knowledge! I actually never knew how the Boy Scouts got started, this was a very interesting subject! Looking out for more, as per usual!

We should also credit George Eastman. He was highly criticized for "culture appropriation" but none the less, he was instrumental in the development of the scouts.

When I was Boy Scout age I could not join up because I was a professed atheist and the BSA had a very stringent religious requirement. Not only belief in God but church attendance were required. I was later place in a special school that required Scout membership of all students. So I was essentially drafted into the BSA😂

I have subscribed to your channel and plan to look at your videos to see if they’re all as sanitized as the Boy Scout narrative you presented. I think the BSA is a wonderful organization, BUT , if you gonna tell it…TELL IT ALL. Like how the BSA didn’t fully integrate till what 1974. I’m just saying even the BSA reflects the struggles of our American Family.

Hello Victor! Thank you for the comment. I believe you have misunderstood the purpose of the video. Nothing was deliberately sanitize here. Telling it all, at one time, is a different format with a much longer video. This was a BRIEF history of the founding the BSA. Perhaps I will explore other history at a later date. I hope you enjoyed the video.
