One I'd add: Get good at using the the camsuite. Think of it like throwing up a mini-spy drone. Find a safe spot, then unlock the camera. You can use it to _fly_ around the settlement, and you can see guard patrols in real time. You won't be able to tag them, of course. But you can at least use your _drone_ to get a bead on their positions and observe their routes. It has a limited range, so I usually go sector by sector, or get somewhere central to cover an equal area. It's a really handy tool to peek behind walls and larger buildings and find where everyone is so I can tag them. And, if you're really lucky, you can even tailgate someone entering a building and get a peek inside.
Great breakdown of the mechanics. I'm a fan of this gameplay as well. EDIT: I've edited out my original tip here to avoid confusion as it was patched out several patches ago.
The most important -> disable alarm first! if u dont -> disable alarm first! So u have more time to kill all peoples and do what u want without new enemies at settlement.
This guide is awsome. I am so glad I finally found this. So much info i've seen about how to do Odyssey missions starts with "step 1: Equip your ship with dumbfire missiles step 2: nuke the settlement from orbit. etc.....etc....." In other words 'lets bypass the whole on foot gameplay mechanic and just cheese the whole thing from my ship' I mean yea that PROBABLY works, MOST of the time. But FFS how bout someone figures out how to do the missions the game way. It's not like it's impossible or anything, as you've proved here. So thank you for this and the other guides on doing Odyssey stuff. :)
Appreciate it! Dumfires are a solution but, as you say, it's not really "on foot" is it? This kind of cheese solutions are what inspired me to start these guides in the first place. I'm back playing the game (T8 update is pretty big news for me) and I may revisit this guide as quite a bit of it is outdated (i.e. you can't just land on the pads any more like you could when I put this video together).
Great stuff. One tip, worth sharing, is if a guard starts scanning and you would be in trouble from it, you can interrupt (once) by drawing your weapon, and holstering again. They will forget about the scan.
If you go to a terminal and target every staff member once, they will automatically be scanned and appear on your radar. Also, as of update 2 you can double click to instantly transfer/overload with the energy link.
Sanning an NPC is actually legal, however if the scan reveals that the NPC in question has a bounty, and that NPC sees you scan them, they will become aggressive, which will usually bring in the rest of the settlement
This was an absolute joy to watch and listen to CMDR. I really liked your breakdown at the beginning of "Tell them what you are planning doing", I wonder if you were trained in a professional role? It is disappointing there aren't non-lethal takedowns, to avoid bounties… and, you know, they may have kids waiting at home. Also, so far I've seen two entrances only on one building type (PWR), having only one entry/exit (sort of) make sense in vacuum, but this reduces flexibility of stealthy approach. I want options!
Unfortunately all takedowns have to be lethal because of the PEGI rating system in the UK. Apparently killing is PEGI-16, but being able to incapacitate someone and _then_ kill them bumps it up to PEGI-18. I guess it's considered more violent. And since it wouldn't make sense to make incapacitated targets invulnerable, this seems to have been their solution. Personally I'd prefer the Energylink Overload being a non-lethal stun gun, and that's how I head canon it for my own enjoyment.
@@MarkZeroGaming does it mean that games like Thief / DeusEx / Prey etc have to be 18+? It is a logical explanation, but feels bad for games that go to great lengths to give you the freedom NOT to murderise everyone in sight.

How does one infiltrate a a power centre with two researchers non-lethally? It seems nearly impossible with their patrol patterns. You can't disable the alarms without killing/being seen.
Yeh, these days (things changed since the release of this guide), if you wish to remain undetected, you cannot land too close. 4-5km is excessive though. Around 1.5km should do it, closer if the settlement is sat on terrain that offers covered approach at lower altitude.

Yes if they don't have their shields up and you're not seen - the energylink overload attack does make sound though, so it can be heard within the red circle range (maybe less). But remember, this a kill, you don't "knock them out".

I thought all soldiers had shields and hit points are the same on all parts of body. How can you stealth a mission if you can't kill anyone with one shot.
Shields are always turned off by default and locational damage exists (head shots cause more damage). Many upgraded weapons can kill in one shot with no shields up.
You can see me demonstrate this in my guide to stealth combat.
merci tu parle suffisament letement pour etre compris
Npcs hearing you in zero atmosphere environments shouldn’t reasonably be a thing
Sound in space is a thing in Elite dangerous though. It's been that way since it launched.
I guess i am to old, or to stupid for this. Every time i am trying to do this (to unlock Terra Velasquez) i get killed. EVERY TIME !
stelth take down missing from the game!!
There's no way that people are actually saying that the stealth on this game is good, it needs a polish.
Flash light? Odd accent you have for an American 🤣
That's what I believe it's called in the game, mate! Don't blame me! :D
No. Stealth is so broken in this game
