- 1994, two teenagers were sitting in a bedroom in Texas studying for their one of their classes. At some point, one of the teens picked up a copy of Shakespeare's play called "Hamlet," and began reading lines out loud. And at some point, the teen who was reading read aloud a particularly famous section of the play that deals with death. And at this point, the teen who was listening started rocking back and forth before finally starting to sob. The teen who was reading stopped and asked what was going on. And in between sobs, the teen who was now very emotional said that the play had reminded them of a horrible thing that they knew about, but had not told anyone about. and now, after hearing those lines from "Hamlet," the teen said they just had to get this secret off their chest. And so, they would. Months later, the secret that was uttered inside that bedroom between two teenagers would make front page news across the country #mrballen #mrballenpodcast #truecrime #history

So Marie wanted to live with her scumbag mother who put her stepdad’s feelings before her own daughter. How dare a stepdad tell any child who they can live with.
I grew up in Northern California. We used to hike and camp in Lassen all the time. But the way you pronounce Mt. Shasta makes me laugh.

Marie obviously needs to be held accountable but Stepfather sounds like a real a-hole.. while he may not be legally culpable he is morally to an extent in my opinion.. I would never put my stepchild in a position to choose between one household or the other. the "bouncing around" he was talking about is quite common; it's called split custody
Im only 4 minutes in so this is probably not the main point of the first story but parents! Parents please model to your kids how you would want them to be like. If your man is cheating on you, leave, so that your daughter knows not to settle! Role model self respect !
Edit: so now that I’ve finished the first story…why? This is the cynic in me: Marie could have chosen to kill stepdad at the next family dinner. But instead kills her loving dad…obviously not as smart as she thought she was!
Marie is a sociopath. She should never have been let out of prison.
Absolutely shameful. She is and always will be a danger. Who knows when someone will inconvenience her enough again.
As unthinkable as it may seem and as contrary to our gut instinct it may be; and against our moral and and personal opinions - psychiatrically speaking, she may in fact not still be a danger to society. This is grounds for parole to begin with. It all depends on how evaluation, diagnosis, and mindset at the time, along with any personality disorders and treatment going into the future. An interesting train of thought could perhaps be a comparison to Gypsy Rose Blanchard.
I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with both of your opinions, I just believe it's interesting to discuss and think about.
@@MissVanHelsing I believe that's true and I am ignorant of the psychology behind it. But seeing how she killed her father to achieve a relatively unimportant goal. She was obviously smart and could of achieved the result in a number of way. One being to kill her step father instead. She chose her own loving father because it was convenient.
Now, imagine if she'd stifled her urges long enough for her to have actually gone into the medical field!🤯😬 And especially considering how hospitals protect/hide these kinds of events - staff intentionally killing patients - I can't even fathom how many victims she would've killed for twisted reasons before she was finally caught!💯💯👌
I think she lives in Ft. Worth now, and is divorced.

Marie literally made my blood boil. Its scary how some parents don’t know they’re raising their killer.
there is a similar story in mrballen, but the killers are his daughter and boyfriend's daughter. And the killers made a video confession about that like a joke, his ex-wife stepdown from politics because of cheating scandal

Why didn't Marie just kill Frank then? She sounds like she was a brat and the fact that her mom stayed with her cheating husband was just as bad. Putting your man before your kids is something I'd never understand.

I wonder if the people in white placed a little tracker on his tent after tracking him to his first campsite where they stole his food. After he abandoned his belongings and ran for the town in Shasta, they didn't follow him. I used to live in Northern Cal and there are some pretty scary people who live off the grid in the more remote locations up there.
I swear I clean my house 10x faster and more efficiently when I'm listening to Mr Ballen
