I followed the Mission Act to the tee to get care I requested. Care no one the VA could do but a VA approved procedure. MY Pain Management and the rest of my VAMC refused to write the referral letter to get that care that I needed. I suffer from a 25 year back injury and it collapsed on itself back in January 2024. I sought care since then and found this proceudure that I dug into deeply and studying it down to its beginnings before approaching the VA to receive care. I got no where for a year and as I was trying to get the care I required I got worse. I became house bound in the fall. Luckily I was able to get the procedure done last week and I am fine now and no longer in excruciating pain. Many vets arel ike me and suffer chronic lower back pain and this procedure will help them get better, but as the VA is they won't let vets get it done
We, physicians in the VA, ARE NOT ALLOWED to place ASAP OR STAT consults, meaning we can’t use that label on our consults unless we find a community provider ourselves and call them to get their acceptance of the patient. If you do use that label which is an option, your consult will be cancelled by CITC.
I am a veteran, and my community care provider has repeatedly sent records to the VA. My VA provider has told me it takes months, sometimes even years, for the medical records department to upload the records into my VA record for her to see. I have had to use my community care provider portal to email my records to my VA provider for her to look over. I know the records were sent by my community provider.
