Vre is severally under staffed. You got vrc holding a caseload of 200 ppl to one counselor when federal law has a 1 to 125 caseload. They counselors are overwhelmed. As a vrc you’re doing 10 jobs in one. Imagine doing that for 200 ppl. This is why the program is suffering. And this is coming from someone who use to work as a VRC and I took pride in everything I did. And made sure I serviced all my veterans timely and efficiently
Something that could help the VR&E Veterans and counselors is to ask for some service help from the DVOPs/ Veterans Employment Representatives at the American Job Centers. Understaffing has to be addressed and hopefully the new administration understands this when they plan for the VA's future.
I truly do believe VRE is an impactful business line, but it fails to provide adequate service. Due to lack of impactful training, limited collaboration with field staff and lack of proactive strategies.
