Oh dear. SG-JB crossing can be very confusing for non-Singaporeans and non -Johoreans. Because we cross the causeway all the time and thus we take things for granted esp regarding the signages. But this video is a great feedback. I do agree clearer and perhaps bigger signages are needed for train and buses especially for first time travellers crossing the border.
Yes I only go JB once in a blue moon. My last trip was in 2019. In JB itself it was nice but crossing the borders is stressful and especially hot for the woodlands JB crossing.
I feel you - it's the most annoying border crossing I've to make each time I'm travelling to Singapore from Malaysia. This building is very very large and also very badly designed.
Ahhh! Welcome to Singapore! It's really frustrating at the custom when there's not enough indication/signboard of where to go. You guys did a great job. Also, I'm so looking forward to your next vlog, and please rest well before exploring!
Loving these!! Just got home from our first SE Asia trip with our 4 kids/teenagers (I’ve been before ) and we’re planning Singapore and Johor Bahru on a budget next year.
No there isn’t ☺️ and even so, there should be another as you leave and follow the woodlands signs. Very easy to do to add (bus) to just 1 sign. Even at customs.
@josievlogsthings oh..ok, maybe I'm not really know now what happen to JB CENTRAL building (the smaller building opposite the bigger building) because I work as a supervisor for the main contractor to build this building and as I remember there is a clear signage "KTM train ticket and train platforms" at this building...but it's been almost 17 years ago since I left this project. Maybe some idiot removed the signage...by the way good that you guys reached Singapore. Stay healthy and enjoy your travels.
From the Malaysian immigration, it is easier to get to Singapore by bus. If you have no tickets, just board any bus that comes along and pay on board in Malaysian or Singapore money. Don't lose your tickets - you need to show to board the same bus company after clearing Singapore immigrations to continue to the city centre. Same when crossing from Singapore to Johore. Don't fret about it. It's even confusing for Singaporeans/Malaysians crossing this border for the first time 😂
Hello. I am non Malaysian and non Singaporean and planning to cross this border from Johor to Singapore for the first time. I was going to book a train ticket because they say it's faster. Would bus be a better option tho? Thank you!
@SuccessforLifester I think I will also just be using the bus. Coz if the train should be booked earlier, I might not be able to be on time if i need to go thru immigration like them.
You know what ? When I landed at Kuala Lumpur Airport, I can't even find the immigration. There is SOME signboard with a very SMALL sign of IMIGRESEN. When I followed the signs to somewhere, the sign disappeared !This country is awesome
I remember once I wander into a zone I am not supposed to go in JB side. The officer directed me to wait in a room but later released me. Now as I think back I think they might want to ask me for donations for the trespassing
We got you covered on this travel day. Yesterday we travelled from Prague to Salzburg bh train. Had to change to bus half way because ofvtrack damage. Steep stairs off the Czech rail carriage onto ice covered narrow concrete platform. Slipped while descending with a suitcase and my leg went between carriage and platform, and I've hurt the MCL. Raining and station in middle of nowhere closed with no shelter. No buses waiting and had to wait an hour in the rain for a bus. Got to next station and unbeknownst to us, we hoped on the wrong brand train and had to pay more money for the remainder of the trip to Salzburg. Don't you just love travel days.
I am an Aussie who married a Malaysian and now resides part-time in Malaysia and regularly goes to both places. I get there by plane, which isn't a problem for me and is, by far, the easiest way into Singapore but not through JB. Unfortunately, this is the primary problem with getting to and from Singapore via the Causeway, regardless of transportation, which is usually packed. JB Sentral is generally used by commuters so tourists aren't catered for. Unlike its border with Thailand, there are 2 customs checkpoints between Malaysia and Singapore regardless of which way you are travelling. Also, the entryway to the train platforms is on the far left side of the building as you face JB Sentral and it is there you will see 2 signs saying gates A (to Singapore) and B (From Singapore). To be honest with you, I think it's a bit of fun to go your way and it's part of the unique nature of travelling. While I understand that the weather there might not suit you and that you did do a lot of homework on the trip, this is Malaysia after all. The return trip is more well-signed as it is, after all, Singapore. I understand your frustration but Malaysia isn't Australia after all and they can't all cater to your whims. In any case, as I am posting this, you are back in Australia for the Christmas/New Year break and I hope you are enjoying it with your family. Waiting to see the rest of your adventure soon.
I didn't get the detention story in the end. The man was sharing about how he was asked to throw his gums away when he was younger. Am I correct? But during this trip he was also detained? But I wasn't sure what was the reason of the detention
Not younger, just earlier in this video. He was saying he’s been to Singapore a lot, and that his parents had their honeymoon there and told him about Singapore banning gum when he was a young child so he’s always known, just forgot
@@josievlogsthings Oh so he was asked to go to a room to dispose of his gum? He was found having them or he declared it himself? Was it just a small pack?
It’s never the same after you bust the plugger. Had a similar issues in MY as well, 0 signage and ended up on the other end of a checkpoint that you can’t go backwards.

Greetings from a citizen of Johor Bahru, Malaysia. I apologize for the complicated and congestion at the CIQ Complex and the confusing signboards. I will notify the JB city council to improve these issues in the near future. However, here's an interesting fact: this massive building serves as a multipurpose transportation hub, shopping complex, and immigration office. It includes lanes for lorries and buses, as well as a KTM train station. Furthermore, it is set to connect with the Singapore MRT lane by 2026, making the situation even more complex.
Assumptions can be very deceiving and costly. When you do a border crossing make sure you ask for directions if you are not sure. Wandering and exploring may not be productive and cost you some time. It is better to ask, to move confidently.
@@josievlogsthings Yeah, things in Malaysia "sort of work". Nothing is 100% there will be some gaps here and there. As you described, "not very organised". You need to be extra cautious and alert. Double and triple check. Do not be afraid to ask, people are nice and will a least speak some English. Just consider yourself lucky that some petty officer did not take you aside, accuse you of some infringement of procedures in order to extort a bribe out of you. This happens ALOT in JB. It is far away from the capital KL, and there is more a wild west attitude there. If you are able to take these things in your stride and not get too stressed out, Malaysia is a lovely country. Another hint, ALWAYS have some cash with you, no matter what country you go to. Consider it a kind of insurance. You have to expect that things will go wrong and the most reliable way to pay for things is still cash.
Traveling by bus across the causeway can be challenging and the queue at times, extremely long due to the sheer number of people crossing by land on buses, for work mainly. You’re lucky that there’s hardly any queue during the time you went across, so definitely faster to get across by bus than by train (tickets need to be purchased online in advance and are usually sold out weeks in advance!). I guess for those of us who’re so used to taking this journey across, never really realise it can be confusing through the lense of tourists. In countries where signage aren’t in English or unclear, good to get advance guidance before departure date/time so that not caught at last minute. I did that last month to Korea, trying to look for subway exits with lifts or escalators was challenging enough especially traveling with large luggage. Anyways, glad you managed to get across unscathed and on time to catch your flight home
14:58 that white and red bus behind accepts credit card btw. It’s run by the Singapore public bus service. Boarding it again at the Singapore side will send you to the MRT station
You can bring chewing gums to Singapore and consume in Singapore, but not for sale in Singapore. I had colleagues who came back from US with a bunch of chewing gums for distribution as gifts. No problem.
You should have ask people about it. People who travel to Singapore would able to explain to you more. There is bus directly to airport from JB to Changi as well. You are lucky that is a not a busy timing when u cross the border.
Argh border crossing is always tricky… and the singapore-malaysia land border crossing is the trickiest (thailand and indonesia borneo much easier). I had once ended up leaving my car in jb and taking a taxi across to singapore, due to changing requirements that we did not expect.
Next few years there will be another type of train called Rapid Train Service (RTS) So u need to know what mode of transport youre on, so you get to the correct station..to avoid unneccesary stress Fyi after u cleared SG immigration, you can get on the yellow bus again (refer to the trip no: CW1 / CW2 etc ) to go direct to the MRT station using the same ticket..theres no need to pay again for taxi or bus For example: CW1 goes to Kranji MRT station CW2 goes to Queens St Bus Station (near Bugis MRT station)
Oh where you bought your drink, that's where the train boards!!! So sorry that you missed it.. Edit: JB Sentral is literally the name of the train station. I think I know why you could have missed it: There's an open atrium area for train passengers to queue. And there are usually property agents sell apartments in that space (cos, you know, captive audience 😂). So I think you did notice any passengers queuing beyond those property sales booths! Anyway, now you know! 😅
Damn that must've been so frustrating. I would've been pissed af. Sorry you guys had to go through all that, literally just ONE signage would've saved y'all from all this.
Dekat pintu masuk JB Sentral ada kaunter tiket keretapi besar kat main entrance. Tapi maybe diaorang tak nampak sebab asyik sibuk cari Roti Boy agaknya? Idk. Diaorang sepatutnya buat research sebelum keluar/masuk negara orang. Boleh main lenjan. Tapi jangan complain la kan
@ zul5799 You don’t need to be personally offended and snippy by facts and my real experience. We have traveled the world and crossed many borders, it was the least well explained crossing we have seen so far. There were multiple people in the same boat as us looking for the train that ended up in the bus part. A simple sign would do the trick, luckily it’s an easy fix….if Malaysia wants to fix it. Criticism of Malaysia is ok. You don’t have to get upset about it. I’m very fair and balanced in my criticism and it comes from a place of experience.
@hakimhamdan9089 totally - just one sign before clearing that customs and we would have been fine. No big deal though, we actually got in earlier as a result!
@@dzul101 kalau nak komen, bagi komen yang membina sikit. ni tiba-tiba nak kaitkan dengan dorang cari Roti boy pula. kalau awak tengok video dia dengan betul, the guy tu dah jelaskan yang dia dah buat research. plus, kita patut dengar keluhan orang luar sebab kadang-kadang kita tak nampak kekurangan negara sendiri sampailah orang luar tegur. it's for our own good anyway
That complex is huge and you will get lost for sure because you don’t know the border crossing as those who crosses everyday. It’s big and huge because it was built to accommodate thousands that cross daily.
Watching this reminds me of watching episodes of The Amazing Race where travellers take the wrong directions and seeing couples under a lot of stress. 02:32 The train station was behind you !
The signage when you take the train from Singapore to Johor is very straight forward, there's a signage at the entrance to direct passengers to the queue for the train, which is on the left. For passengers crossing the border by bus, keep right. Simple. It's a stark difference in Malaysia but I guess the people running it are not interested to listen to feedback because it's been like that for many years. The lack of clear communication is very real and frustrating for non-frequent travellers. Even if they had a signage showing "JB Sentral" how would first time users know they are referring to the train station? Perhaps adding a train symbol beside "JB Sentral" would also be helpful. This is a common practice in most internation airports which is really helpful. The first time I took the train from JB to SG, I had to ask strangers for directions as well. And by the way, there is a special immigration counter area for the train users so all train passengers can quickly clear immigration. However, it is also important to take note that gates open 30 minutes before departure time and closes 10 minutes(iirc, correct me if I'm wrong) before departure. I was once caught in bad traffic and arrived 1 minute late and they denied me entry, ever since then we learned our lesson and try to arrive at least 45 minutes before departure time. We ended up taking the bus to Johor and took us 3 hours to clear immigration🤯
oh dear,... perhaps you could have search online for info where the KTM train station is located. it is located at a different building and has its own custom clearing. When I watch your video and seeing you guys walking in to the custom building and mentioned taking a train for 5min ride... my thought was.... ??? wrong direction. Anyway. I believe your bus ride is rather smooth as I don't see any traffic jam crossing over to Singapore. The train ride is convenient for clearing Malaysia custom. Otherwise, a bus ride would be my choice at anytime... trouble is ...clearing MY custom is often the hussle with long unwanted queue Enjoy your stay in SG.
The problems can also be solved by adequate signage, of which there isn’t some. It’s ok to criticise Malaysia sometimes, I praise it much more often ☺️
@markerQK totally, it ended up being fine and we got across in 5 mins on the bus earlier than we would have on the train. We were only stressed about the bus because we were told you couldn’t take bags our size on it, but it was no issue ☺️
@@josievlogsthings I see, ya, carrying that kind of luggage is ...... I had experience that before, of course, being a Singaporean, it helps that at least I am back to my country come whatever the issue... enjoy your stay

I dislike going to JB (Johore Bahru), especially long chaotic immigration clearance queue. The worse part is no clear signage of taking a bus to Singapore after the Johore immigration clearance point. The buses from JB are rather confusing and there is no proper queuing system.
I mean yes I had 1 extra bag than usual to hold my stuffed toy but not really - all the stress was from not seeing any signage so crossing immigration and not being allowed back and with really no help as to what to do lol haha.
Signages in Malaysia are confusing period LOL. For someone who visits Msia often, it is still confusing. Even Malaysians will complain about it lol. Everyone just get used to it. You could have taken the Singapore SBS buses and use your credit card with paywave function. If I remember correctly, there is free wifi in the Woodlands Immigration.
9:16. The Singaporean guy gave you the wrong direction and set off the chain of events. It clearly says Do not enter on the big sign board. You have already did your immigration out of malaysia at that point. You either had to re enter malaysia again thru immigration or just suck it up and take the bus and proceed to singapore immigration.
Challenging travel days, don’t you love them 🤪 are you heading home for Christmas? They are predicting rain over Christmas however it is bouncing between hot and rainy day at the moment
After the Singapore imigration you should have hop back on the bus using the same ticket and travel to Queen Street Singapore then taxi from there to Changi Airport.
yeah tbh it might be because i'm singaporean but once you get into singapore the public transportation is easier to use and not as messy as malaysia side.
After watching the whole video, I am still confused. I will be crossing from Malaysia to Singapore and taking the bus as an American passport holder. Wish me luck.
The train service was like dinosaur to Malaysian, the problem is there is non connectivity between those services, Very bad planning and confusing. Malaysian need to use more brain in Town Planning.
Train is below at the building where u buy ur bread, not the immigration building The immigration building u r in has already cleared u of the immigration and literally u r out of Malaysia, hence why there are requesting u to get and entry again and they cant let u in again via the same route. There are skytrains in all changi terminals unless u r in T4, else u would be able to cross frm one terminal to the other by the skytrain.
Yeah we understand what happened, we don’t understand why there isn’t signs before immigration to indicate a bus station, and that the trains are elsewhere. It’s a pretty big flaw. 😊😊
@@josievlogsthings understood. When i was told by my first time that the train checkpoint is at another building i was like "where? I didnt see anything". They were like "the middle building after the immigration one". I was " where the hell exactly was that?"
You can almost see a trend in attitude of front desk workers in FnB or hotels. They look like they don't want to work or see you. Completes tasks so slowly.
When travelling abroad, our bestfriend is the signages. I laugh at myself when I get lost. It's part of traveling. Allocate time for those instances. But when it's already an hour later and I still can't find my way, panic strikes. Try Philippines. You'll get dizzy finding signages. 😂 Your bestfriend is the people - the RIGHT people. 🤭
And all of them know what to do, unlike people who have never done it before where it’s made pretty hard for us. Your comment is a little short sighted and frankly, kind of dumb considering we said exactly that multiple times throughout the video. Watch something maybe before you comment or you risk looking silly and rude for no reason again, just some advice! 😁😁
It is actually nothing wrong to chew gums in SG but illegal to import or sell. If you have just some for own consumption, just keep in your luggage next time. If you are randomly caught with too many in your pockets, the officers will just make you throw away in front of them in the detention room & give a verbal warning, not a big deal. They are just worried about people bringing gum across the border to sell in SG. 😅 There is the skytrain to bring you from T2 to T1 at the Changi Airport. 😊
@josievlogsthings I would agree with you, if Malaysia is a developed country and they have signs that are idiot proof, but Malaysia is a developing country and signs are few and very far between.. so we need to ask literally
Seriously, I have been travelling all my life, never got lost, why? Coz, I am not ashamed to asked for directions. No matter how adventurous you are, ask for help, ask for directions. Please don’t blame the lack of signs, I have been places without signs in English, still muddle thru it asking for help.

Fyi after u cleared SG immigration, you can get on the yellow bus again (refer to the trip no: CW1 / CW2 etc ) to go direct to the MRT station using the same ticket..theres no need to pay again for taxi or bus
For example:
CW1 goes to Kranji MRT station
CW2 goes to Queens St Bus Station (near Bugis MRT station)
Or asking.
If not sure, just ask people for direction. It's that simple.
Actually, at malaysia custom, there is a direct bus service to Changi Airport n it is convenient.
That complex is huge and you will get lost for sure because you don’t know the border crossing as those who crosses everyday. It’s big and huge because it was built to accommodate thousands that cross daily.
welcome back, guys!
Wooo thank you! Always good to be back 😁😁
The bus going the bus will move straight into Singapore you just have to get of at two custom complex for checking point.
Watching this reminds me of watching episodes of The Amazing Race where travellers take the wrong directions and seeing couples under a lot of stress. 02:32 The train station was behind you !
Haha it did feel like that this day!
Otherwise, a bus ride would be my choice at anytime... trouble is ...clearing MY custom is often the hussle with long unwanted queue
Enjoy your stay in SG.
Personally i think they can avoid all these hassles if they watch any videos online about the KTM train from JB Sentral to Woodlands.
They did. Roti Boy shop located at the same building with train station. They're looking for train signage
@@josievlogsthings I see, ya, carrying that kind of luggage is ...... I had experience that before, of course, being a Singaporean, it helps that at least I am back to my country
come whatever the issue... enjoy your stay
Thank you for suffering through that and saving future travelers from the same version of hell!
Getting across the border isn't difficult unless you get your bags searched. Otherwise pretty simple.
There are credit card terminals on the bus, am I right ? I rarely use cash in Singapore I assume it is similar in JB.
Hello freand is coming if you want to come to Malaysia you take the Express Bus PRO LINE in Harbour Front in Singapore straight to Kuala Lumpur last bus near KLCC the last bus at Courise Hotel the same if you want go to Singapore take the bus at the Courise Hotel no need going to TBS STATION BUS.
Hope u will have a great time in Singapore. 👌
From the customs on the Singapore side to Changi, is very very far.
Enjoy happy holidays.....take care ❤
This is the fun of traveling to new places however, best would be to ask. Im Thai and just for example sometimes signage for Thais are confusing 😂
I dislike going to JB (Johore Bahru), especially long chaotic immigration clearance queue. The worse part is no clear signage of taking a bus to Singapore after the Johore immigration clearance point. The buses from JB are rather confusing and there is no proper queuing system.
24:45. The train ride is also just 5 mins. You wouldn’t have time to sort out anything either.
The stress came from having so many pieces of luggage rather than the crossing per se.
I mean yes I had 1 extra bag than usual to hold my stuffed toy but not really - all the stress was from not seeing any signage so crossing immigration and not being allowed back and with really no help as to what to do lol haha.
The signs for the train station is not very visible but you should have asked what is next best step to go into Singapore 😢
Hanging to find out where the next stop is! ✈️
You have done all modes of transportation. 😊
Thanks
Signages in Malaysia are confusing period LOL. For someone who visits Msia often, it is still confusing. Even Malaysians will complain about it lol. Everyone just get used to it.
You could have taken the Singapore SBS buses and use your credit card with paywave function. If I remember correctly, there is free wifi in the Woodlands Immigration.
tap your credit card on any Singapore bus ... 170 , 170 ,170X , 950 ... No need train or bus tickets
That guy is definitely a malaysian !
There is free wifi within the Singapore Terminals
Oof! What an ordeal! Glad you made it ok though. Xx
Have a great time in SG 🎉 Sorry for what happened to you in JB 🙏🏻
Wrong turns are always part of travel :) Good that U made it to SG
Well this is the world busiest border ya, both air and land routes, million are crossing every week...
Challenging travel days, don’t you love them 🤪 are you heading home for Christmas? They are predicting rain over Christmas however it is bouncing between hot and rainy day at the moment
Oh u didn't do a vlog for Singapore?
Fun video to watch.!
Next time, Try crossing Rio Grand into Texas 😂. I will come pick yall up in El Paso.
Hahahaha I’ll give you a call when we do!! 😂😂😂
Both Singapore and Malaysia immigration need to provide more booths to reduce the long queues
Like you said. You will just laugh about it later.😊
100% - already laughing 😂😂😂
Hahahahaha
Why do you take a train from JB to Singapore?
To get to Singapore?? Why else hahaha
Enjoying videos
Welcome to singapore. How i wish i could ferch you guess. As i was coming in singapore during your timing. If u need tour in singapore tell me
After watching the whole video, I am still confused. I will be crossing from Malaysia to Singapore and taking the bus as an American passport holder. Wish me luck.
Good luck, you may need it!!! 😂🤞🤞
Definitely don’t mess with Singapore immigration and customs protection 😅. They are on the balls when ensuring the country safety.
Any Rotiboy in Singapore .They should sponsor the channel 😋
The train service was like dinosaur to Malaysian, the problem is there is non connectivity between those services, Very bad planning and confusing. Malaysian need to use more brain in Town Planning.
You really need a milo now !! Lol
In America, it would be a Snicker bar. Hahahahaha
Train is below at the building where u buy ur bread, not the immigration building
The immigration building u r in has already cleared u of the immigration and literally u r out of Malaysia, hence why there are requesting u to get and entry again and they cant let u in again via the same route.
Oh no.. when I saw where you were walking I knew you were going the wrong way to the buses..
For train you need to go another area
Service standards in malaysia pretty low. You can compare your experience in jb vs singapore
So something that happened in JB represents the whole of Malaysia? Malaysia is not a city state like Singapore.
In KL, malacca , genting. Same. Thats my experience. Sucks@@ld-n1648
You can almost see a trend in attitude of front desk workers in FnB or hotels. They look like they don't want to work or see you. Completes tasks so slowly.
@@iwanmuzaki8049they pay in ringgit. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that why slow. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. You go pay them in USD 😂😂😂😂😂

Jessie was about to explode 😂😂😂
Stressful? Thousands of Malaysians travel this way to work in Singapore daily.
@@josievlogsthingsThis is the malaysians attitude for you!
Hahahahahaha
It is actually nothing wrong to chew gums in SG but illegal to import or sell. If you have just some for own consumption, just keep in your luggage next time. If you are randomly caught with too many in your pockets, the officers will just make you throw away in front of them in the detention room & give a verbal warning, not a big deal. They are just worried about people bringing gum across the border to sell in SG. 😅
There is the skytrain to bring you from T2 to T1 at the Changi Airport. 😊
I would think Singapore banned gum because many people would just spit them on the ground after they finished chewing them.
I live less than 10 mins to woodland checkpoint But i still confuse till today. Every crossing is a lucky draw. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂. Forget it lah. 😂😂😂😂😂.
What's the covid restrictions any news about that
I didn’t see any new ones come in, just that there was more cases
5:56 just take bus to sg. U already cross immigration.
……. Hopefully you kept watching after posting this comment lol
Welcome to Singapore! 😊
Hahaha!! 😁😁😁
Train just go down from KTm counter
Should have just ask for directions to the train well before immigration
Shouldn’t have to, that’s kind of silly that the default is to make people have to run around and ask for help when… a sign could solve the problem.
@josievlogsthings I would agree with you, if Malaysia is a developed country and they have signs that are idiot proof, but Malaysia is a developing country and signs are few and very far between.. so we need to ask literally
So yeah.. again… shouldn’t have to.
Seriously, I have been travelling all my life, never got lost, why? Coz, I am not ashamed to asked for directions. No matter how adventurous you are, ask for help, ask for directions. Please don’t blame the lack of signs, I have been places without signs in English, still muddle thru it asking for help.
Good for you 😂😂😂
And no, I will point out the lack of signs. How silly that you’re that upset about a slight criticism 😂
@@josievlogsthingsThe malaysians are not happy when people criticise them, but they can criticise other countries.
paying over-rated price for all man-made tourist attractions, hotel & food is simply stupid, money can be better spend in japan or taiwan
