You're one of the first to compare my man, thank you! I totally agree, low light isn't the same as nighttime shooting, it's more like indoors, dusk, forests, and stuff like that. That being said, I think OA5 has more potential and variety for experimenting and getting the best results. It was kind of the same with OA4 when you shoot in flat, you can do a lot in post-editing. Maybe that's why it's Pro this time
Yah, the camera is still young and these were my findings out of the box and out of the camera. I realized with some post or custom settings you could probably tweak that footage a bit more but that's not my goal here. Coming from a camera sales perspective, I want to offer the avg consumer something easy and something that doesn't require a lot of skills to use a camera to get good results, that's all, some will try to make this into a professional cinematography debate and I find it kind of humorous 🤣🤣
You are correct on your assessment and comments. It does appear the A5P cheats to obtain lower light ability. This comparison does show the stark differences.
I was actually thinking the same thing. I will do one with just the standard video. I'm trying to stay away from making custom adjustments because I want to target the masses of users that don't have the knowledge or skills to do post and why most of my samples are "straight out of camera" results. There are no sharpness settings for SuperNight mode unfortunately, maybe they should have put that setting in that mode ;)
@@MiyagisRant I agree with your point about Super Night mode not having sharpening settings. But I think that most people who buy the Action 5 either already know that you can adjust sharpness or deserve to know that they have a camera on which sharpness and noise reduction settings are an option.
@@allenmyers8568 You would be surprised, I used to sell cameras, the amount of ppl who bought GoPros hardly know how to power one on lol. @@MiyagisRant its hard to say why, maybe cameras are mounted in different spot on the windshield with some scratches or smutting, or maybe Ace got some flare reduction function....
@@davideczek Both cameras are 1/2" apart side by side so the mounting shouldn't be an issue, both pointing straight out, if it was on an angle I could understand but I made sure. No scratches on my windshield, there better not be lol. oh, I know there is flare reduction, that's that AI working for sure and it does a good job. A4 suffers from the same problem. Will be interesting to see AP2 with dual AI working though, we might see something ground breaking with the new camera, not surprised with Insta360, they've been coming out with crazy stuff lately 🤣

Watch it again and where I point out where spots are where it's more clear on the Ace Pro, look at the grass on the sides, when the A5 is sharp it's over sharpened, ie. at the beginning coming out of the garage, that's way to bright and over sharpened and doesn't look natural. The street light bulbs, Ace Pro is more defined. The texture on the road. Also, the colors are way off on the A5Pro, you can't honestly say they are accurate.
You're correct! We are in 2024 and low light shooting is becoming increasingly a factor in action cameras. Long time action cameras need to realize that action and events dont' start at 9 am and end at 5 pm. Something I debate with my wife often as she has always been a "9 to 5" person and I have to make aware to her that there's the 16 hours of the day that operates still... from someone who worked a lot of graveyard shifts and restaurant industry like me :)
It just needs some tuning in a firmware update. It definitely resolves more detail than the Ace Pro in other situations. Has your Action 5 been updated to the firmware version released on 9/19?
Agreed, any new launch cameras will have some sort of issues and usually (hopefully) addressed in future firmware. DJI has always done well with their updates.
Yes, both cameras have the latest firmware, I think with older Ace Pro firmware it probably would be a bit worse as they tweaked PureVideo after the last major update.
Still young for the DJI A5P, as you know I like both but this is not a good beginning launch for sure. I hear they are going to fix the bitrate issue in the next firmware which I imagine it will drop soon.
Great video man! It was hard to find a low light comparison for these cameras in actual low light lol. I wonder if there is going to be even more improvement in low light with Ace Pro 2 since it was announced not too long ago or just pull the trigger on the Ace Pro.
Thanks! We will see generation 2 PureVideo with Ace Pro 2, so I'm hoping it will be improved. If you haven't bought one yet, I would wait til the AP2 is out. This way you can compare the two and you can bet the Ace Pro will be on sale when AP2 launches, can't lose either way I think ;)
I can see McDonald's from a lot further away on the ace pro compared to the action 5 pro, where it looks readable from up close. Even then I could barely read it, on the ace pro side I can tell it says mccafe and sifton centre. The colors too! light colors show up better on the ace pro. The lenses might be a factor as well. probably the reason why the ace pro looks blurry when using up close when vlogging is cause it's set into infinity compared to the action 5 pro where they set the minimum focus distance closer but suffers from details from further out. Idk just my two cents. as I watched more, I noticed the exit sign on the car wash was readable also compared to the action 5 pros blownout lights. If I want a brighter ace pro video like the Action 5 pros, I'd just downgrade it to the older firmware. LOL. then it will just be a battle of brightness. I also have reason to think that A5 Pro is brighter cause it's using a slower shutter speed compared to the ace pro. that's why it has more jitters.
