As a Dutch person I've never celebrated 'day of the Dutch language' lol nor every other person I know has. And Indepence day is hardly a celebration a well.

Carnivals in Maastricht is one of the best street parties I ever had, world wide, 3 days and nights total celebration, all businesses, offices, colleges and university closed, last two for the whole week.

vergeet Drenthe en Groningen niet. Op de katholieke veenkolonien wordt ook uitbunding Carnaval gevierd. Kijk maar eens naar ter Apel en Barger Compacuum

Dutch Independence Day is on 26th of July. It’s not a national holiday. It commemorates the independence of the Netherlands from Spain in 1581. The Dutch Staten Generaal Made “placcate der verlahthinge” which was the first declaration of independence in the world.

1 to 6 are indeed the most well known. I also recognise 7, for example, there is a fruitcorso in Tiel. But 8 and 9? No idea, where they celebrate these days. Never heard about these...

@@XxXx-Evo no, number 2 is also very well known. Number 2 is celebrated in the entire country while number 6 only in the southern parts.

almost 50 and never ever heard of language day or independence day.
the only festivities i know of that are about the 80 years war are 1 april and 3 october.
1 april is about the start of the revolt against the spanish where in 1572 the city of Brielle was liberated by the geuzen.
3 october is about the liberation of Leiden in 1574.

You forgot to mention the annual fights/riots between the pro and anti Piet factions at Sinterklaas, another great Dutch tradition.
