I took my students to Gifu in 99’ to visit our sister school. Gifu Prefecture is also famous for it’s fine ceramics. We met a ceramics artist that is considered a national treasure.
The wonder of this is each sheet is just a wee bit different yet so beautiful and strong. Japanese take such pride in anything they make. They are great craftsmen. Im so glad I watched this video

The red box. OMG. I want the red box! I love boxes of all shapes and colors and I love this box !!! And a fan! They are showing all the things I love. I have a lantern. And many boxes. And many fans that were made in China but I did get one from Japan. It’s made from Sandlewood I believe and I love it! And I love these fans that she is making!!
There are many craftsmen and women in the United States. It’s a huge country and there are still people who have passed down the art of making many things. One example is quilts.
Above all, you can see Japan in Japanese washi paper. It is pure, warm and strong, and you can see the flavor that is full of taste. Of course, even Japanese washi paper is not the same. But any kind of Japanese washi paper, as long as it is pure, is all about Japan. Even if you look around, there is no paper like this around.
These baskets are beautiful and absolutely perfectly made. The only thing not so environmentally friendly is the amount of water involved in the process. But this is the way of life, there is always going to be a small cost in making anything.

Веера: завидую аккуратности... и умению долго сидеть в позе лотоса с прямой спиной 😅 Вообще поражаюсь способности японцев много времени проводить в близости к полу так сказать, практически все инструменты почти на земле стоят 😅 Картины: никогда бы не подумала, что это так кропотливо при довольно простом дизайне... Правда если бы довелось воочию пшшупать так сказать, то разницу наверняка бы заметила между ширпотребным принтом и Этим. Последнее из поделок: и снова на полу, как они так могут? 😮 И он не только руками, а и ногами работает, это так... мило ❤ Во всех видео заметна невооруженным глазом любовь к своему дело, отточенность процессов, знания, трудолюбие, аккуратность и много еще чего. Вот с кого недо брать пример: людей работающих руками. Их много в любой стране, но они где то прячутся... What keeps the wet papers from sticking together when they are stacked?
