    I have seen people say the Cruze looks boring but I like the look. I have had sports cars in my day, convertibles etc. but for me this little Cruze does the trick. No, it doesn't have the power, looks or appeal of my old Z-28 but at age 49 those things do not quite mean as much lol. Peace people.

    Don't kid yourself, the Impreza has better reliability, capability, safety, rear seat room, and build quality.

      Wells306 You forgot one.
      Resale value.
      The Impreza will not have as much of a problem with depreciation as the Cruze will.

      The Cruze is actually pretty reliable, and for the price is really nice. Not to mention its much easier to din a Cruze in a manual, which will get you 42MPG.

      +Alex Silva I don't know about reliability, we have the cruze in Australia and it is one of the most unreliable if not the most unreliable car to ever be sold here, the other 2 are also GM cars.

      The engines in an Australian Cruze are no where near the same offerings in America. I believe the Australian models have the 1.6 liter. American models have a 1.4 liter turbo (featured in this video) or a 1.8 liter. They aren't the same car at that point.

    This is a joke. Consumers Reports has the Impreza as class leading for Compact Cars. The Cruze is bound to have a million recalls and to break down before it hits 100k. It doesn't beat the Impreza in shit.

    I love the people that bash GM. They have made some damn good engines and still do. They aren't perfect and yes they have had recalls but the continue to get better. Keep in mind GM sells a ton more vehicles than Subaru. I know Subaru's well as I live in Colorado and yes they are good vehicles but they aren't bullet proof and I have heard of the new models giving a lot of transmissions issues since they went to CVT, well even before that they had weak transmissions.

      Diego Perez I mean I own a 2013 cruze with 138k miles on it and have yet to have any issues.... my friend owns a 2010 impreza with only 92k miles on it and while he hasn't had any mechanical issues he's had his door handle for the driver and passenger rip off the car last winter and the passage side sun vizier fall off.... :/ don't really know where your getting you claims from but a cheap mass production car is still a cheap mass production car...

    both are nice but i picked the chevy over the subaru after test driving. i found it more fun to drive, the traction control proved good despite not having AWD, and even though i had a recall, i never had problems with mine. only reason i would pick the impreza over the cruze would've been for the WRX.

    They failed with the fuel economy part on this review, I daily my Cruze and with a manual, I get nearly 42mpg which leaves me happy. Yeah it is FWD but that doesn't matter to me, I daily this car, if I want something more fun I pull out my other car. I like subies but personally, I never liked the interior and feel of the car. It's always felt a little outdated. And Chevy nails it with their interior. But to each their own.

    Love my Cruze 2015 but it does ride a bit rougher than my older 2012 Cruze. I think the Cruze is a very nice car for the price. I think the Cruze also runs very well for a 1.4 engine...was very surprised with the power and torque of the Cruze.

  • @nr552

    I find the comparison when it comes to the dollars and MPH to be a bit misleading. I have a 2014 Cruze Eco (6speed manual) which is the same car shown, just with a slight change to the front end. 16k miles on it so far, lifetime MPG is 36 over 16k miles, highest MPG so far over an 80 mile trip in PHX was 54 mpg. That car is rated 27 city, 42 Hwy... and it does that and more. a $31k Cruze would have to be a 2.0 Turbo Diesel, which gets even BETTER MPG that my Cruze Eco. Additionally because the 1.4 is a turbo, there's a tune available for the car to give it a big bump in performance yet no MPG penalty when you drive in a normal fashion.

  • @BTC909

    The Cruze (Delta II) and the Volt (Delta II) are both on the same platform. The Cruze is tiny inside. I know someone who got rid of one because it was just too small.
    The Cruze looks like something an over 50 Dad would drive. Other markets already have the refreshed Cruze. The US & Canadian markets don't get the refresh until 2016.

  • @chrisransdell8110
    @chrisransdell8110 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The 2015 Cruze and 2016 Cruze Limited would be a smart choice in some ways. These are the last 2 years of this body style and several common Cruze durability problems were fixed in 2011 and 2012 plus the transmission calibration has improved over the years. The Cruze very quiet and, especially in trims with the z-link rear suspension, handles well while staying comfortable. Unfortunately that won't change the small rear seat and while MyLink is ok, it's also the last year for the current version of that which means it's 2013 tech at best.
    I haven't driven an Impreza but the touchy throttle is definitely annoying in a 2010 era Outback I drive occasionally. Also, for people who view driving as strictly as a chore that results in moving people and things, the Subaru's CVT will do just fine but for a lot of people who are into cars, they have droning sounds under acceleration and a decidedly unsporty feel. Finding either of these cars with a manual on the lot will be rare (Cruze Eco possibly an exception) but in theory at least you can get a Cruze with a manual in 3 trims, the highest of which (1LT) can be optioned up nicely. The Subaru only offers manuals only on the most basic trim levels.

    These are actually built on the exact same platform. They have collaborated many times before, for example the Navajo is the same thing as a Chevy Accord and the Trooper and Passport were the same even though one is a Chevy and one is a Subaru. Car companies do this all the time. They just change the name of the cars. The only difference is that Subaru is not sold in America any more, only in Europe.

    Cruze will always scream "Recall prone rental car!" to me. While the Impreza is the better of the two, it looks bland to me. Mazda 3 hatch all the way!

    • @Toastmaster_5000
      @Toastmaster_5000 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CM I agree, the Impreza is pretty bland looking. Except for the latest WRX, Subaru to me has never done a good job with aesthetics, but they're more about practicality and performance. The BRZ is also made by Toyota and Scion, so there's a good chance Subaru doesn't take the credit for the body. The Mazda 3 hatch was a close call for me but I didn't get it because:
      - It's a little more expensive
      - The infotainment system looks really out of place, like as though it were tacked in at last minute
      - It doesn't have AWD
      - Smaller trunk space and rear-seating
      - I don't care much for the big "smile" look in the front.
      - Mazda's rust-proofing isn't great. Not bad, but not good either. I live in an area that heavily salts the roads during winter.
      Otherwise, the Mazda 3 is overall better looking, it apparently has a better sound system, and it's very good on gas.

    • @guyproulx1660
      @guyproulx1660 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CM the impreza will easily outlast both of them and will be far more reliable not to mention the best AWD in the business, also a much better resale value

    • @2Kriss2Kross
      @2Kriss2Kross 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      guy proulx Subaru's AWD is good but I don't need it where I live and I just can't get past its bland looks, the last generation was better looking imo. Subaru's exterior and interior designs seem a generation behind everyone else plus Mazda's reliability is also highly ranked like Subaru.

    • @guyproulx1660
      @guyproulx1660 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CM i buy a vehicle for reliability and it's resale value, looks for me are not as important, like the interior for me is not the most important either, as long as i am seated comfortably, have a decent radio, a/c and electric windows, mirrors, tilt steering wheel, i am happy, mazda reliability as high as subaru? not so sure, which brand do you think will have a better resale? btw i see what your saying about the AWD, if you live down south, where i live the AWD is awsome and almost a necessity if you want to feel safe and planted on our iced up or snow covered highways

    • @jabombardier
      @jabombardier 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i had a 2007 mazda 3 that gave a lot of engine problems 4th year. i traded it for the recalled riddled cruze. yes the mazda was better at driving because i had the 2.3 liter and sport suspension but at least with the cruze i haven't been back to the dealer except for routine maintnenance and the first year recalls. 4 years later i have no problems and the car still drives well. gonna keep it 3 more before i trade up. so based on my experience with it, i say its no where near a POS unlike my unfortunate experience with the Mazda. This all just proves that perceived reliability is a joke. A lemon can be had with any car.

I didnt realize my sisters turbo engine makes 138 HP and my Buick is at 250 HP but she gets great gas mileage and my Buick not so much but its way more fun and its very much a luxury car and despite more HP its way quieter then the Cruze and the cruze is nice but not really built for luxury. They are similar but not very! They are about the same size but I didn't realize they don't share nearly as much as I had thought but if your thing is gas milage you should go with the Cruze, its a well built car.

      liquidsilver1941 my parents have had 4 subaru's since '83, first 3 all had over 250k, they just bought a 2014 last fall, the only part they replaced was a wheel bearing on their 3rd subaru (an 02 forester). all car brands have some issues, some way more than others, in my opinion subaru's reputation for overall reliability far exceeds GM, not to mention safety (crash tests)

      i agree. the interior of the impreza is well lacking. the same can be said for the bigger legacy.

      liquidsilver1941 I disagree. I owned both, and the Impreza is better in every category.

      madridtillidie It's cheap and relatively roomy? Some people buy cars strictly on the basis of affordability

      Francois Hamel lol you're probably right. I'd never buy one, but I see plenty of them on the streets so I guess some people really like them?

      britton coil I just dont understand how someone can spend hard earned money on this. Buy a civic or a mazda 3, something not this boring thing on wheels.
