    The move your chair via the app is meant to be for an empty chair to bring your chair to you if you aren't close by. Those saying about water they're a sealed unit and you can go out in the rain, they're not exactly going to get too wet in a shower and the chances of submerging them completely is minimal. You should mention things like cruise control are an added cost, but they're pretty light as power assist items go.

    I am a C5-C6 quadriplegic and I have owned a set of the Twion wheels for about a year and a half now. I can say that while they are working I really like them for every day use. They make maneuvering the wheelchair effortless and make going long distances much more possible. The reason I chose these over the smart drive, for example, was their ability to help break on down hills as well as their ability to work in tight spaces. However, I had to send them back for repairs 5+ times and each time they have the wheels for at least three weeks. This last time they had my wheels for a month and when they returned the wheels they had swapped them for a different set of used wheels, so the handrails I had paid $100 to have wrapped were gone and they had shoddily glued rubber to the new hand rims. Not only that but the center axles were missing so there would've been no way to mount the wheels to the chair. And if that weren't enough, one of the wheels would shut itself off a few seconds after being turned on every time we tried turning it on. Needless to say the wheels have to be sent back again which will mean at least another two weeks without the wheels. Their customer service is awful and it is nearly impossible to reach anyone at the company to find out what's going on. they don't offer any temporary wheels while they have yours for repair so if you rely on your wheels to work consistently or if you can't deal with long periods without them these are definitely not the wheels for you. Though, for set of wheels costing over $6,000 US, this doesn't seem like a reasonable concession to have to make for anyone.
    PS the only thing I really used the app for was to increase the top speed, check battery life, and to keep the wheels from automatically turning themselves off after 15 minutes of inactivity. As a quadriplegic I found cruise mode to be dangerous. It was difficult to initiate and set the speed and to get the wheels stopped you have to apply quite a bit of force (due to the lack of hand function), to be fair I don't think this mode is designed for quadriplegics.

      Hi Kenji, I'm also a C5-6. I currently have the emotion M15 wheels and I'm debating getting a new set. My M15 wheels are almost 10 years old and I still only have to charge them every third day (I'm usually in the regular gear setting and only use the low gear setting for short periods of time). How long do the batteries last on the Twion wheels before they need to be recharged?

    • @ZebraGirl97
      @ZebraGirl97 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@takingback10 have your company check the balance. That could mean they aren't well balanced or something in the chair is off - for me that happened when one axel was loose and sliding somewhat. But Twions/powered wheels like this are not a good fit for someone with very different strength in the arms, you have to be able to match strength somewhat to keep it even. The wheels where you push forward once and then hold and the powered wheels automatically push may be a better option in that situation.

      such informative and in-depth comments are really helpful to folks like myself who are in a market for an assistive device to add to one's manual chair... flashy ads with lots of fluff and stated claims which are often overly optimistic, or even comparison videos by new users, often omit the practical aspects in everyday usage of a product, reliability factor or how shoddy the customer/repair service might be when things go south... one simply can't rely on such when considering shelling out a crapload of $ on a product... your comment is much appreciated and i'll consider another device than the twion as a result...

      @buffalo1d I love my wheels and I've come to realize that there are different Generations or whatever of these wheels mine assist but don't keep going , if I stop pushing then they will eventually stop rolling. @@buffalo1d VERY late reply but they are this product (linked) which have assistive tech which allows many drive options, one being that you can push once and it will maintain the speed without further pushing which I think is really great, it also has a wheel lock thing so that when wheeling up hill the chair can only very slighly roll backwards if you stop pushing the rims or even take your hands of them entirely, makes going up hill a great deal easier, you do need to be able to get them in the car though and they weigh 7.8 Kg's each wheel! but they are by far the best assistive option I have seen for manual wheelchairs. www.wickedwheelchairs.com.au/alber-power-assist.html

      Medicare has coded the Twion wheels which means you can get them paid for if Medicare paid for your wheelchair and you had a chair it at least a year. Smart drive and Twion share the same billing code for power assist so you can choose which you’d like. Not all providers sell them so you may have to call around.

      @@axlrollz Yes, exactly, I have never seen such tiny impractical wheels, I thought my old chairs wheels were bad enough and those were perhaps 2.5 times the size, perhaps 3 times as large. I now have the frog leg front wheels with a decent sized front caster otherwise its simply dangerous as with my previous wheelchair, a small twig or stone could stop them and throw you forward.

    • @SnowySpiritRuby
      @SnowySpiritRuby 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow - 3 years later and the app still isn't available in the U.S.? I'm surprised. The total lack of water resistance (as well as the weight, but that's actually beside the point here) is the exact reason I went with SmartDrive instead - I might not live where it rains a lot (unlike someone I know of who got Twions at first then switched to SmartDrive), but we still get tons of snow and lots of puddles in the winter.

    • @ZebraGirl97
      @ZebraGirl97 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SnowySpiritRuby the app being unavailable is not an issue of time or being unable to port the app to the USA. It's not allowed by the FDA, they don't want any remotely controlled wheelchairs and have banned the app.

      Why are you worried about an ultralight chair when you have motors propelling you? As for the "getting wet at all" 3 years in all weather conditions w/o a moisture issue. Truth be told I did seal the push rim sensors with 100% silicone to prevent water from entering. Lets head back to where I hunt. Your Smartdrive wouldn't make it past the first 100 yards.

  • @ConnyNordlicht

    Yes, but not right at all! You've to pay for cruise mode extra 98 € once. It's bound to your email /konto- excess. Second: it's forbidden to drive in remote - mode while sitting in the chair cause of some bad acidents! so you can pust once but have to controle the way by your wheels as used to. And: often it's great! Way better than the big unesthetic thing you showed first! There the armrims are too high also. Don't like it! I myself have got a similar assisted system: the 6 E - motion M25 by Alber! That's so fantastic, here in vid. These are the same funktions! I guess mine are better to been controled by persons of tiny handnktion, too. It's got so many more to give! Look at it, it's worth it! Best for you, be blessed, yours, Conny
