Body dysmorphia is a demon, I can’t imagine it whilst also being a sex symbol. I am glad that public opinion in terms of body image is slowly shifting, but it’s sad that the ripples are still moving. Just let people age. It happens to literally everyone.
I think watching the Met Gala last night weirdly hammered this home for me. Not only the body dysmorphia on display but how there were also so many different types of bodies on the carpet, and I found them beautiful and inspiring … I’m really sitting with my thoughts
I was ridiculed humiliated and bullied my ENTIRE life for having albinoism and being rejected by a very selfish birth mother then dumped onto an abusive covert narc adoptive mother who use to make me feel like a freak despite herself looking like bugs bunny in a pair of pop socks squashed into a pair of tree trunk cankles for ankles! Any way i am 50 years old now n my BDD is more severe as I age so I am a tanarexic anarexic have to dye my white hair black just to look normal and not like a Martian alien which is wot I've been called in the past by spiteful evil individuals includn the evil adoptive mother
To be fair even if Madonna aged the way Pamela Anderson is, she would still get criticsized, Pamela an aging sex symbol gets attacked for allowing herself to age, so no either way women can't win
this - they don't actually want you to age gracefully, that's just a talking point backed up by nothing because the only actual point is the complain about the thing you find uncomfortable.
💯. Ever see IG photos of her Sister Melanie being compared to her? If Madonna allowed herself to age like her Sister, she would get dragged & age-shamed even worse.
Exactly. It's so easy for artists these days to jump unto the LGBT+ pandering train, but for Madonna to do so in the late 80s/90s was career suicide. It was the height of the AIDS crisis, when left and right politicians and so many others turned their backs on the gay community (including celebs who support them now), and when AIDS was still labelled "God's punishment", "gay cancer", etc. Madonna openly spoke out on behalf of gay people, advocating for safe sex and breaking down the myths of AIDS (e.g. people still thought you could get it from using the same bathroom, etc.) She often went to Mexico to get medication for AIDS patients. Above all, she said that AIDS patients should be treated with compassion, regardless of how they got infected. She didn't pander to the gays, she supported them. It's sad how so many in the queer community today make fun of her and diss her.
She stood up for the gays when it wasn’t the cool thing to do. She’s brave and truly dgaf. In the clips in this video you can see she had men dressed in drag on her stages decades ago. Also POC, men and women. She made out with black men in her videos. I repeat, it was NOT accepted or the cool thing back then. That’s why she’s an icon
When I see Madonna I don’t see age, I don’t care what she does with her photos or her face, her music is absolutely amazing no one has that and no one will have the talent or longevity of Madonna
Madonna was hardly famous on the basis of her music alone. She amassed notoriety from CONSTANT public scandal, spectacle, feuds, controversy, sexuality, etc. The masses were more interested in seeing what she would do next rather than hearing what she would do next. Not saying these are even necessarily bad, but these are almost more responsible for making her a cultural icon/influence rather than her overall discography. This also perfectly explains why she hasn't released any noteworthy or popular music that younger generations are willing to care about. Expressing open sexuality isn't provocative anymore and shes continuing the attempt to use "controversy" as a crutch. When this fails, she then appears as somewhat of a spectacle to new or young audiences. Theres a reason why counterparts within the same generation (Kylie Minogue for example) who never relied as heavily on controversy, is able to maintain a career with new hit music that transcends generational divide and without the subsequent criticism.
Male rockstars singing songs from their youths as nostalgia acts. Madonna keeps releasing new music and her new attempts at making music sound too juvenile, destroying her extensive and beautiful legacy from the 1980s to 1990s.
Half naked male rock stars have only been ok since the late 1960s, and only in certain countries, like those in Europe or the Americas. Asian countries are generally much less accepting of this sort of thing.
Where are this male artist😭? Also I think most are usually on par with woman signing about sex while half naked. Like have you seen the pop girlies of the last 2 decades?
To loosely quote from Rupaul’s Drag Race S12 EP7 Madonna Rusical:” The most controversial thing Madonna has done is to stick around.” Even though I personally don’t care about her that much, I still respect her legacy and her everything. No matter what she will become, I still want her to stick around and stay true to herself unapologetically.
She could do like so many artists do, have a few hit records then tour off of playing the oldies for life. But she is driven. Driven to be relevant, driven to be creative, driven to prove she has earned her place as a legend. Nothing but respect for sticking around. That’s such a funny and true assessment.
she gave hope to sm women and inspired the world.I commented on a photo on IG & said "If I have the audacity to stay around on the planet best believe I'm gonna wear what I want" they were praising & showing older woman who walked the red carpet all glam. It got 1,000 likes. The most controversial thing she's done is yes live her life.
Madonna just made history the other day in having the biggest audience for a concert tour in history something the current girls who should actually be surpassing Madonna haven't accomplished.
Uhh- the concert was free😵💫😵💫😵💫 And there are ANY current and their are indeed other artists that are currently surpassing Madonna in the auditorium 😭 I’m to weak-
And yet she gets no media coverage yet she’s consistently still amazing and even breaking records because the previous person to hold that record funny enough was Tina Turner another older woman during her peak
Maybe the question should be, "why don't we let women age gracefully?" There's a ridiculous amount of pressure on women to stay forever young. An absolutely impossible feat. So if they try to keep up with the beauty standards they are trying too hard, and if they don't they have let themselves go. Please tell me how we are supposed to win this game set up for failure? This is why I don't subscribe to trends. I'll be 45 this year, and if someone doesn't like the fact I don't do Botox or whatever -so be it. But I completely understand why so many people, especially women, have cosmetic procedures. Imagine if we put that much time, energy, focus, money, and other resources towards educating ourselves, making the world a better place, having fun... But as a society, we have made it big business to be following whatever beauty trend happens to be on point on any given day. Women/People: the only way to win the game, is to not play it. Just do whatever GENUINELY works for YOU. You are the one you have to live with day in and day out ❤️🌷
I think its important to let everyone do what they want-if they want to get old, fine. If they want to get some work done because it makes them feel more confident, fine. Whatever makes the individual happy. I dont think its a waste of time to look after yourself-going to the gym and walking etc is important and it doesnt mean you dont have time to do good things for others. Ppl who care about their looks can also be nice and caring. But if I hate how I look I dont feel like having fun or learning new things cause it makes me depressed. I certainly hate the idea of being lazy and just letting myself go. Even aside from looks it would be unhealthy
Actually the reason why most people get cosmetic procedures isnt because of pressure from society, they just want to look good for themselves. I dont care about keeping up with the latest beauty trends. I love fashion and makeup, but I dont WORRY about having to have the latest trend-I just have it if I like it . I dont even care about being beautiful. I just dont want to be ugly, and unfortunately aging makes me ugly. There is a bar lookswise and if I fall below that then I feel depressed.
I just want to say that I truly appreciate what you do. This is one of many times I realized I need to get a grip of my focus and deal with my shit. I honestly thought this video was about surgeries and had my thoughts - but to be reminded of what she's done and how the world also affect me was a humbling experience. To even think that I silently judge her is just... I am so ashamed. And as I am ashamed I am also scared of wrinkles, of looking "tired" and lose my youth. What a world we live in.
All women deal with this fear, we will all be expected to tone down our looks and sexuality as we get older or we’ll feel the pressure to stay looking young, these are choppy waters we’ll have to navigate so imagine being Madonna the blueprint of female pop music and sexual expression in the mainstream, always thought as sexy, having to deal with that kind of criticism from the general public. I wouldn’t want it so I think people need to be a little bit kind and understanding.
Madonna bringing ballroom culture to the masses in a big way with ‘Vogue’ (and priming the pump for Drag Race in the 2010’s) will forever be iconic. Love her 🔥🔥🔥
That’s just marketing. Her whole brand is being a relatable singer/songwriter and making music for young women to feel identified with, writing music specifically catered to the most profitable and loyal audience an artist can have (teenage/young women/fangirls) is precisely the reason why Taylor is the biggest star in the world right now. Her marketing strategy is flawless and by far the smartest and most effective out of any artist in music history.
@@somberwindssweetheart no matter what you say ms. Emissions billionaire swift is not relatable. Call it marketing or whatever but Taylor is what Madonna used to be so we’ll be talking the same about Taylor in 20 years.
She just made a historical show here in Brazil, and I'm so proud of us, brazilians, and her for making this happen! I absolutely love Madonna and she's a legend. She fought for the LGBT+ community when It wasn't accepted in any way in society. For everything she has done, for everyone she inspired, I don't mind the photoshop and the cosmetic procedures, let her have fun.
I hadn't heard about this. However, kylie didn't need the radios this time around. This isn't the 2000s. I do understand the existence of agism, but Kylie minogue is the success story amidts this type of discrimination. Still, her comeback single was huge and even led to finally winning a Grammy. This was the year for her and proves that a 55 year old female singer is capable of chart success without ridiculous behavior and excessive cosmetic surgery as that of Madonna. I like her and respect her, but definitely lost admiration for her as I thought she's was stronger than that as to let herself be consumed about her looks and what people think of her
Blackballed her song??? The truth is, it's a lousy song. All that time in the studio, and that's what her record company releases??? Seriously??? Padam this
“Aging gracefully” is just another dated, misogynistic phrase aimed at controlling women and shaming the ones who have the nerve to do what they want with their lives & not follow the pack. You will NEVER hear anyone using that saying for a man. Madonna has always done whatever the fuck she wanted with her life and always embraced self-care, edgy fashion & makeovers. Why should she change who she is just because total strangers find it abnormal or inappropriate? Suddenly, feminism is out the window. I also find it hilarious how no one bats an eye when pop stars in their 20s & 30s are filled with botox & fillers but when a 65 year old woman does it, it’s pathetic & desperate. Let’s not act like pop girlies like Ariana, Katy, Gaga or Beyoncé have never had any cosmetic work or beauty procedures. Madonna has just always been an easy target for bullying since the very beginning, because no matter how much people tried to humiliate and bring her down, she never budged and that still pisses them off. And that’s why the media keeps trying to push a very one-dimensional side of her. WAKE TF UP.
Exactly! People would not care if her procedures looked "natural". Madonna, as an artist, has never cared about what people deem graceful. Her career has always been transgressive.
Why are u lying. Just look at Michael Jackson. He's a man and he was bullied all his life for his cosmetic procedures even when the public found out that he got them due to the relentless bullying and insecurities he got from his father they still crucified him, calling him wacko jacko etc. The point is whether or not its a man or a woman, whether its the 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s or 2020s they still get mocked by the public especially if the transformation is pretty drastic.
i went to Madonna's Celebration Tour this year. as a shy and traumatized teen girl with serious body dysmorphia and self-acceptance issues as well as a long-time fan of Madonna, it was surreal seeing a 65 year old dance and sing perfectly on stage with makeup, multiple costume changes, bright (and hot) lights, and jet lag from her world tour. she is a motherfucking icon, like it or not. people are always going to say shit about her and while she may have learned to live with it through the years, i think that it is time that we as a collective society, should start to have discussions about ageism towards public figures, especially those who are overtly sexual.
having actually lived during the like a virgin era, madonna was very much considered a pop star at the likes of Britney spears until she released the album True Blue. Not that there's anything wrong with Britney, but I'm saying she was considered a musician for teeny boppers. (despite the sexually charged songs). Her music grew with her audience. I was madonna for halloween when I was eight. A lot of little girls like me loved her back then--it tells you a lot. So... she was not transgressive necessarily from the beginning, but she was definitely different and got to be more transgressive as her and her fanbase aged.
@@samanthas6073 either she becomes saggy and ignored by society or she gets plastic surgery and looks like what she does. It’s not awful, she just doesn’t look like herself. Cher is a good example of great plastic surgery, Kim k is another great example.
People will never be satisfied. Madonna has paved the way for so many artists. But her current look is disheartening. I loved that madonna had muscles later in life as that was not consideed common although she was still considered thin which is considered a euro standard the power from her frame inspired me. The face and possible bbl just shook me. It made me realize maybe Madonna was insecure all along and this physical change was the manifestation of it. She has had work done but it was more so natural looking and I undestand why she did it but she took it too far.
I didn’t know we really cared about her looks anymore… we have evolved to realize her literal looks were not what catapulted her to her heights. So she can touch her face, whatever makes her fell better
@@dancer4066Yes. I love Madonna but their pushing it a little with their comment. While Madonna may have had some influence on Bey and the others, she isn't their sole influence.
@@cosmefulanitoo2625 who said bey didn’t love madonna i said she wasn’t the END ALL BE ALL for beyoncé she had michael jackson, janet jackson, tina turner, donna summer, diana ross let’s be very clear here.
Madonna isn't doing anything different than what Cher is & has been doing. Madonna doesn't wanna wrinkled up, saggy face. So she's getting plastic surgery. Everyone isn't gonna age amazingly well like TINA TURNER did. Madonna's a legend tho.
They've had different trajectories for one Cher was nowhere near as commercially successful as Madonna who dominated the charts across the globe at her peak and she did not overtly push sexuality in the same provocative way I.e. sex book. Cher was a much more centrist if not at times even conservative star for much of her career
They criticized her when aging well and being sexy but having veins in her hands (they called her Arterial Girl, back then), and now, they criticized her for not aging naturally. Which is it?
I honestly think she's just trying to hold onto her youth too much 😅 but the whole being late for her own concerts and then blaming it on the audiences I knew she lost it long before
@@cosmefulanitoo2625 ticket sales have nothing to do with the fact that she wants to have the face and body of a 20 year old. shes a 65 year old woman and should start acting like it.
It has really sickened me to see people talk about Madonna the way they have because they're literally just mad at the woman for aging and not resigning to the role of the old maid. Like, can this woman not do what she wants to do? Has she not earned the right to do that, giving us amazing music for literal decades? People are so misogynistic, it's not even funny.
I really hope that Madonna is still pushing the boundaries and playing up the new normal in the sense that women are allowed to age or be sexual just as men are. Your video description put it very well and wouldn’t it be ironic if we look back 20 years from now and realize Madonna was still pushing boundaries and pushing the norm forward just as she did her whole career
I think Madonna is amazing & an absolute icon & I honestly think she has aged gracefully. Madonna is over 60 & is still singing & performing just like she was in the 1980's. And even at 65 she's still making history. I love Madonna's music & artistry. I think she's an absolute legend & I love how so many artists today are collaborating & paying homage to her.
Sucks because I feel like a lot of the trust falls and support for people suffering with body dysmorphia or bad body image is only reserved to young or younger people. So much sympathy and understanding even though, objectively, the young are stilled considered in their prime in looks. Meanwhile those actually dealing with the existential and dissociative stress of visibly aging and feeling disconnected from the image of themselves they’ve grown attached to…are mocked. it becomes a mockery. A spectacle to gawk at. Sure, we try to flag them down with ‘aging is a blessing’ ‘just age gracefully.’ But it’s all so insincere. Platitudes. They really wanna say ‘please, phase out of society already, I don’t want to see your aged face. it’s a bummer and reminds me I’m next.’ We live on perpetual denial. I’ve seen all the unfiltered comments regarding women staying natural vs women getting enhancements. They both get dragged. I’ve also seen creators/public figures I really liked have an intrusive thought and say really ignorant and dismissive things out loud about older people and their own thoughts about their future aged self. Everyone is secretly repulsed and lying, it seems. It’s like how all those edgy kids joked about unaliving at 30, there’s truth in that. They may not do it, but they become mentally disengaged with life by then. It’s like a spiritual death.
Gotta hand it to Madonna, she is the hardest working woman in show biz. No shade intended but look at her contemporaries like Billy Joel and George Michael. They peaked creatively in about the same era as Madonna. But GM just stopped making new music. So did BJ. His last ablum was in early 90s and continues touring playing songs that are over 20 years old. It’s his choice and again I don’t look down on it. But I do look up to Madonna for putting herself out there. She could save herself a lot of criticism by settling into a habit of playing all the hits and just catering to Gen X nostalgia. But she is an artist and wants to continue pushing herself and the envelope.
Madonna is a veteran warrior queen who mastered the music industry for such a long time. I feel so blessed to see her in her most recent tour- the first ever time I ever saw her in the flesh after living a whole childhood seeing her through a screen. Not only did she made it okay for me to be gay in my teenager years but we both share a fate of surviving near death. It was fate for me to see her in person and seeing her at age 29 after surviving cancer at age 28 and after she survived near death fulfilled my 20s.
She deserves all of her flowers while we still have her!! These last few days after Rio have been amazing for Madonna fans ❤ I hope it continues. She more than deserves it. Long live the Queen!
I first heard Madonna in the 80s and was hooked ever since. I don’t only think she is a great musician but lyricist and visionary, up there with Michael Jackson.
Honest, I love you but will have to agree to disagree. Madonna can do whatever she wants. She is the blueprint for so many stars today who on day will get old too. She is a trend setter. She is setting the trend for an older pop star in the future. In the future Lady Gaga, Meg, Doja, Beyonce, Miley and Taylor plus more will be able to be 60 year old pop stars and still be sexy and we will be okay with it. No one will question it because Madonna took all the heat for it in the past. Being sexy is not only for the young. Plus I was a kid of the 90s. Madonna was BIG. For the MTV generation between Madonna, - and. Huge. If you grew up with Madonna you will understand. Madonna is still the queen of pop. Nice video
The ‘Ray of Light’ album should’ve been her musical direction once she turned 50. It was a masterpiece and going down that road would’ve made her artistically revered. Like, Barbra Streisand revered. Now, she’s just controversial as she always has been.
For someone who was with her at the beginning, her trajectory is interesting to say the least, and only those who have experienced her entire journey, and not just bit and pieces, can appreciate what she is attempting now.
MADONNA is forever the moment and forevery favourite every album just slaps ... Her lyrics, vocals, productions, performances, vidials, storytelling, speeches, styles, reinventions, genre bending, business, entrepreneur, energy is secobd to none theres no one on her level and never will be and RIO performance this week in her mid 60s proved she has the power 🫶✨ long may she reign
I saw her live at her Celebration tour on my Birthday. It was incredible! She still looked beautiful in person & stood and danced throughout the whole show and very rarely sat down. It was totally worth it!
The whole "older women can be sexy" while changing your face to look younger is the biggest and most disappointing oxymoron. If you're altering your face (fillers, surgeries, even just photoshopping every picture) you're just admitting in a roundabout way that you're NOT sexy at all as an older woman. 🤦♀️ Stand on it or sit down.
I remember Madonna being shamed for being "too old" to act sexy because 4 Minutes came out when I was 10 and I remember watching the music video and my mom was one of the people saying that about her. She came in to the room while I was watching it and said something like, "what the heck, is that Madonna? Isn't she in her 50s or something?" And she laughed at the way she was dancing in her skin-coloured suit in the video
This is so beautiful to highlight this icon's accomplishments. She is an inspiration to me and encourages me to see growing older as the gift that it is and not the curse society tries to make it out to be for women.
Idk, I suppose there is something to be said about growing with your audience. Pop musicians are generally always young, because their target audience is usually younger people (teens-20s). Young people want to see their peers or people just a little older (because pop is also aspirational). I can't help but find it really sad when people try to hold onto being overly sexy into middle age. You can still be absolutely stunning while being mature, classy and experienced. My husband's grandmother is in her 70s, and she's an objectively, beautiful woman. Her elegance, sense of style and bearing is what makes her beautiful. Being sexy isnt the only way to be physically attractive. And there is a sense of fundamental immaturity that comes with wanting attention by showing off as much of your body as possible. Hence why it can be offputting when older people (who should be more mature) do it.
Her career changed with Ray Of Light because she had just became a mom. She said that herself. But she can learn a thing or two from Janet Jackson. At the age that Janet is now. She doesn't need to prove herself with sexism and her age. She just still got it. Madonna just don't wanna get older.
Tabloids used to photoshop with wrinkles and turkey neck...insecurities don't happen in a vacuum. You think those same people would stop hating on her when she did start to age?
Madonna was in the right place at the right time. Of course she was brilliant & the songs were too but in the British pop singles scene of 1983 I can’t think of her having any serious competition from other powerful & attractive or sexy front girls . Kate Bush & Debbie Harry had all but disappeared or weren’t managing big hit songs leaving Madge up against intentionally non traditional sexual or leftist Bananarama ,Annie Lennox ,Alana from Thompson Twins or Souxie Banshee . With the video explosion It was there for the taking .
Uh, I think the title of this video needs to be changed bc her albums have absolutely NOTHING to do with Madonna aging gracefully. (I had to stop the video midway through.) She is a 65 year old woman who is not accepting the fact she is aging. That's all this is. Since she has the financial means and technology, Madonna has decided to take it to the extreme by removing every single wrinkle in her face. It's actually quite jarring that her face is smoother than her 27 year old daughter Lourdes' face! Madonna is now the poster child of what NOT to do once you hit 60. Diane Keaton, Meryl Streep, and even Cher are defining what it means to age beautifully and owning the next chapter of your life.
Madonna has done incredible things in her career for herself and tons of people. She is beautiful, but she really should age gracefully, people would still love her and continue going to see her. What she’s doing with filters and edits is just beyond cartoonish these days. She is above this. PS, her Confessions era was simply incredible.
In all fairness to the point that Madonna's critical approval being tied to her sexuality, with Ray of Light (and I guess Music as well, though I never really dug that one as much), you have to also remember the time when it was released and how music sounded back then. Mainstream dance music was just one kind of sound - four on the floor, house-based music. What Madonna did in 1997 with Ray of Light was go into the deepest depths of EDM and pull up the most obscure, underground sounds she could find. William Orbit went out of his way with this one. I mean - just listen to the title track. It's psychedelic trance music. The sonic identity on that song is so strong... I mean, name another song that sounds like Ray of Light. Not just a pop song, any song. The biggest single, Frozen, is a 6 minute trip hop orchestral ballad with a hook sung in an Arabic scale. It's also the longest radio edit I've ever seen, clocking in at 5:30. Ray of Light is weird like Bjork or Kate Bush. There's a song sung in Sanskrit on there lol. It's so sonically out there that you can't even call it a pop album. It's absolutely genius and is absolutely one of the best albums of all time, not only the best Madonna album. It's electronic music's Sgt. Pepper. It 100% deserves all the acclaim it gets and more.
I've seen her live twice. The first time was The Girlie Show Tour in Sydney on Nov 19th 1993 (this show was filmed for the DVD tour!) and a second time for her Re-Invention Tour in Philadelphia on July 4th 2004. I was right up close stage at this one and she pointed directly at me when she sang Crazy For You...I couldn't believe my luck! She is a true icon and tbh I love her more than ever cos of how she perseveres and is paving the way for younger female singers who will someday reach their 60s and will be able to continue high success thanks to Madonna's trailblazing
Conversations like these always bring out the most intense opinions on both sides. One side: She's gross and cringe. Hang it up. Become a mentor or something. Other side: She can do whatever she wants! Lol both can be true. What does often times IS VERY CRINGE and has been, and it would be cringe if a man did it too. However....she's earned her right to be cringe and weird and apparently it's still selling enough to make it worthwhile so whatever. I just hope she's got some manner of support somewhere mentally.
These comments are literally proving everyone's point. Everyone here shaming her for her looks. If she were younger or if she was a man y'all wouldn't say anything. Just because she's an older woman that isn't afraid to be herself doesn't mean she's crazy. These comments are pure sexism and ageism
Madonna was there for the LGBT community since the start- especially during the AIDS epidemic. No other 65 year old woman can bring 1.4million people to a concert- even if it were free. We need to show respect.
YES YES YES - Madonna has changed the course of history and fought for so many things. She has never been afraid to speak her mind and has been criticized relentlessly for her entire career. She is smart and involved in all of her work with a thorough artistic vision. She is a talent and above all has a huge heart and a tough exterior. I feel it took her almost passing away this past year to really get the world to connect with her which is so sad. Her Celebration Tour is so amazing and I cried the entire time I was there. At 65 she can still put on a show and you can see how happy she is to still be here.
Okay but sexuality in general does have an expiration date, as sex drive naturally starts to diminish and sexual liberation stops being a priority in people's lives.
Erotica is probably the best album she has ever produced and probably one of the best albums produced in the past decades form a mainstream superstar at least in terms of artistry
Madonna could’ve went down in history as the most respected woman in pop history. I hate how she keeps embarrassing herself to say relevant. I feel like if Michael Jackson was alive, he’d probably do the same thing, and it pains me to see legends doing that to their legacy. Britney Spears I can understand she is not well, but if she had a good team, those embarrassing videos wouldn’t have made it in the public. I sometimes imagine Beyoncé acting like Britney or Madonna.
Micheal wouldn't do that! He would bow out gracefully and probably mentor other young artist. He wouldn't have to stay relevant cuz his title will never leave him.
@@KrisBryant99 Not really Confessions on a Dancefloor, more like American Life sealed the decline in her popularity. Confessions (as much as i love that album) feels like a damage control.
I don’t know how to feel about Madonna because even at this older age, she would make jokes about her own sons friends (teenagers) being attractive- she wrote a book about her interacting with young men and being completely happy about taking advantage of young boys…I’m surprised u didn’t mention that 😂
She wrote nothing of the kind, you realize her book is work of fiction right? It describes a series of sexual fantasies that a person could experience and sometimes visualizes them through artistic photographs, it's not a biographical account of Madonna's sex life and nor is the age of any of the characters involved specified
Good for her! I'm glad she made history. And I'm not even a mega fan. Damn, people wanted her out of the industry when she was barely 40, and she's still here!
I wish that all older celebrities could use Jane Fonda's doctor just so they stay looking like themselves. Even my woman, Janet Jackson, has clearly had work done but still looks like herself. I honestly think what sent Madge into this downward spiral was her divorce from Guy Ritchie cos that's when she started doing really embarrassing things and the annoying part is that era was when her face was on the limit of looking pulled but still keeping her natural features
uh - what? have you seen fonda? She looks fine enough, but she really doesnt look the way she used to. And thats fine, she doesnt need to. Even if none of these people got any sugury, they would not look like they did before.
All these comments about Madonna's face are ignoring the fact that she looks great and very much like herself on her recent tour. So whatever she had done was clearly temporary
Crazy crazy.. and a big shame after being one of the most beautiful faces of entertainment and of course iconic….. vanity is the source of many evils.. and exactly bc of that, she is actually the biggest ageist of ALL…… 🤷🏼♂️
That woman has worked her behind off. She can do what she wants with her body and music no matter what. Are we going to be talking about Beyoncé in the same manner 20 years from now? All of you are going to age. You’re all in for a huge surprise.
Isn't refusing to age gracefully, meaning allowing the aging process to occur without preventative/corrective surgical intervention, self-imposed ageism?
she was here in brazil just days ago and the whole country was gagged. she still got it. the show aired on tv, so everyone watched it. i felt like i was in the 80s or 90s. lol i think she can do this in america too, just needs a better plataform. her use of social media didn't do her any favor, she's just not good at it. but give her a stage and a way to comunicate with the general public and she will be on the top the game again.
@@imaslave4u.. yes but in general they have no interest. I work as a teacher with teens and they only care for current or maybe if there is a biopic like the queen one or elton then they want to know more. Now like a prayer is viral because of some movie for example. Thats how it is
Carol Kane, Paulina Porizkova, Bebe Neuwirth all aged beautifully. Madonna's acting out was passed off as strength when she was young and hot. Now she comes across as repulsive.
I think her mistake was not educating herself with her face structure and her face lymphs but went over board with fillers, botox and face lifts which gloated her face more. It is very important to study your face's anatomy first and then do what you gotta do to fix it without going so overboard that it makea you puffy. Because not everyone's face is same.
This was an excellent career retrospective on Madonna! What a legend! I haven't enjoyed much of her 21st-century music. i can't get behind a LOT of the instagram pics and how much she is altering her face to look young. But I'm so glad we have Madonna, and she'd given us so much great music

Pamela Anderson is heavily altered by plastic surgery.
Weak men are glorified…………
The difference is that Pam is happy with herself.
Damn, she really fought for a lot of good causes.

This THIS!!!
Thank you! We should happy we still have her around. She is one of the greats. Honestly all the hate is because she is a woman. Let’s be real

Yes please we need to let women show their boobs.
Nope it looks equally ridiculous.

Drag Race quoted her from her speech of woman of the year in 2016. Amazing episode!!!
She could do like so many artists do, have a few hit records then tour off of playing the oldies for life. But she is driven. Driven to be relevant, driven to be creative, driven to prove she has earned her place as a legend. Nothing but respect for sticking around. That’s such a funny and true assessment.

Maybe the question should be, "why don't we let women age gracefully?"
There's a ridiculous amount of pressure on women to stay forever young.
You are the one you have to live with day in and day out ❤️🌷
Also I ❤Madonna.
Its natural and OK to not want to age, dont let anyone make you feel guilty for that

Michael Jackson was bullied for not aging gracefully...

i went to Madonna's Celebration Tour this year. as a shy and traumatized teen girl with serious body dysmorphia and self-acceptance issues as well as a long-time fan of Madonna, it was surreal seeing a 65 year old dance and sing perfectly on stage with makeup, multiple costume changes, bright (and hot) lights, and jet lag from her world tour. she is a motherfucking icon, like it or not. people are always going to say shit about her and while she may have learned to live with it through the years, i think that it is time that we as a collective society, should start to have discussions about ageism towards public figures, especially those who are overtly sexual.
having actually lived during the like a virgin era, madonna was very much considered a pop star at the likes of Britney spears until she released the album True Blue. Not that there's anything wrong with Britney, but I'm saying she was considered a musician for teeny boppers. (despite the sexually charged songs). Her music grew with her audience. I was madonna for halloween when I was eight. A lot of little girls like me loved her back then--it tells you a lot.
Platitudes. They really wanna say ‘please, phase out of society already, I don’t want to see your aged face. it’s a bummer and reminds me I’m next.’
We live on perpetual denial.

For the MTV generation between Madonna, -

The ‘Ray of Light’ album should’ve been her musical direction once she turned 50. It was a masterpiece and going down that road would’ve made her artistically revered. Like, Barbra Streisand revered. Now, she’s just controversial as she always has been.

And she was beautiful in that music video
This is so beautiful to highlight this icon's accomplishments. She is an inspiration to me and encourages me to see growing older as the gift that it is and not the curse society tries to make it out to be for women.
This is such a brilliant history on Madonna. Such an incredible woman.
"Ray Of Light" will always be my favorite album from her, "Frozen" is heavenly ♥
The caption should say “what happens when you WON’T age gracefully”.
She’s been a rebel from day one so ofc she chooses to defy the expectation of “aging gracefully”
Her career changed with Ray Of Light because she had just became a mom. She said that herself. But she can learn a thing or two from Janet Jackson. At the age that Janet is now. She doesn't need to prove herself with sexism and her age. She just still got it. Madonna just don't wanna get older.

I love you, Madonna.
She’s truly a legend of her own! She stays on her own lane and really just mind her business and having fun!!!! Forever Iconic! ❤❤❤
I appreciate this video so much. It’s important.
She just a Genius that's all
Uh, I think the title of this video needs to be changed bc her albums have absolutely NOTHING to do with Madonna aging gracefully.
It’s never been done before and they are just uncomfortable or envious of her for doing it. As long as she’s having fun I will enjoy her also xx.
I LOVE Human Nature. Super underrated song
Say the true for the people in the back
Blah blah blah another obsessed Madonna fan
@@MsCarringtonsTH-cam it's common sense
@@MsCarringtonsTH-cam I'm obsessed for defending a woman when she's being dragged down? Okay then
@MsCarringtonsTH-cam your picture looks scary asf.
She has one life, let her be!
Same for male and others.
Madonna will always be my inspo. I would tattoo “poor is the man whose pleasures depend on the permission of another” across my back! She’s the goat
@@KrisBryant99 what? For a lot of people Confessions is her best era xD
@@KrisBryant99 Not really Confessions on a Dancefloor, more like American Life sealed the decline in her popularity. Confessions (as much as i love that album) feels like a damage control.
When Madonnas gone, yall will give her the flowers she deserves.
@@gregory7567 Why would you assume that I’m not giving her her “flowers” ?
Get tf outta here with this BS.
I don’t know how to feel about Madonna because even at this older age, she would make jokes about her own sons friends (teenagers) being attractive- she wrote a book about her interacting with young men and being completely happy about taking advantage of young boys…I’m surprised u didn’t mention that 😂
Research before you talking that book was about her having a relashionship when She was 18 and he was 16
She wrote nothing of the kind, you realize her book is work of fiction right? It describes a series of sexual fantasies that a person could experience and sometimes visualizes them through artistic photographs, it's not a biographical account of Madonna's sex life and nor is the age of any of the characters involved specified
Good for her! I'm glad she made history. And I'm not even a mega fan. Damn, people wanted her out of the industry when she was barely 40, and she's still here!
It's a shame that so much news articls are now all about her looks rather than her music because ,more of her songs are getting forgotten.
Shes great. However I wish she did all this and loved herself as she aged.
I really don't see how she could age poorly. She was as pretty as it gets her whole life, no matter the age. This surgery was absolutely unnecessary
when ppl drag her irl to me in random convos i’m like guys, that’s literally madonna let her do her thing!!
Isn't refusing to age gracefully, meaning allowing the aging process to occur without preventative/corrective surgical intervention, self-imposed ageism?
she was here in brazil just days ago and the whole country was gagged. she still got it. the show aired on tv, so everyone watched it. i felt like i was in the 80s or 90s. lol
i think she can do this in america too, just needs a better plataform. her use of social media didn't do her any favor, she's just not good at it. but give her a stage and a way to comunicate with the general public and she will be on the top the game again.
Omg this video! THANKS! Young people need to know. They have internet but no curiosity about pop history
Nah I’m young but I love learning about stuff like this
@@imaslave4u.. yes but in general they have no interest. I work as a teacher with teens and they only care for current or maybe if there is a biopic like the queen one or elton then they want to know more. Now like a prayer is viral because of some movie for example. Thats how it is
I love your videos!♥️
My father and Madonna are the same age. My father is only 7 months older, but he looks so much younger...
Carol Kane, Paulina Porizkova, Bebe Neuwirth all aged beautifully.
Madonna's acting out was passed off as strength when she was young and hot. Now she comes across as repulsive.
Madonna after surgery: "What happened to her?!"
Madonna if she didn't have surgery: "What happened to her?!"
Madonna is the eternal Queen of Pop, hands down!
Madonna is an icon. The way people dispose of her impact is insane. All of our faves owe her.
This was an excellent career retrospective on Madonna! What a legend! I haven't enjoyed much of her 21st-century music. i can't get behind a LOT of the instagram pics and how much she is altering her face to look young. But I'm so glad we have Madonna, and she'd given us so much great music
