The TSW screens are just glorified Android tablets. Depending in on the model you either need to SSH into the screen or log into it's web management and tell it to launch the browser application (Chrome). Once in Chrome goto the settings and set the homepage to the URL of your Home Assistant dashboard; then relaunch the browser in Kiosk mode. There is no need for a Crestron processor or their stupid walled garden of software. Honestly there are dozens of better tablets out there but the 'pro aesthetic' and the PoE capability on the TSW is nice, however support is non-existent for the hobbyist and the little documentation published is incomplete.

  • @TheGamingArt

The Crestron TSW-1060-B-S model does seem cheap. Where did you buy yours from?
And are you running home assistant on it or Cresteon software (which contradicts this whole video).

On the leaving script, how do you account for closing the garage doors? Do you manually do it or did you script that? I think you are violating electrical code. As of 2017, there are rules about running power over ethernet. One of them is not to chase the network wire parallel to ROMEX (NONMETALLIC SHEATHED CABLE).You may not care, but I'm posting this for those who want to do the job correctly the first time and not diminish the value of their home, either by creating the need for rework or by burning it to the ground. Also, some of the rules are there to prevent electrocution risk. For example if a heavy, metal object were dropped on both the network cable and the romex, say, in an attic, it could bridge line voltage to the network and kill someone who is innocently crimping an ethernet connector elsewhere in the house.

While I agree that there are reasons to down vote this video, your reasons are not one of them. I think the biggest problem is not answering questions people asked. I bought a used Crestron TSW-1060 touch screen based on this video and I was able to get the Home Assistant dashboard on it. I did a factory reset and used the webpage that the screen serves up to be able to add my Home Assistant URL, I used one of the apps that had that option. It is too slow though and takes about 15 seconds to display the dashboard coming out of the screensaver. Now my TSW-1060 uses a different mounting bracket then his, I have seen pictures of the newer TSW-1070 with that bracket.
