I've been playing guitar as a hobbyist for 56yrs. Every decade or so I'd have a "kinda / sorta, almost" epiphany. This video is a REAL epiphany❗ Thanks Dean & kind regards❗
Dang, man - this is excellent... super clear/helpful. Having the chord suggestions spelled out in two positions, plus, providing ideas for interspersing a few riffs along the way - very practical stuff. Thanks for a great lesson, Sean!
Always good to see tips on using the “inside strings”. It adds a missing Perspective to the caged shapes. Maybe do a whole tutorial on inside strings. This would be helpful to many including budding jazz aficionados.😊
I feel like I never get the two highest strings. When I play acoustic guitar, it always feels so empty when I solo those notes. But I know it's my problem, not the guitar's
Thank yo Thank you! I was on the track but I was a little sloppy with it I just came across it not by accident but at the same time by accident if that makes sense. Now you have fun today for me with a better understanding. 👍🏻👍🏻🍷
Great lesson. If nothing else, it'll allow a player to travel places on the neck they didn't even know existed. I bet it explains a bit of what jazz players do, but they might add the numbers 6,7,8, and 9 to spice things up. Always admired them very much. Thanks.
Hey Sean, this was an absolutely fabulous lesson! Did you ever do the same in different keys like you said you might? That would mean even more fabulousness.
Hey Sean...can you do a series called "guitar for dudes who just want to get good enough to get laid?" All this triad and caged stuff on YT is giving me a headache. Thanks in advance.😁
@@taylorbowers2460 Just shift it five frets higher - that's the same 😁 But seriously you're right. When a banjo and a fiddle joins nothing's better than the Key of G.
As always thank you. These lesions are so helpful. It’s chords and fills I can use tomorrow when I play. Or at least practice tomorrow. This is the second video where it just seemed to click in. And definitely do more videos like this in different keys.
99% of guitarist’s play super fast and make noise Not one can make a simple melody or a song using basic cowboy chords But the race is on for the top noise maker I get it it’s not easy
The Guitar is the most overcomplicating instrument. A hundread thousand channels .. learn the open basic chords. And practice learn to play by ear. I spent thousands on lessons no magic pill. Just play everyday you will get there.
The only thing that's more agonizing than listening to these cliches before we get to the guitar work, is finding out if the lesson is helpful, sorry a bit salty you got an impersonator who is deceiving people with "give aways" and he sounds just like you and got me for 133 bucks for shipping on a vintage les Paul, still kinda depressed over that but hey doesn't matter much
I think the information you are trying to share is useful. But you are speaking so fast and slurring you consonants like a drunk there are large amounts of what you’re saying that are inaudible. My advice : Listen back to what you’re recording. Speak slower. Concentrate on sounding the ts and ss and do or I can’t understand what you’re saying, which makes your video worthless to learn from SLOW DOWN! SPEAK LOUDER! You are trying to teach me something but you’re wasting your effort because I can only understand about half your words
I've never had to post something like this on one of your videos. I understand the pressure of content creation, however rehashing the CAGED system and triad inversions into something new is doing a disservice to aspiring musicians who are anyway struggling with the plethora of information available online. IMO this unnecessarily complicates something that is easily explained otherwise. There was no need to get minor pentatonic shapes in to this. PS: Yeah, go ahead make this your salty comment or whatever it is that you call it.
I like how he showed how to actually use some CAGED shapes for improving. Many TH-cam videos teach you the shapes but not how to use them when playing or improvising.
Ok ! Ok ! ok ???? BUT,,,,,Man,,,, Whats Going On out there in California ???? Ol West and, Yes ! When Im not in the Hospital ? I Need to do and Know this !

Glad it was helpful!
you mean Dean
Big thanks, Sean! Have learnt a lot from your lessons. They're really the most practical lessons on TH-cam.
Great lesson! This will be saved in my favs. Thank you Sean!
Again! Holy moly of a lesson! Thank you!
As a bass player who dabbles in guitar, this is really useful. All the relevant chords of C voiced in the Amin or 5th position. Good work, thank you!
That’s so cool! Thanks!
Opened me up to new lvl of playing..ty.
Happy to help!

Very informative. Thank you!
Thanks Sean, great lesson, so helpful and encouraging
DITO other keys yes … I’ve been playing 4 string baritone tuning and this lesson super helpful!!!😊

You dropped so much useful info in this video. Hot damn.
Great lesson.
Thanks so much!
love it, thanks for the share. the best for me was CDEFGAB chords, thx
Great lesson! Yes please do in other keys✨🙏🏻✨
Coming soon!
Yes. This lesson in the key of G would be great. Going to try to figure it out myself.

Good lesson
I see you have a Martin. Any suggestions on how to keep the rear strap peg from falling out?

B flat?
move one fret up?
@@trioguitar It's an old joke. I used to pick on Sean all the time asking for a Bb lesson. After some jokes he did a few videos on it.
@@tofu9107 ha, ok, fair enough! 😀
This is great. Please do it in key of g. Really good and thank you
Thank you 😘
Excellente vidéo ... in French ! 😉👏👏
Yes! My Style!!!!
im learning from you thanks
Sean, this is so helpful can't believe it. Thanks, man.
Good one! Looks like Im doing something right.
Keep it up!
Good stuff.
B diminished if you’re playing triads. B half diminished only applies if you’re playing seventh chords.
Positions? The only two positions guitarists need are missionary and doggy.
Shoot…I accidentally learned from this.
What a neat challenge ! Thx
Other Keys Yes!
Cheers plums 👍
Is this a Martin 000-18 ?
He’s had beers for sure🥸
7:56 is this a real life or is this just fantasy😂
Great show,,,,,,,uh,,,,I'm lost will get it...
Mixi or mixolydian?
Very good lesson but I wouldn't say 99 percent don't reach that level. You're not Van Halen here.
10:07 You meant the top 4 strings, didn't you? I presume you did.
best youtube guitar teacher sez What?
Thanks so much!
Aye Sean....keeping up with you on that one..im thinking upper string triads in position2 aswell. i fall down on RH technique...thx bud
Where is Andrea???
She’s hiding from you.
99% of guitarist’s play super fast and make noise
Not one can make a simple melody or a song using basic cowboy chords
But the race is on for the top noise maker
I get it it’s not easy
just remember... no money is made above the 5th fret...
Just remember... no repeating patterns are found below the 5th fret.
I love you
The slurring keeps taking me by surprise. Drunk teaching.
Sean I have been doing all that by ear not knowing what I was doing . Now I know thanks to you ....

Is it really THAT hard? I mean, the dude is trying to offer a little humor before the video. Lighten up, pal.
