    As a Canadian it was nice to get a Canadian perspective on this. Thanks. I am picking up a crew cab Z71 version tomorrow.

    I have a 2022 Chevrolet Colorado v6 and I drive mostly city and I get 18.5 litres per 100 km in miles is 12.5 mpg and I drive conservative if I push it gets way worse mileage.

    I do a lot of driving, I climb about 5,000 miles in elevation every day and come back down, my driving is almost all highway/freeway. With the v6 I average 24.5mpg, during my swing shift(making the climb from 2-3pm, and coming down the hill from 12-1am, I drop to about 23mpg for the day shift and get back up to about 24mpg on grave yard shift. I do not speed or drive hard(often) so it is possible to get very good fuel economy, even with the v6, but city driving will certainly kill your mileage, I’d advise the 4 cylinder if you plan to be doing mostly city driving, it will save you big time in fuel economy. These tests are all spring and summer months, winter will likely be much harder on fuel economy.

      I put a plastic cap over the filler neck, it fits loose but keeps the dirt and water out.

      really isn't an issue, unless you suspect someone putting something in your gas tank

    video actually made a lot of sense.. and it was canadian lol . I'm in the market for a truck.. I'm a carpenter commuting to downtown Toronto from about 40 mins north .. (highway driving in the morning but stop and go coming home ) .. seems to get the same fuel consumption as a full size suv (pilot, Murano ,Highlander) .. hoping i can find one in my price range lol

      Sounds like you commute from the Markham/Richmond Hill area. I would definitely recommend checking out the Diesel variant as well, Mike :)

      I have the diesel and it's amazing. It gets over 1000kms to a tank

    Yes very informative! That also informs me your gas is expensive! I have a similar Colorado, but mines an ext cab Z71, 4x4,V6. I averaged 17 mpg in 70% city. On a road trip though I can a see an average of as high as 26 mpg all on hyw, I also tow a travel trailer and on my last 3000 mile trip at 9,780 lbs. GCVW we got 13 mpg! That's towing a 4,000 trailer, with a 560 lbs Sportster Motorcycel in the bed and all the water tank filled (40) gallons and all the stuff for the wife and I for three weeks of travel from Massachusetts to Key West, down the east coast of Fla and up the west coast, then inland to the Smokey Mountains of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, then home through Hershey PA! With all the mountains on the way home, 13 mpg is nit that bad. The Silverado I had just before the Colorado, a Z71,4x4AWD 5.3 V8 3:42. Gears, loaded exactly like this over just about the same route was only able to get 9 mpg! Sure it had a little more power, but not really enough to make a difference, cause we were more than able to keep to the speed limits at all times without running at or close to the 5,000 rpm range! All in all the Colorado is a fine truck for work or play cause it's also great on the beaches and mountain trails!

      Thanks for the information Kevin. The information regarding towing fuel economy is very useful to our audience!

      Fuel Economy your welcome! As a side note my cousin has a 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport 4x4, V6 quad cab. His trailer weighs as much as mine but is a toy hauler cause his bike very similar same brand won't fit in his bed. The two of us and the wives and all the stuff on a similar trip together, with the both of us rolling over the same Cat Scale were within just over a hundred pounds with my weight being the most. But on the same roads at the same time my truck had noticeably more power and get better mileage. Like 13 mpg Colorado and 11 mpg Tacoma!!

      Have 2017 Colorado with 6000 miles on it to date (Z71 4wd). I am an old man that has owned a number of vehicles in his life and none of them can beat this truck! (And I am picky about what I buy). Colorado drives like a dream, comfortable, powerful and versatile. Gas mileage so far, (sorry, in mpg): 23.6 highway and 22.3 city. Overall still coming out to over 22 mpg. I do not baby it, it is way to much fun to drive so I do not think about fuel consumption. Inside it is luxury car, outside it is a truck.

    This a was great because I am looking at 2018 Colorado z71 V6 4x4. The test truck spec match up well now I know how much km I will get driving out east in the summer time and when I go up north in winter.

    Not bad MPG for 80% city driving. His equivalent MPG is 17.
    I have a 2018 Canyon that I drive ~80% highway and I get 22MPG.

      Kev T Forsure. But wouldn’t I be wasting my money if I put it in my bmw? Or does it effect those engines quite differently due to them being luxury?

    • @kevt9442
      @kevt9442 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It all depends what it's designed to run on. Premium fuel has a higher resistance to detonation. So is required in some higher performance engines. It doesn't have any more energy than regular though so you won't get any mileage improvement in a truck like this.
