      Thank you, glad you liked it. Yes, it was a very relaxing time being by the water with some gentle rain. It was quite far from home but worth the drive.
      See you next week!

      So I've heard but the 4 times I've been there Its been pretty much empty, apart from one time there were several campers. The area is so massive theres always room...the only problem is, its 5 hrs away!

    Thanks for all your great videos & thanks for taking Digger. He's a great companion & very well trained. I was surprised you didn't set up camp with the tent but it was wonderful to see you in the truck. Thanks again, Sir....I love the sounds and the sights of your beautiful country.

      Hello! Digger is a good boy. He love's to go camping with me. He's very inquisitive and full of energy, so it's good to give him plenty of space to run around. The tent is a very capable one but when it's cold or raining I prefer to sleep in the truck, plus I like to mix it up every know and then. I'm still in the same campsite for next week's video. C ya then! 👍

      Hi, Suzanne!
      Yeah, a very relaxing camp with the gentle rain and set up by the water front. Sleeping in the car was nice and cosy and Digger like it coz he is right next to me instead of being ‘so far away from me’ on the floor in the tent! Lol…he’s such a big baby 🙄
      No trout unfortunately, not even a carp! But it was nice sitting there with my thoughts.
      I’m still there for next weeks video. C ya then!

    Very cozy with the two of you in the truck cab. My heart melted at the end with the scene of you and Digger sitting together beside the river, your arm around him while fishing. True best friends!! Heartwarming video Frank!

    • @4X4CA
      @4X4CA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks, Chris
      With the passenger seat being easily removed with four bolts and a piece of ply for a base, it's a very comfy bed. I'll be doing a lot more of this set up when it's cold or windy. A wet tent and a flapping tent in the wind is no fun to deal with.
      I feel very lucky to have such a bond with Digger...he's asleep with his head on my lap as I write this 😀

    What a lovely spot to camp. Setting up and breaking down in the rain is such a drag but that huge canopy sure does help!

      Hi, I don’t mind setting up in the rain. It can be a bit rough setting up in the heat of the summer sun! As you say, once the gazebo goes up I have plenty of cover.

    Quality as always Frank. 8 more days then I'm off to the Northern Rivers for a 3 night break, going solo on this one so leaving Jack the Knucklehead at home, I need a break and trying to keep an eye on an 8 month old Lab is just not going to fit the bill! Thinking he will be coming on next months trip though I need to get him used to being a camp dog. Thanks for keeping me going in the mean time and give Digger a scratch behind the ear for me.

      Hey, Steve, Your welcome, mate 👍
      Enjoy your trip up the Northern Rivers! I might be up that way myself in a couple of months...I'm making a road trip out a mate's wedding in Cairns.
      Have fun teaching Jack how to behave when out in the wild...it will be worth it in the end. I miss Digger when I don't take him camping with me.
      Cheers, mate

      One of my many favourite spots to go camping. It’s beautiful in the summer and great to be able to cool off in the lake when it’s hot.
      Digger is easily trained as he is highly food motivated!…he’ll do anything for a ‘scooby snack’ lol

    I miss seeing my Shane’s smile from Heaven but honestly I love a good rain n a cozy setting n this WAS cozy.
    Digger owns me n he’s not even mine. Digger ? If I can’t see my sons smile then ur face sure makes up for it. I love u Digger !
    Frank was that ur guitar playing at the beginning ? If so it’s very good. Thank u for sharing ur n Diggers time with us.
    The shot of u n Digger sitting 2gether at the edge of lake ? Brought to me tears. That was SUCH a tender sight !!!
    One last thing: Frank n Digger Wilde. Just a suggestion. 😉

    Cheers!

    • @4X4CA
      @4X4CA  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, Paula, welcome to the channel! What kind of adventurers do you like to do? I entered the dam via Batlow...head towards the hospital in town and follow the signs to the dam from there. it's about 15mins along sealed roads, then it's a steep, winding unsealed but graded track down to the water level. turn left at the bottom of the hill and after a couple of km's you'll be by the water's edge. There are many places along the foreshore to camp. accessing the dam from the other side is via the NP and is not allowed atm due to bush fire damage...plus, it's NP so if there is camping, it will be fee's and restrictions etc.

    Hi, mate. Subbed. I came to this video because I followed the thumb which showed you sleeping in the cab but it didn't really show the set up.
    I drive a twin cab modded Nav and been putting my brain around how I might set that up as I regularly do long drives and just want to pull over for a sleep.
    So whats the set up?
    How tall are you? Lol.
    Thanks, man. Subbed.

    • @4X4CA
      @4X4CA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, mate
      I removed the passenger seat…just four bolts and a wire plug. I also removed the rear seats, again just four easy bolts. The rear seats do fold up but it doesn’t give me enough length. I then lay a sheet of ply to make a level base and pad it out with a quality camp mat…I use an Oztent inflatable.
      I’m 5’11, any taller and it wouldn’t work for me.
      I hope this helps👍

    • @Shilo-fc3xm
      @Shilo-fc3xm ปีที่แล้ว

      @@4X4CA Thanks, man. Yeah, I thought I could see at least the back of the rear seat had been removed so thought that might have been the case.
      Cheers, digger. 6'1. Lol.
      I have a steel canopy that's a foot to short. Never seen it done but Im toying around with fitting a sheet in the middle to separate left and right sides, adding a small security screened boat window in the side and separate closable/sealable fan forced vent in the front wall for circulation as well as a single draw large enough to actually fit to the canopy so it can be pulled out of the rear on the driver's side, strengthened with the back removed so I can just pull it out and my feet can fit into it thereby extending that space, if you're with me.
      I think its doable but early days.
      Thanks again.
      Bundy.

      @@Shilo-fc3xm Sounds like a good plan! I was thinking doing something similar with the Kings MT trailers. they have a great lay out and a massive space but it's just a little too short to sleep in. I decided I may as well just get a purpose built 2nd hand camper for 1/2 the price. It is fun building your own though. I'd like to see some photo's when your done 👍

    • @Shilo-fc3xm

      @@Shilo-fc3xm if it was only a little longer...and didn't have such a high ball weight, it would be my perfect trailer. I've looked at putting a trailer together my self using off the shelf components but the estimate ran north of 20K. If I could weld it would be less than half that. so now Im just looking for a 2nd hand forward fold for about 10K

    What happened to the tent?

    • @4X4CA
      @4X4CA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, Chris
      I’d much rather sleep in the car when it’s raining and/or windy.
      I take the seat out and make a flat surface…it’s very comfortable.
      The tent is capable but this way I don’t have to deal with a wet tent when I get home (unpack, set up, dry out…if it’s still not raining, then pack up again) plus, I like to mix up my camping set up.

    i was wondering how do you rate the Kings premium stove , does it draw ok, I'm thinking of buying one, cheers

    • @4X4CA
      @4X4CA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it draws ok. I prefer this one over the old version they used to sell...the door was a weak point and the whole thing wasn't big enough for me. This new one is a better design. I mostly use it when it's raining, so I can have a fire under the gazebo. with the lid off and just used as a fire pit it doesn't draw up the chimney, filling the gazebo with smoke. I looked at a few designs and think this is the best for the money, for me. It is big and heavy but cheap and robust. if I didn't need a chimney and just wanted a heavy duty fire pit, I would get one of those small spit roast pits from Bunnings. I had one of those for years and was great for cooking or just as a fire...and of course a spit roast but my current camp set up 'needs' a chimney.

    • @Murls
      @Murls ปีที่แล้ว

      @@4X4CA Thanks for the getting back to me , i was thinking of using when it rains like you said, but was worried about if it did fill up my awning area with smoke if i used it, so you have answered my question , you are right about them being cheap, they are down to $149.00 delivered at the moment , thanks for your help, cheers

    • @4X4CA
      @4X4CA  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries, glad I could help 👍 ...even with the lid on it can leak a little bit of smoke but a light breeze in the right direction cures all. Also, the dog leg in the chimney doesn't quite give it enough reach under the gazebo. Even with rain coming straight down, it still drips on the top of the fire....I'm thinking of getting one of those hot tent 'push through things' so I can put the fire pit further under the gazebo.
