I wish you could go a little more into how to play 3 bets pot oop when you miss, I know you showed one example but I feel like that is where i lose the most money
Thanks for your videos! Could you record a video with short explanation how to profitable play live poker with "limp limp limp raise, call call call" players? The best option is to play very good hands and always raising, but it's boring. How to play maybe not the best poker, but still be very profitable? How to play Axs Kxs, when you have a lot of players on the flop and fold equity is not great. Does overlimping, limping itself being OOP / IP is ok in such games? How about other hands?
I would say if u have like 3 limpers in front of u. I would like to raise with hands such as kq off maybe like 88s. And ur best best hands ofcourse. And i would actually limp behind with like 22 a5s 67s j10s etc. This is not gto.. but it works. It all depends on ur playstyle tho if u wanna raise ur a5s its all fine aswell. If multiple guys on the flop. Dont cbet often at all. Odds are rhey are calling and then ur on the turn and ur just guessing wheter they have something or not. Because noobs dont like to raise their best hands like sets multiway either. If people are calling stations just dont bluff them literally ever. Ur just prijnting by only betting value. That would be my take
Yo Pete, As Always, great video! Question for this one is, I'm struggling to figure out when I should be more focused on a sort of macro analysis of a range vs range (see that first hand) and when I should zoom way in and start to attempt to lean into *drum roll* "True EV." I'm having trouble knowing when to apply Macro/Meso/Mico Analsys outside of some dumb one size fits all method that clearly won't work in poker like "broader on flop, zoom in more the further down the tree (so rivers etc)" Thanks, I hope that this wasn't too deep a question! Looking forward to Carrot Poker School this Fall when my current poker coaching sub runs out.
In Washington USA we can only bet $300 max per street and per raise so it’s not true no limit. Also we can only raise 3 times per street. On top of that we can max buy $500 in the 1/3 NL game we have. Which one of your charts would be most useful in this type of game given those restrictions
How do you approach 3bet pot if you play like me 200+ bb games live cash game? Spr in a 3bet pot could be 10 or higher. I would like to hear something about the changes you have to do. Thanks.
im a little confused about the reasoning at 18:15 with the smaller raise size. my understanding is that you want to go bigger because you want more fold equity being OOP, and winning the pot outright is nice. if you lower the raise size when you have a 3b/f, isnt this simply exploitable by 4betting smaller more? even if you have multiple sizes where you balance these ATo hands with AA and KK you can deduce alot of that range simply by whether you 5bet jam or flat. i can understand doing this with the entire range, however this reduces ur fold equity you want from ur 3bet bluffs. if you are really confident your opponent is inelastic - like with previous hh with the villian, then yea i can get behind that. i would just like more reasoning as to why you are so quick to label the btn as a rec in this case, because without that confidence, this advice doesnt seem great to me,
For the first hand, wouldn't it be better to put in a 1/4 to 1/5 pot size bet on the river to extract value from medium pairs or even AK, and gets full value from QQ+ anyway since we expect the villain to go all in.
@@TheMiningProbeI disagree, in that spot, assuming they have a better hand than 99 on the quad J board. They would likely either go all in or raise you at least pot. That also depends on the people you are playing against. If they are smart and know what a block bet is, then they will likely do 1 of those 2 things. I would if I had AA or KK here. I don't think I can worry about the possibility of quads and if he has AA and I have KK, I guess I get stacked there.
did a chatpro already said something cause the thunmbnail :D no, ok i can do that for you > When i saw that thumbnail, i thought, YEAH i would love my 3bet JTs with a flop JJJ :) :P
I watched this video but still remain a donk in 3-bet pots. You know how a 3-bet pot happens? The nit reg on the cutoff opens, you 4.5x out the small blind with kts, then the bb tank-flats and the nit reg folds. Now the flop comes 652fd, and you are sitting there with king high dick in hand against an obvious range of 88-jj, ak, aqs, ajs. The button knows you are an aggro donk. What do you do with king high? Do you 1/3 pot and risk being dominated when he peels with his better overs? Do you bet big and try to pry him off of his over pair now than he got the flop he wanted and risk getting piled on? Do you perhaps check like a bitch? I don't know, I'm still a donk! But this is what happens in all 3-bet pots. Sometimes the initial raiser would call with QQ to make sure there is no ace before he stacks off, BUT, one thing is certain: you will be out of position with king high, dick in hand, when you play 3-bet pots. This is by far the most common scenario.
You are making two somewhat contradictory assumptions. The first one is that your opponent knows that "you are an aggro donk". And the second one is that they only call you with a fairly strong range ("88-jj, ak, aqs, ajs"). But if they're folding such a large part of their range preflop to your 3-bet, then you've already made most of your profit and it's perfectly fine for you to give up very often when they call and you miss the flop. If they really know that you are 3-betting fairly light, then they should raise and call wider preflop. In that case their range on most flops, when they called preflop, will be even weaker than yours (while yours will remain uncapped) and it will be easier for you to bluff them.
In theory, the BB shouldn't have a flatting range in this spot anyway. He should 4bet or fold. Most of the hands in the range that you put BB on (88-JJ, AK, AQs, AJs) should be a BB 4bet (at least AK, AQs, AJs, JJ-TT, some 99). If you call a 4bet and miss the flop completely (652, FD and you have no FD), you will have to check-fold to a Cbet anyway. So I think you should be happy that you got to see the flop for free instead of having to call a 4bet, and not feel too bad about check-folding vs a strong range when you miss completely.
One hand 1 underpairs and AK will be very prevalent on that flop bet sizing. Random bluffs will tend to go bigger and be one and done, if villain even has them (depends a lot on their real range) I wonder if for that flop sizing, raising around 2,8 will be better
I used to play 12-14 tables on Pokerstars, absolutely burned out after 6 months, Poker as the love of my life died for me and I hated it, and I used to love and study it since I was 13 or 14 Now, 8 years later I vurned out at regular work, I am going back to poker, found the love again, 2-3 tables at the moment, planning to play maybe 4-5 tables max. But damn did the game change a lot, I am trying to adjust, and this channel really helps, thanks a lot! Luckily I still remember everything and I am still making a really nice profit, but one thing I cannot get my head around is the preflop open sizes 2.2 and 2.5bb on the button? Why is that? When I studied at a certain poker school back then, the sizing was 2bb from button. 2.5bb from cutoff, and 3bb rest From SB vs BB we raised 2.5bb, these days it's 3bb, and I did actually find that working better But I love my 2bb button raise, it rarely gets folds, but invites so many trash hands I can milk post flop, but I guess the new sizing of 2.5bb is to take the pot preflop more often to avoid rake?
The idea is that you don't want to play oop big pots so raise 2.2 from early position and from co and btn you would most likely play in position so you raise 2.5. from sb you don't want to give odds to the opponent
It's more that you want to raise smaller early position rather than bigger later, this is so there is less dead money when you get 3bet. If you're against players unlikely to 3 bet then a large sizing from early position is still great
This channel deserves one million subscribers but we'd all be better off if it didn't have any.
you should have bet bigger on the 826 rainbow board with ATo. I know so because the solver told me so.
I bow to your solver, please please forgive me.
Pete are you qualified to coach? My GTO friend said you should've bet bigger with A10 on 286 @@CarrotCornerPoker

10mins to explain why you shouldn't raise quads vs the aggressor in position?
