My favorite gimmick to pull with Alpharius is infiltrating a Levithan Dreadnought Talon onto the midfield. After all, Dreadnoughts aren’t vehicles. ;) I also just recently realized that a Terminator command squad (which can be taken as a retinue) out performs my special Legion Terminators…lovely.
RE Choosing a reaction, you could choose to gain a movement reaction and react twice without augury scanners for Intercept with two different units. This is a good choice turn 2.
The legion seems hyper strong rules wise, not units wise, and tbh Alpharius is kinda awful imo, the preferred enemy last edition was only hyper strong due to how insanely efficient plasma was, and preferred enemy took away the draw backs. With Plasma being sorta redundant now, Preferred Enemy kinda follows with this, let alone the fact it's now only 1 turn, firing a whole 2k army, I tend to only get like 4-5 rerolls aside from Tac Bolters which adds like an extra 3. The worst part despite having it on the model, they also took away his Cognis Signum and other various stuff that made him help support. It's almost like they intended for him to become a combat unit... But he has no innate rerolls or master crafted, and instant death gets way out preformed by Brutal. Alpharius also is annoyingly fragile to the point I've actually lost combat to a Praetor, Apothecary and Legion Champion Vs Alpharius. Dynat basically does his job... Aside from 1 turn rerolls, but for 1/3rd then points. And even then he's a bit off. Granted, warlord traits + reaction + stealing a unit, as I said before the legion rules are insane, just not their units

Exodus is most likely intended to not be unique. It's implied in the lore that Exodus is a title that many operatives share.

important difference between the warlordtrait of dynat and alpharius: dynat's is infantry only. alpharius' isn't.

Exodus is horribly over-costed. A plain Legion Vigilator is WAY better.
Also...does the Retinue rule of the stolen unit work? I thought it didn't.
I will say alpharius is imo the coolest looking primarch model, and i dont even play or collect alpha legion.😂

Khan is also good. And that new Horus model is ace. There is a clear gap in model quality, with Alpharius being the first of the not-derpy models.
