I absolutely adore first time Dimash reactors! Just to help you with the pronunciation of his name it’s Dee-mawsh Koo-die-bur-gun. He is 23 years old and from Kazakhstan. He sings in between 7 and 10 different languages and plays approximately 7 different musical instruments. Both of his parents are professional singers. Dimash started music school at the age of 5 and continues to this day. His true vocal range is unknown (he won’t say) but from video performances it is at least 6 octaves. He is blessed with an incredible voice but also works hard at perfecting his art. He is also a born performer, you don’t have to understand the language to feel what the song is about. This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and didn't speak any Chinese at that time], and he was the least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.
This was their first time to hear him too. Audience, competitors, musicians were all blown away! They tried to talk him out of using such a difficult song for his first one, and reportedly, the initial rehearsals did not go so well. I'm more drawn to artists that compose their own songs like Jewel and Jason Mraz, because I love words and their writing style. It's different with Dimash because I don't understand what he is singing in most songs. I'm 48 and I watch Dimash reactions almost every day. My 16 year old son came into the room and flatly said, "Don't you ever get tired of him?" Lol
