@@i.r6990 I remember to have switched from Feral Main to Hunter Main in cata because I couldn't stand the fact ferals don't escape root effects anymore. I indeed was a crybaby since I was 14/15 yrs old. Nowdays, I See Feral still being very very decent in PvP. Sadly, no FF Clearcast insanity as in wotlk pve. Missed the bearweave tho.. felt like my 99 parses were less worthy yet finally be #1 dps. Anyway. I Quit in wotlk and might come back for Cata now
@@Jtfyoo hunter was my bread and butter in Cataclysm, with elemental shaman being my 2nd favorite dps spec (FL and DS patches with quality spec changes like no CL cd and imba tier sets / not so much t11). Luckily, those spec changes from 4.3 will be present from the start of the expansion.
The change that ruined the class for me was the new animation for lighting bolt and chain lighting. 😢
I wanna say that happened in Legion.
Cata actually looks so much better than the small little bolt from vanilla
i hope they buff earthquake for cataclysm classic to an amount where it is useful in any AoE scenario. i mean it is the capstone talent of the entire tree. feels bad not speccing into it. especially in cataclysm. bad talent tuning existed in classic, tbc and a bit in wotlk. in cata this should be in the past.
I really want to play Ele, but the new lightning bolt animation is just horrible :( I would love it if they made an option to change it back to an actual bolt
personally don’t mind it but there is probably a way to play around with the game files and have the old animation back, which will be a lil iffy for pre-pull LB action since I‘d say new LB animation hits the target faster

I am hearing ele in cata is not as strong as ele in wotlk (in PVP) - could you please explain why?

Would it be worth switching to Goblin or Dwarf?
Dwarf has no combat gain, they do get an Archaeology bonus, meaning it's easier to get the staff from it.
Goblin has rocket jump + 1% haste
that being said, we should wait for sims but I would assume Orc/Troll is superior
Cata fights are about burst phases, so Troll is bis, with herbalism for extra haste, you want loads of mastery so you can blast the sh1t out of bosses during BL

@@ImFirstBlood I mean if we go off original release and private severs, u use INT to snapshot your fire ele , hence orc and those professions are good, you have ele mastery up a lot, and herbalism MIGHT be useful p1 where u dont have much haste, but you will run into haste cap real fast with that.
Yea earthquake is one of the worst spells they were given. The cast time is too long.

Elemental is worst dps in the raid group, they are used for utility. It is seen as easiest class to play in cata. Great for raid leading.
The worst is a little strong of a take lol. They are not the top dps..sure. But not the worst.
@squidsgames1270 fire mage does far more single target. Warlock does more single and multi target, warrior does more, dk does more, rogue does more. They all do more except maybe series and boomy. Spriest, boomy, and ele give same spell haste to grp, so ideally you'd only bring 1 to a 10 man. I would bring either boomy or ele because they simply provide better utility than spriest for 10m. In dragon soul ele is OP with cunning and DTR, but they truly only shine if they have dtr in t12. And they are just utility in t11, but very good utility. Easiest rotation, very dependent on good group.
absolutely wrong. we're not the best ranged DPS but we are top 3-5 with legendary staff.
It depends on the fight. If you don't have staff, you are simply the worst single-target dps in the raid group. If you're on lord ryo HC, you're gunna have highest dps no problem. If you look at Baleroc dps, there is no way ele sham can compete. Staff helps, but that just puts it up to hunter level.@@EleEnjoyer Most casual guilds won't even have an ele sham with staff, because mage and warlock should obtain staff first. After that, dudu/sham, then Spriest. My reasoning prioritizes the only dps challenge Firelands gives, which is Rag Phase 3.
AHAHAHAHAHAHA, maybe when Cata first launched they were pretty bad, but we are going into Cata with 4.3.4 patch where ele got some really good buffs, ele will be top 5 mark my words =D

Then play a mage like an average normie would.
For 10man heroic t11. I disagree. I wouldn't even invite a fire mage to my group due to their high gear-dependency. Shamans have hit rating from spirit, and mages need to reforge all their heroic dungeon gear and still wish they had enough. Mage is being replaced by 1 Warlock for t11 progression.
