    Sirtis didn't think she needed a stunt double. She broke her tailbone.

      This comment is highly underrated and 100% accurate. The actress herself dedicated so much to the role (I dislike Troi personally 🤣) that in the scene where she is 'blown backwards' along with the rest of the away team, in that shot she indeed shattered her tail bone. Although Troi could have been a more effective character if she had been written with even the slightest degree of intelligence/awareness, Sirtis can't be faulted for her dedication to the role, in my book.

    Watching Troi kick some ass makes this one of the funniest + best episodes ever -- finally, she did something other than having vague feelings and saying annoying psychodynamic drivel. Also, I want a spin-off series following the adventures on the Enterprise of white-trousers-in-the-corridor guy.

    Riker is the f**king GOAT in this. First of all, he gets out the shuttle and does his best Chuck Norris impression, saying "Pretty sure that's broken" and then in sickbay, he says, "Not the first broken bone I've had."
    Marina Sirtis is great in this. She was often given a very poor script, and bad storylines, but whenever she was given a script (like "Face of the Enemy") that she could get her teeth into, she was great.
    Good episode. B.

    You ranked it lower because you felt prisoners wouldn't work together we'll? But they didn't. Possessed Troi would have talked Picard into going to the South Pole and they would have taken over the ship but Possessed Data didn't listen and got impatient and blew their whole plan.

    "then again he's not a main character"
    I noticed that he was in a LOT of season 5 and I think every episode of season 6 prior to Chain of Command. It's "almost" as if they were making a new series where he was a main character and wanted to remind people that he's on the Enterprise as part of his backstory.

    Failing is really more dangerous than people realize. Had an uncle fall off a 2 foot ladder and die. A friend's dad stood up, got light headed and fell into the low table next to the couch. Died after six weeks unconscious.
    Being hit in the head is another thing folks under estimate.

    • @headphonic8
      @headphonic8 ปีที่แล้ว

      how old was your uncle and friend's dad? usually old people get fucked up by falls way more easily

    • @macmcleod1188
      @macmcleod1188 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @headphonic8 uncle was in his 50s. The friend's dad was 76. But he was in good shape and no health problems. Would have expected him to live another five years at least.
      I plan on wearing a bike helmet at home when I get older. And I'm definitely going to have railings in the hallways. However, I read recently one reason people fall is osteoporosis. In that case their hip bone breaks under the weight of their own body. So they are already in bad physical shape when the hip bone breaks.

  • @KelsonArwhi
    @KelsonArwhi ปีที่แล้ว

    Possible the being that took over Data simply lacked the mental capacity to take full advantage of his abilities, or was ignorant of them. Perhaps Data was able to somehow limit what they were able to do with him. Wait, now I'm giving the writers too much credit.
    If and when you guys get to DS9, I fully expect you to reflect back on this episode when covering the DS9 episode where Keiko gets possessed by a Pah-wraith that threatens to kill Keiko if Miles doesn't do everything it wants.

  • @ThePeacemaker848

    I would have wrote it that the planet converted the crew to energy beings which is essentially ghost-like but the planet is a miserable existence or painful or something. And they needed the ship to get away/die. But they feared the federations prime directive would not allow Picard to help them since it involves essentially Euthanizing them.
    And then Picard has to make a tough call in the cargo bay where he yet again violates the prime directive!

    When humans get possessed in Star Trek they get a strength buff, but when Data gets possessed his strength is nerfed because it would be OP to let the android run around one-shotting everybody.

    Another good review...yet A-? Wow, I didn't quite like this one as much. The possession was a good diversion from character giving the actors a chance to show some range, but they all seemed to be one salty planet bound gaggle, which didn't lend much to the episode. But I guess I get why they did it.?. C- for me.
    I'm noticing a trend with Nick and possessed female characters in the reviews. Might be something for Nick and his therapist to devote some time to. Or if he's married; a quick trip to the costume store and some role playing. Lol! Just kidding! Good review!
