I've owned numerous Yamahas from SBGs to Revstars to Pacificas since the 80s. What I love about Yamaha is they simply build excellent instruments without following silly trends. They do their own thing and do it well.

That was great playing, boss. Crisp and clean, John Robson kicking it up a notch on the solos! Inspired me!

Just get a long length screwdriver, John. That will make it easier and safer to adjust the bridge. You will be able to get in at the correct angle.
Much cheaper than buying a new bridge.

It's a beautiful guitar, honestly think that this is THE best guitar in the world in this price range.
I bought two of them. One tuned normally with 010 to 046 strings and one tuned a semitone down with heavier strings.
The pickups too are absolutely flawless for this pricerange and they punch way above the price asked.
Yamaha guitars are seldom "exiting" but I don't care about that. I just want a top of the line instrument for the price that I am paying. I don't think any brand can beat Yamaha when it comes to price vs quality.
Thank you for the video John.

Glad you like it. I have the 311 for my 'does everything' electric too John, the quality is excellent. I don't mind the bridge or truss rod adjustment cover tbh. I've owned just about all of the Pacificas as well as the other big brands incuding several Mike Stern versions for a lifetime and would recommend them to anyone. The issue with this guitar compared to the 611 is the bridge pickup output, it's around 10K so when split is very thin and not really Tele-ish. The 611 (which I've had) has an SD SH14 which is around 14K so a fair bit fatter, so split is beefier. The 311 P90 has slightly higher output than the 611 and is great as you say. If they're good enough for Birelli Lagrene - say no more!!

I bought the 311H about 6 years ago and found it used in my favorite colour Red metallic less than 1 year old for about 200€ . Lucky me! After reading a few youtube comments about the humbucker I bought a splittable14k humbucker . But the Seymour Duncan Model from the 611 was relatively expensive. So I bought a Chinese Model which had comparable figures on ebay from Oripure for less than 40 € which is not bad at all.

yea, pickups straight onto body rather than on the scratchplate so more tele deffo. i think the bridge overhang thing is perhaps a bit for your palm to rest on?

I was always like John in the Past - i gigged with a Les Paul Studio GEM with P90 and a Strat with a Humbucker (in SC Format) at the Bridge - i bought me and just tested also a "Best of both world" Guitar - The "Stagg Silveray Nash Deluxe" with 3 P90 Pickups and a traditionally Strat 5 Way Switch + a Miniswitch to bring in the neck PU - if you want to see it it is on my little Channel KowasMusic - there is the Test - Kind regards Thomas

I like the idea of the 611 which has Seymour Duncan pups and the flame top, but a bit pricey compared to 311, and the 311 stock Yamaha pups sound pretty good.

Hi John. I love your reviews. I have a 611 vfm Yamaha. With a , S P90 on the neck & a custom 5 humbugged on the bridge. I love the guitar . I do a lot of recording.& when I’m in trouble , the 611 always gets me out of trouble . WHAT IS THE DIFFERENT BETWEEN. THIS ONE & the 611vfm ?? Thank YOU .

What are you vaping John? I don’t smoke in the house so I Vape in the house and smoke when at work and in the car. I had stopped totally smoking for a couple years but I got tired of carrying the vape kit around. Back 6-7 years ago vaping wasn’t as convenient as it is now. Drippers and whatnot. Cheers mate and happy holidays.

There's something about having a fatter sound coming from the neck pickup. I though it was your early Christmas present (along with that ordered Gotoh bridge).

For me the main issue of this guitar is the fact that the head isn't matched with the color of the body. It ruins the aesthetic of all the variants and make it pretty ugly imho. But i'm gettin one anyway (the white or black version. I think that they are the 2 that match less worse with the head between the 4 versions but i thing i'll go with the white because i've already got a black guitar).
