No matter what Boruto does it will be compared to Naruto in one way or another. And honestly nothing will ever give us the same feeling Naruto did thus Boruto will never be what the people want. So we might as well enjoy/hate Boruto on its own merits/demerits rather than compare it to Naruto :)

If that's how u wanna view it that's fine
But me personally boruto gave me new feelings that I felt like in Naruto it wasn't as touched or wasn't in Naruto in the first place
For example brotherhood of the 2 protagonist of the show
Yes Naruto & sasuke had their dynamics and similarities which made them the characters who we all know.
but in all honestly besides from few scenes they was always like oil & water
and yes ik this most solely of the brother fight throughout the reincarnation cycle of Indra & ashura.
However, boruto & kawaki on the other hand i felt that brotherhood connect and drew closer to the both of them as the story went along
them actually living together and going through the same stuff with karma and both havin the same ending goals to push one another always felt way more natural
And now with their conflict in TBV it's just hit more at home much more then how it was with Naruto & sasuke

I just watched boruto for naruto . Boruto always give me that" pain arc" vibes where everything seems illusion. And truly know i watch boruto only for boruto .
Boruto sound like some cyberpunk city mix to very ancient city the feeling is entirely new to me i never feel something like this , boruto seems japenese folk tail in cosmic and neon world . Mystic , mythical and I very fan of things like this . Literally boruto feel like rain village. I can't express this thing .

I remember absolutely hating boruto back when it was newer a bit after the road to boruto expansion was released for storm 4, but I gave it another chance right before it hit hiatus and I began to absolutely adore it's themes and how it isn't just Naruto again. And with the new TBV releases he has changed enough to where he feels more adult. The manga is just so good by that point

Finally, a take that's somewhat neutral instead of going either being called a hater or saying Boruto fans can't take criticism...
I think the series could definitely be better or even written better, and I can see some of the narratives Boruto as a story tries to go for such as the use of technology and the things people do out of love compared to Naruto's hate, I just wish they were executed better and it doesn't help that Boruto picks up what's left of Shippuden's trash such as the broken power system and runs with it, creating even more problems.
But holy crap discussing this series is unnecessarily difficult. It's almost as bad as talking about an anime like Black Clover and Fairytail. Everyone just spouts opinion like it's fact, ignoring that they're acting more like an elitist and not a critic just because they love hearing themselves talk...

I'll be honest I hate boruto on the sheer principle that it ignores basic plot points tht kishi dropped, thts honestly my biggest gripe with it, the world wouldn't suddenly get fixed with naruto being hokage he would have to work and negotiate with the daimyos and other Shinobi factions tht don't agree with him, or outright surprises them.
Boruto as a series offers very little compared to narutos plethora of themes subplots and characters. Yet it wants to act like it's better than all of tht, I just can't get behind a series that thinks it's better than the original when it clearly isn't, though tht is my opinion.

    • @lapplandkun9273
      @lapplandkun9273 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I hate the series because exactly of the power system and otsutsukis, a clan nobody even wanted to explore yet alone create more antagonists, in at all. Naruto's list of antagonists and villains weren't just the uchiha. They were other people who lived lives and had their own story, motivations, desires, and dreams. For as much as I despise Danzo, he is an amazing character who reflects the dark era of the past. He is someone no matter how much you resented, did what he believed in and died for it.
That's why Boruto to me isn't good. It became a series about a boy who wanted to become hokage, who realized that the entire world revolved around shinobi, war, conflicts, ideology clashes, revenge and honor, became nothing more than a DBZ wankfest for its blind fanbase who will lap anything up because it's attached to Naruto.

I’ve stated this multiple times. They should have done a series based further in the future long after Naruto and others died. I’m talking their on their 12th Hokage type future in a completely different world due to how Naruto and other predecessors molded and changed things for the future generation. Mention Naruto through legendary feet’s we don’t see like they did with the 1st Hokage. They could also have just made a completely fresh new cast of characters but left the foundation of the ninja world intact THAT’S where they messed up.

2016 to 2021 I hated anything that had to do with Boruto, I was thee biggest hater and that was mostly because of how much I loved Naruto.
Later during 2021, I don't know why, I just started reading the manga in order to make fun of it. Then as I was reading, I accidentally got hooked. Reading it felt like I was reading something entirely different, I realized I stopped comparing it to naruto, and yes it doesn't have the best art or character development, but I will say. I feel the problem is that all these “fair criticisms” are consistently thrown in the fans faces. They cannot just enjoy the manga without a ton of people coming in with “fair criticism” that don’t even have anything to do with the chapter at hand. Every series has fair criticisms they can be discussed but you don’t see a huge part of the anime community coming to new chapter releases to consistently point them out. I think people just need to relax and get of the series back honestly.

  • @babadoudidadouda
    @babadoudidadouda 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

As someone who only watched a few episodes of the anime (that were kinda "okay", IMO, but didn't really leave me craving for more) and who is always stumbling upon YT shorts talking about some crazy power (up) one of Boruto's characters has, I'd love to know more about the characters main goals and what they do to achieve those goals, about their relationships to one another; about the internal and external obstacles they have to overcome, about what fuels their growth (or their downfall). Anything about what makes them compelling characters outside of their powers or their fighting abilities. Or even anything about the deeper themes of the story.
For instance in Naruto, his main goal in the first half was to be accepted, to be seen as more than the fox demon Jinchuuriki because he grew up ostracised, and for that, he thought he needed to become the Hokage. Then, in the second half, while he still wanted to be Hokage, he also wanted to bring peace to the world, to save the world from hatred (and from the hurt he was deeply familiar with due to his past), and for that, he needed to start by saving Sasuke, his friend, from his own hatred. The overarching themes of the manga and the anime, to me, were mainly (I might have forgotten one or two) about the importance of human connections, the curse of hatred and violence, and how to put an end to the cycle of vengeance, it also was about healing from trauma and learning to love oneself. And, yes, it was a bit about hard work and perseverance too.
I'm not saying there's not all that (character and story depth) too in Boruto, just that I haven't read or heard anything about it and that, as someone who'd like to be more motivated to read and/or to watch Boruto in full one day, I'd love to hear from fans of the show about what makes you care about the characters and the story.

Shame, because the story has so many moments that are a love letter to the OG series. One example I love using is the Ao arc; you take this side character and give him a compelling story of a broken vet still trying to find his place in the world, and here comes our new MC trying to validate the shinobi way he threw away with the experience he's gained since tarnishing his reputation, all while learning a lesson about how tools aren't good/bad it's how you use them, and then proving to Ao that throwing away your pride as a ninja won't bring you happiness, only for the clone of his fathers masters to crush Ao (and in a last harah, saving Boruto with ninjutsu) proving he was a shinobi in the end. We then learn that Koji's modus operandi is that a shinobi is _also_ a tool _(neither good or bad)_ which is how he was able to throw Ao away so callously, only to learn this was all for the greater good of stopping Jigen & Kara.
All of this done with a side character from the OG series who's entire identity was "being the Mizukages aid and having a byakugan".

Thing is people are not forced to like it. Some people have this mindset that the default position with something is that you have to like it. And saying that the story is bad doesn't make that reader an "ignorant who can't understand the beautiful, nuanced storytelling" and doesn't make the fan someone who is smart and can see all themes, narratives, and so on.
If you like things that are controversial and divisive (like Boruto), you're going to run with critics. Hell, Naruto is a lot more beloved and successful and that series has a lot of critics.

I wish i could like boruto but everytime i read chapter 1 and see that naruto becomes a neglectful father i just feel like they didnt care as much as i do about the series, it feels like they couldnt get boruto to dislike his father for anything reasonable so they created a situation that just would never happen in my mind atleast. Naruto would never be a neglectful father to me idk, just that small character detail leaves a really sour taste in my mouth but its because i hold the series to a high standard and i feel like they failed at one of narutos strongest aspects. Naruto knows just how painful it could be to be alone or to feel like theres no one there for you so to see him pass on that pain he knows too well to his son and daughter im just left with a question of why couldnt you come up with a better reason than this?

You say that but at the same time you don’t bother to consider Naruto’s characterization at the end of 700. Naruto historically has been able to build familial relationships with people who aren’t related to him. In ch 700, Naruto stated that the entire village his family and that he can’t be “Dad” just for Boruto at certain times. It’s an ideology that allowed him to save Sarada Uchiha but as a result he unintentionally neglects Boruto. Its flawed.
Ofc Naruto knows how dreadful it is to be alone but unlike Naruto, BORUTO ACTUALLY HAS A FAMILY WAITING FOR HIM AT HOME. Therefore Boruto is never truly alone. It’s not the same. What Boruto feels isn’t loneliness, what he feels is a lack of validation because daddy doesn’t pay enough attention to him. He’s popular in school and has friends he hangs out with everyday. That’s something Naruto can’t relate to because he didn’t grow up with a father who used to always be around him only to gradually spend less time with him. He had no one. Add this in with a lack of communication between Boruto and Naruto where Boruto hides how he truly feels, you get the father and son dynamic that you don’t like.

I dont have a problem with Boruto plot itself, it actually interesting, what i have a problem with is the existence of Boruto series itself. I have follow Naruto for dozens of years, half of my life in this world (i'm 23), and for Boruto series to just come along and basically said " Yeah, my father was just another Minato, he's just a prequel to my series, and he's not actually the chosen one promised to bring about peace to this world. " is unacceptable.
If MK use his other series concept for Boruto instead, Samurai in the cyber punk future, i'll have no problem with the series. At that point Boruto would not tarnish Naruto legacy just to develop the new gen, and when the nostalgia bait show up it will hit much more harder.
That's why imma try my hardest to limit my self only to clips and whatnot, anything but ani/manga, until they decide to make an equivalent of DBS but for Naruto and declare Boruto to be the equivalent of DBGT. I'll hate myself is if i fall in love with Boruto series rn.

I love boruto the story is pretty simple to understand but people still misunderstand, boruto next generations is about a son that wants his father to spend time with him and only sees him as his dad and not this God of shinobi that everybody else thinks naruto is which he is but we know that because we watched him for 500 episodes if u take out the fillers, the story takes place in a time of peace and this peace was narutos goal which he has achieved for 13 plus years now that their is a time of peace shinobi is somewhat obsolete and people now can express their selves and hidden talents in other ways rather than being a ninja we see that technology has made a huge leap seeing as their is peace, also the village has expanded and grown.Boruto next generations is all about diving into the father son relationship and them eventually coming to understand and respect each other more than just naruto being borutos father and vise versa so because their is a Time of peace most episodes are not as intense as og naruto where their was always war or the whole world was always on edge to start a war because of this narrative people hate on the show and say it's boring and it's all filler when in actuality people want the same feeling as og naruto with all the stakes and alot more villians early on which is fine but makes no sense since this is a time of peace so naturally everything is peaceful and the tensions are low, also people hate borutos character and misunderstand him because of him talking down on his father for not being around which any child would do your child will always see u as his/her father and not the hokage or whatever position u hold in politics or work overall after the momoshiki otsosuki arc boruto sees naruto as his father still but respects the position he holds and sees what he represents from the village citizens perspective and us og fans also boruto knows how hard his father worked to get to that position and wants his father to tell him story's of his past, people also hate on the anime cannon because it doesn't have alot of action or high tension episodes but it reality it serves as a way to flush out character personality and changes to their personalities and growth in general it also gives context to the major arcs and how they got to that point like for example the Kara arcs that ate anime cannon give context to the organization like them having hidden bases and doing experiments also having followers and worshipers etc now the anime isn't perfect but it's not as bad as people make it out to be they just misunderstand most things and can't get over the nostalgic feeling of og naruto and shippuden and expect the same thing when in reality it never could be and shouldn't be also alot of people claim suaske and naruto are nerfed when in actuality its just that the enemies are otsosuki aliens that are more powerful than kaguya otsosuki ever since kishimoto used kaguya as the progenitor of all of shinobi and chakra boruto had to continue the lore and story so as a result the powerscaling had to go way up because kaguya otsosuki feared momoshiki and the others and she was overwhelmingly powerful

5:49 idk why people are shocked Naruto would put the village ahead of his kids. Did we not read/watch Naruto? Naruto is the same series where the first hokage said he’d kill his own child if they stood against the village, the second hokage sacrificed himself so his team could escape in a war, the third hokage was prepared to join danzo in an ambush against the uchiha clan ( and they planned on leaving survivors if itachi hadn’t stepped up, that means killing innocent men, women and children including the babies ), the fourth hokage Naruto’s father could’ve easily lived and helped raise his son but chose to die so that he could seal the 9 tails putting konohas military forces ahead of his own needs, kakashi took a mission as hokage that violated the peace treaty and could’ve started a 5th ninja war.
I say all of this to say that Naruto idolized the Hokage position and what it stands for, even if he may not always agree with the decisions the previous hokage make he damn sure respects them and try’s to follow their footsteps so are you really shocked that Naruto would put the village and it’s needs ahead of his own family?

So I want to be clear on my bias before I continue. I do not think I'd like Boruto even on it's own. It is...REALLY ugly in my eyes, literally I physically don't like looking at the manga at times, I don't really like Boruto as a character, and a lot of the themes just don't click with me.
That being said, it'd just be something I shrug at and move from if it was on it's own. Art isn't everything in a story no matter how bad I think it is, and me personally not liking something isn't a sign of quality. I also never liked Attack On Titan, it's just not for me, and that's fine.
That being said, yeah this is called "Next Generation", it is built on being connected to Naruto, and that is how I judge it. Stuff like Naruto's fathering doesn't feel earned, the lore is pretty bad now and outright contradicts things that Naruto was consistent on, not to mention stuff like fights feeling worse because of that inconsistency, and a lot of the things I liked in Naruto feel dropped rather than resolved at times.
But those are just my takes of course.

Im a huge boruto hater. Hated chapter 700 and virtually everything thats happened since. BUT...
When I think about a scenario that naruto could be defeated, how it happened is consistent with Naruto's character.
Being caught off guard by his over trusting nature, and not having kurama to sense kawakis negative emotions.. it makes more sense to me than him being beaten by someone like isshiki.
That's all the praise ive got.
The power scaling is so so,bad. Momoshiki says the chakra fruit kaguya ate was unusually strong, he says it has a curvature of 16 and anything over 10 must be reported to the clan.
And... That makes me question wtf jigen/isshiki was even doing. We know kaguya betrayed him and took the fruit for herself... But if the mini ten tails isshiki was nursing was anywhere close to kaguyas, he would have been obligated to report it.
So did he go rogue as well? Remember momo never even mentioned him

So basically Boruto is like Sukuna right now. Even if something is done right and has a good explanation, people will find loopholes to criticize it. Like for example, Sukuna using hollow wicker basket. It was meaned and hated while people with common sense knew that sukunw always had it

If anything I'm too entrenched in my boruto dislike to read it. I watched the Boruto movie long before I had consistent access to the internet. I treated Boruto post movie the same as I treated seven deadly sins post season 2, with apathy and listen to what happens in the show. I still don't believe two blue vortex is going to be good, but I will shut my mouth and wait for how it play out(Because its a semi clean slate). The thing I'm looking for is consistent quality, not consistently amazing of course, decent to good.

The biggest crime that Boruto commits is treating the Naruto series characters like garbage and using them as punching bags for the newer cast. Naruto and Sasuke are relegated as jokes and the remaining original casts are practically rendered irrelevant.
It was a bait and switch to get Naruto fan to follow the series only for them to be disrespected.
So Boruto as a series will continue to be hated and will end up having the same legacy as Dragonball GT.

Sarada and her Ms awakening is a big example, if we truely want to say she awakens her Ms from love, it should be history built between Boruto and Sarada like with Sakura and Naruto (also still a fumble). Sarada does not earn her Ms power up like Sasuke did with his.
It literally has no correlations or relevence towards the time skip or reason to even awaken. What is the purpose of the Ms now, after the time skip it still has no relevence.

Hears my opinion on the matter, I have never watched Boruto and never will so I cant hate on it, but I think Boruto should not even exist, shoulda just left at the Naruto ending and called it a day, no need to keep milking Naruto's name. For instance, one of my favorite series is One Piece and if they end up making like a Two Piece, I WOULD BE PISSED, just leave the story LET IT END.

Its not only what you said...
I find that there's a failure to follow up with hints on the original manga.
There was no hinting of the trayectory that is currently fueling Boruto's narrative other that Kaguya's reveal at the last posible moment.
While we have so much better set up stuff that could be explored. And Minato's one shot proves it.
We have the Waring Era, the first, second and third shinobi war, so many fantastic villages that could be used to create more narratives.
We have the other Jinchuriki, we have the Akatsuki members, The other Kages, hell, we still dont have a clue about the Uzumaki Clan, the main character's clan...
And people HUNGER for stories on the Naruto world, Naruto is the anime with the most fanfictions ever.
I love the shinobi world, and the focuse of some random aliens that where pushed in at the end frustrates the fuck out of me, especially when they destroy the universe's powerscaling with Ototsuki mumbo jumbo...
No joke, my favorite arc of Boruto is the Onoki filler arc, with the Madara paralleles, and the struggle of the older generation that was raised in war accepting and trusting the younger generation to keep the peace.
I'm just waiting for more light novels and maybe spinoffs at this point, Boruto has nothing for me...

I am pretty ignorant to the show, I have only watched a few episodes and clips, I just figured I was growing out of shonen manga I couldn't get into JJK, BNHA, or KnY either. As I was watching boruto I didn't find myself caring about the story of Boruto or Kawaki becoming the strongest, I wanted to see more Mirai or Sakura navigating post war life.
I just know as a shonen they operate by constantly upping the ante, and Shippuden already ended so far removed from where Naruto originally started, I didn't want to keep going in this direction, I wanna tone down the power, which is exactly what Naruto was, toned down power and stakes in comparison to the shonen anime that preceded it

Ive been saying this and standin on it that going forward was a mistake there is so much untouched on lore and room for expanding on hyped up characrets thru out the history naruto getting more one shot type stories or a prequel anthology series going over and expanding the historical events of naruto its a win win they get to keep the story intact and something that everybody would generally be more hyped for more and making money going over characters like akastuki members, hokages, kakashi father, etc would still imo be way more interesting and accepted by the fanbase as well and would still if not even more

My hate for the Boruto series comes from the love I have for the Naruto series, my 2 biggest issues with Boruto is that:
    1. They took the worst thing that happened in shippuden and ruined the ending and decided to make it the main plot in Boruto (the aliens) Till this day there’s haven’t been a single Boruto villain that is at least close to the level of Naruto main villains.
    2. The way the legacy characters were handled especially Naruto and Sasuke it’s straight up disrespectful (I get that they needed to get nerf but at least do it well and not in a lazy writing way)

if we talking about the manga readers it wasn't hit as hard as the anime and it made the manga readers have no way to defend it and the anime has like 3 to 5 banger and 170 filler and like barely some 25 or something form the main story and the story itself still has to rely on naru/sasu for big fight o important missions and if they did spliced them from the world after momoshiki and reunion in isshiki it would make more sense and have naruto either die or just can't go back to village to not only create suspense and danger abd to force the new gen to adapt to the new vacuum of power
