I can't tell you how many times I've tried thinking of different ways to ask Spotify to recommend some podcasts with hosts that approach subjects like you. This is a blessing, thank you.
I can completely relate to Dana's description of how she would feel moving into a house like that. That sudden feeling of "what the hell did I get myself into" after moving in would be spot on.
I love this! The humor is classic Greg and Dana, and Connor's comments and input are spot on. I also love that they brought Jason Gowin in as a guest, because he has such a unique and personal spin on the story. Great first episode, guys!!
I loved this so much!! Love your work on Hellier. I'm from Long Island and I've passed by the Amityville house a few times. I grew up about 15 minutes away in the 90s/00s. The first time I learned about the house I was 9 years old when my family went to a woman's house in Amityville to buy a kitten from a Maine Coon breeder (had that amazing cat for 15 years). When we were leaving the breeder I remember my mom very excitedly talking about trying to find some famous haunted house and she drove around the neighborhood for a few extra minutes. The facade of the house has been redone and no longer has those iconic windows but many other houses in the area do. There is no signage referencing the house's significance but there are several signs along the curbs stating parking or stopping is not permitted. (This probably becomes an issue every time another movie is released.) Dana mentioned that the house is on a lake but really it's more of a canal or a creek that leads out to the bay. The entire south shore of the island is made up of peninsulas, both real and manmade because developers wanted to create a lot of waterfront properties. A property like that house would go for over $1M these days.
OMG!!! This was awesome! Love the set up and that Dana has her own desk, looks so professional! The crow bleeps crack me up, love the Conner's input and soundboard skills, and of course Karl's photography is incredible! It is so awesome that you guys make your haunted objects something that we can learn about and care about and not be fearful of! "Curiosity over Fear" is the best quote and mantra ever!! Love you all! (Chris)
I was a kid when the movie came out and being the weirdo I was, I got the books and devoured them. The one thing that always stuck with me was that George would always wake up at 3:15am which was said to be the time that the murders took place. Over the weekend I watched a show on prime called the devil's hour and one of the characters was waking up at 3:33am and I was reminded of the Amityville Horror and you all come out with this today. I love strange synchronicities. I love the podcast and am so happy that it is as informative as it is funny.
Listened to the audio version and wanted to leave a positive comment here. This podcast has amazing production value/effort especially for the 1st episode. Great work from everyone involved. It really feels like I'm listening to a familiar podcast and I can't wait for more.
Absolutely the best explanation of the Amityville haunting I have ever heard! When the movie came out, I was very upset at how it was portrayed. I used to love the Warrens but over the past 10 years or so, I feel duped by them. I was fascinated by your Hellier series and have watched it many times. It really made me think about my existence. Thanks for your work.
Wow perfect example of how truth is stranger than fiction. The true story of Amityville would make a much more interesting film than what we've gotten so far. Totally agree with Dana.
I love this. Is so nice to see you enjoying yourselves this way. What a nice way to spend today. I didn’t even realise an hour and a half went by. It went too quickly!!!
What a great, in-depth conversation and exploration of the Amityville case! So much info I hadn't heard before, and I like your theories about George and the kids. I had some similar thoughts when watching a recent documentary the other day. It's really refreshing to see/hear a paranormal-focused show go into interesting historical material rather than some typical quick stories that could all be sub-titled, "Hey, look at me! I saw a shadow figure one time and it was crAAAAAAAAzy!! Swear it happened. I'm now dedicating my life to squat abandoned buildings all night". The first episode was great work, Planet Weird team. Thanks! Keep it up!👏🙏
I read The Amityville Horror when I was about 10 and it scared the hell out of me. I had a reoccurring nightmare about a ghost at the top of the stairs and I woke up screaming! It was scary because I’d never read or seen anything like that before!! My dad eventually told me I couldn’t read the book anymore because he was tired of being woken up by my screams in the middle of the night!
So so so glad I found this!!! I like everything these guys do. I was actually watching some older Kindred Spirits episodes today and thinking it would be great to have something new from Dana and Greg to dive into. Can’t wait to watch the next few episodes!
I totally enjoy watching you 3 going through all possibilities, different perspectives, and pointing out that discussed situations and events happened "allegedly". And it's not only interesting but funny aswell, your humor is hilarious. I would have loved if you could've had the chance to interview George, or go back in time and investigate. I'll be now watching now the next episode, less diarrhea and mama's spaghetti, I don't know if it can live up to this episode, it's great fun watching
Watching this podcast I'm reminded that when I was about 4 years old, we moved from our giant old mansion and sold it bc my dad was convinced it was haunted. One of the things he told me was that he used to hear bands downstairs in the main living room. I remember I had 2 ghost friends, but I was so little, it was like no big deal to me. Super interesting to look back at this in my life!
Being someone who grew up half hr from that infamous house I was so curious to hear yalls take on the whole thing and boy yall didn't disappoint, from the laughs to the in-depth dive of information I never heard before, i love every second of this! im so excited for you guys to go into more creepy stories.
I have been a huge fan for a long time and I am so excited to see you all have a podcast!!!!! I absolutely love it, its amazing like everything else you all do. I have rewatched it ten times and laughed so hard. I can't wait for the next episode!!!! Team Jody Forever!!!!!!!!!
So excited yall started this!! I've been wanting to see more from yall and this is perfect. Great discussion of different details around the case, both positive and negative. Really hope I can afford to join the Museum soon to join in on the live stuff, that sounds so much fun.
You will LOVE the museum if you liked this podcast! Hellier they all seem so serious and I love that you can see more of their personalities here. The community is also great and very close knit for how many people are in it. Hope to see you there soon!
Really happy to have a visual option to these podcasts because it is shot so beautifully. Thanks for the humor and deep dive into the information I haven't heard included in other podcasts/books trying to cover Amityville and the inclusion of people who knew those the focus is on. Much appreciated.
I was a kid when the story came out & the episode of In Search Of, absolutely terrified me!!! I lost many nights of sleep. People can debate the Lutz family experience but the Biggest phenomenon (in my opinion) is the fact done of De Feo family woke up when family members are being shot with high powered guns a couple feet from them!!! The police reports state the kids were asleep when shot. Tox screens were clear so they weren’t drugged. That will always be the bottom line for me. Whether there were money making scams or not, that is the craziest most paranormal part of the Amityville saga. Great episode, it was great hearing personal anecdotes by someone who spent a lot of time with George.
This is one of the greatest pieces of Amityville content I have ever seen, and I've seen 'em all. Yes I'm a total weirdo and the house has been my dreamhouse since I was a child. Subbed and thanks!
This is my favorite retelling of this story, hands down. It was entertaining, but also factual and sure to point out the fake facts you hear everywhere else. I love that you guys talk about all sides of the story, can't wait for the next one!
Fantastic! What a great first so episode. I can't wait to see what else you bring. Love the whole vibe of the set too. Looks beautiful. Greg, Dana, Connor and Karl, you've done an incredible job 👏
When I heard about the "red room", my first thought was "oh, a room to develop film". It reminded me of the small room, when I worked as a vet assistant, that we developed xrays in. 😂 🤷♀️ a red light is used to seeing by.... Why not paint the room red 🤷♀️. My mind comes up with out of the box thoughts 😂
You're right about the mindset of the 70's. I was introduced to D&D in the mid-70's, and had to deal with everyone thinking we were literally hunting each other through the sewers/stealing valuables/plotting horrible activities, etc... !
Love this first episode! Lots of information and stories I've never heard on this subject. I can't wait for more content! Loved the Crashmore reference too 😂
Excellent. I can’t listen to a traditional podcast. Listening to audio only, puts me to sleep! LOVE that you’re including the video because I loved your content.
I have been a huge fan of Hellier series. I was so hopeful for another season. I think the entire story was insane. I am glad you guys have a podcast now.
This was soooooo good!! I love getting to watch y’all interact (and see the photos and hijinks) ha listening. Thank you for doing this in both formats! Looks like I need to add y’all on Patreon - would definitely love to watch that seance. 🤣🐷
Thank you guys for bringing new “life” to a well covered case! I feel like I’ve heard this story a thousand times but with your podcast, I learned some new things 😊
Hi, having come across the Hellier documentaries earlier today iv now seen every episode. Wen people say they know what is real or false, i wonder what is their answer wud be after watching. Loved it so much i can't thank u all enough. Do any of u have plans to8 visit England. Enjoy ur journey and keep celebrating those activities.
Dana, I've been loving your content on Instagram, you've been really touching my tender heart. This podcast with you and Greg is just the spooky levity I need. Blessed Samhain.😽🎃💀👻🖤❤️
Loved absolutely everything about this.....Allegedly. 🤣 super interesting, very entertaining, laugh out loud funny, and just the right amount of spoopy. a great treat to hear Jason share his experiences too🖤
I love you guys. Im into this for answers and the mystery of it all. I dont want/need to be scared. I dont want exaggeration. I want truth and reality even if it is "boring". We need more content that doesn't go straight to "evil" and "demon", so thank you.
Oh! Great pod! When you mentioned the Crone documentary, has that been released? I remember it was advertised, but can't remember how long ago that was 😳
Greg and Dana, I just finished the "Hellier Series" and im pretty sure that yall documented something that is doing its fair share of "Impacting the Culture!!" Your work is Phenomenal!! OK, back to diarrhea!!
So funny😂. As a small child around 8 years old I was really into this paranormal stuff and was all for team Jodi. Read the story in one of my parents magazines. So when I got my most beloved childhood stuffed animal I called it Jodi after the pig from the Amityville horror. Jodi was the whole time there with the girl and so I wanted my stuffed toy always there. It was a monkey, not a pig but to me it didn't matter. I litteraly caried the toy everywhere and hoped one day it would also start talking to me. My parents where in total denial that I called my so beloved toy after a ghost pig from one of the most famous horror stories. They claim it was because of one kind tv programm about a family with a zoo or something, but I don't even remember even seeing the show, or was at least not interested in it. But ghost stories, I loved them. But now I understand more. I don't how I would have reacted if my son called his toy after a ghost, although he did claim as a four year old that he had a whole bunch of death friends who visited him at night to play. They where very friendly he said, so the apple didn't fall to far from the tree. We both got out of it again, although we still love a good ghost story or stories about other mistery's. Love your podcast, especially the combination of the spookiness with a good laugh
I can't tell you how many times I've tried thinking of different ways to ask Spotify to recommend some podcasts with hosts that approach subjects like you. This is a blessing, thank you.
Such a fun podcast! A mix of comedy, honesty, and theory throughout. So glad Greg and Dana (and Connor and Karl) are doing this podcast now!
i ended up here through an episode of weird studies

This is the most educational thing on Amityville that I've ever seen.
Missed you all!

This was great, and so well put together for a first episode, it feels like the format is already down!
Two minutes in and I'm already having a great time. Hope everyone all the best, and I'll definitely keep watching. Thanks!

What a wonderful first episode. So excited to be able to share a little bit of the museum with friends and family in this way!

I am loving these pod casts!!! I really appreciate you both being honest and discussing topics that I questioned the validity of the stories myself.
Fantastic! What a great first so episode. I can't wait to see what else you bring. Love the whole vibe of the set too. Looks beautiful. Greg, Dana, Connor and Karl, you've done an incredible job 👏

What if the entire Amityville horror story was just George trying to cover up a shart?
SOLVED!
@@PlanetWeird Want to open up an Amityville themed restaurant called Haunted Holes?
@@Gorejira My vote is for an Amityville themed “burrito barn” 😂 let’s collaborate haha
Also solves what was oozing out of the walls and why there were so many flies lol
What's a shart?
LOVED this episode! Its really cool and refreshing to have a podcast that has the input of experienced paranormal investigators.
You're right about the mindset of the 70's. I was introduced to D&D in the mid-70's, and had to deal with everyone thinking we were literally hunting each other through the sewers/stealing valuables/plotting horrible activities, etc... !
Thats honestly wild. The pack mentality is a terrifying thing.
Love this first episode! Lots of information and stories I've never heard on this subject. I can't wait for more content! Loved the Crashmore reference too 😂
Great Work! I'm onboard waiting to see where you crazy kids take us!! Thank you!!!

That was seriously awesome! Thank you so much for what looks to be an amazing podcast!
Awesome, Greg's wearing a Church Of The Cosmic Skull tshirt.
One more step and we're part of the team.
