I'll say it again, this type of improvement should've been done when we were in the Prem, but I'm glad to see it's being dome now, keep up the great work Steve and Pompey. 👍🏻
Fair play, always a great atmosphere at FP, and Pompey fans will fill a new stadium whatever league they're in. Pssst, wanna buy a clock? From a Cardiff fan.
Never one seen a refurb of a stand on this scale, as someone who works in construction I can tell you bringing an old structure up to complying with contemporary regs is an absolute minefield, 9/10 it's cheaper to and far more practical to rip it down and start from scratch so big respect not just going for an "off the shelf" identikit soulless new stand.
Glad to see so much being done finally. It'll be great when it's finished. I do wonder why they didn't just level it and start again, but I'm delighted that the owners are finally dealing with some long standing issues that have long since needed improvements. Well done team.
Owners ripped Disneyland Florida up, rebuilt, so no big surprise owners rebuilding fratton park, best owners we have had, hopefully big push to championship next season, play up pompey
The main structure of the South Stand is listed, so has to be retained, but yes, it would otherwise have been easier & quicker to completely level it & start afresh, they did a fair bit of work to the South stand about 4 years ago, new cladding & roof etc.
Great to see the Eisners investing money into the club and making improvements to the stadium. Some fantastic work being done and will hopefully look great when it's all finished. I just hope the owners invest some decent money into the squad now as well or we will have a fantastic stadium but still be stuck in league one. We really need to be aiming for promotion next season, it's long overdue now.
And people say the Eisners aren't investing. Look at all of this going on, FP is being brought up to grade, something put off for DECADES, while previous owners were only too glad to gut our club of its assets. Thank you Tornante for all of this, we truly to appreciate it 💙
@@user-jq7di9pz8m didn't stop previous owners knowing that'd be the case eventually and ignoring it, they clearly didn't have our future in mind. Add the training facilities and other investments, it's a real commitment to this club and we should be grateful.

Some pretty major work going on there, serious money actually being spent, considering they only have the option of working within the existing size footprint of the old ground, they're doing what they can with the space available & the main structure of the South Stand being listed, limits what can be changed with it.
Always wondered why the North West stand concourse was sloping down towards the Fratton End rather than flat, and why it couldn’t have been adjusted in this redevelopment.
It was just a little over 5 years ago today, I remember going up and down the Blue Army Facebook page, begging them not to sell their shares of the team to an American. As an American myself, I've never liked seeing my fellow countrymen meddle in the game overseas (in England, especially). It's never about the club, its supporters, or even the sport itself. It is always about profit margin, and nothing else. As I type this today, I still can't say if I've changed my mind entirely. The club is in the same place they were when the Eisner's took over. I think we all agree that Pompey is most suited for the Championship, and I think we all figured by now that they'd be there. I DID warn you all that American owners are perfectly comfortable with a state of stasis in the table, so long as the profits stay in the black! You can't say I didn't warn you! But at the same time, there are loads of improvements taking place. Watching this video, the work being done looks brilliant. I think they'll retain the history of Fratton Park, while making it safer and more enduring. It's going to look great when it's all finished. I chose to support Pompey because of its supporters - IMO the greatest in all of global football. I thought I might waver when an American took over, but I'm still here, supporting the club. I just can't help but think if things might be better without the Eisner's around. I can't help but think I was right all along. But I'm encouraged by this video, because I'll always hope that I'm dead wrong. I'll always hope the Eisner's make me eat every word I typed back in 2017. PUP - nothing but love from the States.
Might be fair to remind yourself that all top soccer clubs, no matter what ownership, look to be in profit. The problem is not whether an American, Russian, or other put the money in to run the show. What matters is the investor is honestly there to see the club develop, succeed and make money. After all, it is a business- not a charity! We hope the Eisners are good business people and invest for the long haul, see success and make some money! BTW the last three covid years have really not helped any soccer club!
@@keithhorner1671 - like I said, I have nothing but hopes that the Eisner's will be good ambassadors of the club. I never thought for a moment they would be - and voiced that wherever I could - but I still have hopes I'll be wrong. They certainly haven't gone so far as to prove me right, at least!
Fair play but as a Bluenose I'm kinda jealous that the refurb is up and running at a good pace and we have two stands that have been half closed for nearly a year and a half now and only a few seats have been ripped up.
Love the work on the South stand and what they will do with the limited Milton end. But a bit disappointed they couldn't go with a whole brand new north stand, that in my opinion is what we really needed. I know there is plans and the north lower is the base of a new stand overall but I can't see it happening personally

Say what you want about the Eisners, but at least they’re investing money in the infrastructure of the club - Something no other owner has done. That said, we do need serious investment in the first team otherwise we’ll have a lovely renovated stadium that is empty if we continue to rot in league one
The owners investing money in the club? Wonderful. They are billionaires, aren't they? What about increasing the capacity? A 20,000 ground is inadequate for the PL - should they ever get there of course. St Marys 32,000. Brighton 30,000. Pompey could easily get 30,000+. Sorry if I appear cynical but I'm not impressed with the Eisners.
It’s easy to say increase capacity but have you tried getting to fratton park when it’s a sell out? It’s a nightmare imagine doing that with 30000. As the owners said the infrastructure needs to be improved but they can’t do that without the council and network rail who aren’t being any help. Also yes St Mary’s and Brighton have bigger stadiums but they have terrible atmosphere and rarely actually sell out games. Quality over quantity.
Thank god for American owners who care for Portsmouth fc play up pompey, hopefully when ground finished, owners will give Cowley money for promotion push to championship,
Just to add: the owners and CEO seem very pleased with themselves for redeveloping Fratton. But I don't think they are concerned at all about the team and are quite content for Pompey to remain a lower level club.
Once Portsmouth get established in the Prem some time in the future they could easily fill a 40k stadium. Fratton park has got character and charm but it's had its day
