- Did Kai turn Shen into a jade zombie? When we are introduced to Lord Shen, we are told that he was a royal son and the heir to the Gongmen City throne. He was a brilliant peacock whose greatest invention was the creation of weaponized fireworks early into their history. Shen utilized the gunpowder as a way to create destruction instead of beauty which brings him down a dark path that leads to his banishment from his home. Twenty years later, he returned to Gongmen City, and proved that he could hold his own against Masters Storming Ox and Croc. With his blades and metal weapons, he moved like a capable, deadly and vicious warrior who even could take on the Dragon Warrior, so when he was finally defeated, did Kai steal Shen’s chi in the Spirit Realm?

It could be that Shen somehow outsmarted Kai. Even without cannons Shen is still no pushover but he also knows when his opponent is too powerful (hence why he used the cannon on Rhino instead of continuing to fight him). Considering he wouldn’t have access to cannons in the spirit realm I could either see Shen retreating, finding a way to negotiate, or just never encountering Kai at all and hiding somewhere to plan.
I don't think shen has a possibility to defeat kai or neither kill him, As far as we know, Even if kai wasn't too intimidating He can still be scary asf, Even worse He's far too powerful and stronger than Tai lung and Shen Even Po Was struggling to fight over kai
All i know is Shen is lucky enough to not encounter him on the spirit realm or he's life would've ended 2 times in a row, luckily, He's really dead now He's in the afterlife instead of entering the spirit realm lol

Even if Shen had the chi worthy of Kai, I don't see Shen entering the Spirit World instead of just passing on like a normal soul. the Spirit World is a place where masters continue their existence as chi spirits, which is not something I see Shen doing.
Exactly what I was thinking. He is very much not part of the Kung Fu lifestyle. It was never what he cared about. His plan even would have led to the death of Kung fu as a whole.

Kai wanted to destroy OOGWAY'S LEGACY. Shen never became a master of Kung Fu, which was invented by OOGWAY. That's another reason why Kai wouldn't take Shen's Chi.

I'm pretty sure Kai didn't take Lord Shen's chi, although Lord Shen and his wolves made cameos in the flashback of the death of Po's beloved mother in Kung Fu Panda 3.

Kai character is more on the humor side then the other villains like tai lung and shen they’re more intimidating then Kai for example when tai lung name was heard everybody would be terrified even oogway and then when people here kai they don’t even know who the frick he is that’s mostly because the third movie was being more funny which was ok but didn’t make Kai good don’t get me wrong Kai is a pretty good villain but compared to tai lung or shen it’s not even a competition
Space Ducky agreed, they made Kai way too humorous and it made it hard to take him seriously as a villain. Tai Lung and Lord Shen were both far superior than Kai. Maybe not in overall power/chi but in basically every other category.
I wish there were some flashbacks in Kung fu panda three about all the people Kia took chi from like tia lung or a scene were he spared Shen

but with movies they might run out of time and end up not adding. maybe that could work if there was a tv series(a good one, NOT kung fu panda paws of destiny). but a scene like that will probably not take long. kai might defeat the both of them in 2 seconds(kai is probably about master oogways level)

I always figured that Shen didn't get sent to the spirit realm because he died a fairly non-mystical death by being crushed by the ship mast and was not a kung fu master. Tai Lung was "killed" by a wuxi finger hold, whereas the way that Oogway Kai was banished is left ambiguous. Based on what we know about Oogway's character, I assume that Kai was banished through some sort of magic and not flat out murder.

@@josipspanjic4166 po could probably figure out a way to steal it quicker, after all, he does become more skilled than oogway. Po can also master a move by just seeing it happen, so there’s no doubt he could probably do it. I’d even go as far as po is probably more skilled at the end of the show than he is when he tried on the magic shoes

I was always under the impression that Shen had some talent in kung, fu, but most of his talent was self taught freestyle. So the reason he wasn’t in the spirit realm was because, as skilled a fighter as he was, he knew very little king fu, therefore he was not powerful in the art enough to be welcomed into the spirit realm. I still like that explanation, but yours makes way more sence
Shen is probably inhabiting a dark version of the spirit realm, like a alternate version of hell where only the most cruel beings go to.

maybe Shen was smart enough to avoid Kai because he saw what he did to someone or maybe they just didn't run into each other because the Spirit Realm was too big.
I didn't think so much about this, so this is an opinion, not a theory: Chi is soul, more than being a Kung Fu master (the villagers could dominate Chi), Chi is know who are you, is "self perfection", is self confidence, Tai Lung was very self confident, he was pretty sure he could defeat the Dragon Warrior (Po) by
himself, he wanted the Dragon Scroll because he thought it was necessary to be the Dragon Warrior, but it wasn't, practically he already had all, he only committed the mistake of his unnecessary rage (destroying the village, and more).
What about Shen?, Chi is self confidence and other thinks about knowing who are you. Shen was an unsecure guy (he knows he isn't strong, that's why he created cannons, to make up for that weakness, he trusts more in his weapons than in himself) , a very scared person (remember when he talks with the soothsayer), even he was doubting about he was doing (their last time they were together). The fear behind the pride.
So, to be a master of Chi is necessary be self-conscience and confidence, and Shen didn't have it.
Maybe Chi was linked to the inner peace, and Shen obviously hadn't that.

Very valid point, I do admit that it makes sense. I loved Shen as a villain. He is my favorite villain.
Tip for any directors: if you want to make the perfect villain just make them good at defense not attacks, make them smart, and let the villain mess with others mentally

Shen was ruthless, cunning and brutal but let's be honest...his chi would have been weak and probably not worth taking. Shen didn't have great kung fu skill and with his anxiety and paranoia he didn't have the spiritual strength to have strong chi.
Emotions are mental, not spiritual. And yes he did have great Kung Fu skills, he was holding his own against two masters.

Did Shen even end up in the Spirit Realm anyway? He died by being crushed by a mast, and this weak chi thing is another point too...
What if there's a set limit to who can actually *appear* in the Spirit Realm (Example: Tai Lung had extraordinarily powerful Chi whilst Shen did not). If you don't have X amount of Chi, you don't form a physical body in the Spirit Realm, however if you have that set limit you can.
This could also be a reason Shen wasn't jombified, because he wasn't able to form a physical body in the Spirit Realm.
Just a thought.
Or, in another comment I saw, you have to die by Kung Fu.

Yeah I always wondered about Tai Lung, but Shen wasn’t sent to the spirit realm like him. Kai says “I have taken the chi of every master here” , so I think he was happy with that once he had Oogway. Sure, he got master chicken, master croc 🐊 and that other master I forgot which one, but I think those were because they attacked him. And yeah, he got Oogways students, but that was for revenge on Oogway. He had no reason to target Shen, he might not even have known about him. It would have been a big distraction for a small prize.
Well since we know Lord Shen was in the Spirit Realm from what we saw in KFP4, it could be possible that Kai did take his chi
Maybe Lord Shen negotiated with Kai or Kai didn't have time to come across him because when Lord Shen and died Kai was going to find oogway for him stole his chi so Lord Shen and Kai certainly didn't have time to cross

I'm pretty sure kai DID go after shen thinking his chi was strong only to be disappointed and he discarded the jade amulet he got from shen. (or he never got one from shen because his chi was so weak)

You forget in the two Kung Fu panda movies,Tai lung and Lord shen both met their end in different ways after their fight with Po.if Kai did discover them in the spirit world,he would've taken their chi just to add to his collection and to give himself more power
This video was released before the release of the fourth part, and as it turned out, Shen has a ghost, just like other kung fu masters.
In fact, Shen could have his own Chi, which Kai took over. When Kai listed the list of those whose souls he had captured, he did not even mention Tai Lung's name. But somehow we know that Lung was defeated by Kai, and his Chi was enslaved by Kai.
There is a theory that only deceased kung fu masters enter the spirit world. If this theory is confirmed, then it is quite logical that there can be neither Chi Shen nor himself in the spirit world, because he was self-taught, and not a member of the jade palace. But still, I'm inclined to believe that Shen and his Chi were captured by Ko. Yes, peacock is not physically strong, but his cold and calculating mind combined well with the energy of the fallen masters

Shen is the one who hurt the dragon warrior the most. By making Po see his past Shen manages to neutralize Po and the dragon warrior was not really hurt physically except the time Shen fired the cannons at the Panda and when the cannon ball set his fire on hand, Po was hurt within his heart and mind but as the dragon warrior he managed to get Inner Peace even faster than other masters because he didn't let his past overcome his decisions in becoming the now known dragon warrior.

Shen didn’t really use or need the power of Kung Fu or chi like Po and Kai do. Shen wasn’t worried about skill, he just relied on the sacred power of gun

Yo question for a possible video... Tigresses backstory maybe parentage, there’s a movie/episode that shows she was adopted by shi fu, but no mention of her parents... also her outfit is same throughout the first and second movie but her outfit in the last one is different there’s gotta be something significant about the change otherwise why change it at all?
This needs to be the plot for kung fu panda 4 shen survives and creates a new contraption
Out of all the 3 villains Shen was the weakest in terms of physical strength but he was the most terrifying and scariest villain. He made po have terrible flashbacks, had an army and freakin cannons, also the night battle and the dark tone of the movie makes KFP2 the best in the franchise.

Kai is revealed as a soul stealer using water magic (K) which makes sense because Kai means ocean or shell. Spelled differently it appears Kia.
DBZ also uses the term Kai to refer to a skilled or Godlike being.

Shen wasn't a master of kung fu, thats why he wanted to make weapons to wipe out all of kung fu and even needed weapons to hold his own against other kung fu warriors. I doubt Kai would want his chi other than just being a chi collector, not bc he had powerful chi

Lord Shen really wasn't a Kung Fu Master, he also hated Kung Fu. Though he could fight, even when Po didn't go completely ham on him, he definitely was no Tai. Lord Shen's Strength was his brilliance, his mind, not his Kung Fu. Pity his mind was poisoned so much by his own madness. In short, Po didn't have to try too hard to fight/defeat Lord Shen, if you notice in every fight between the two Shen is the one on the backfoot each time.

I was indeed hoping that during the fight scene in the panda village, Tigress would be fighting Tailung just for a short cut
