I have been fortunate to be able to tour this castle. It is BEAUTIFUL inside. Very impressive view from the top of the stairwell looking down. Beautiful view of Victoria B.C. from the upstairs windows. Breathe taking. I am from Eugene, OR.
I grew up on Craigdarroch road as a child in the '70's. The music that poured out of it was so beautiful. My bedroom was front and center at the base of the castle grounds. So many wonderful memories!!
We use to play in the yard as children in the 1960's when it was closed - we flew kites there - I was thrilled to see it open and able to see just the main floor when it was first opened to the public as a museum - I hope to return and visit again
Just watched the horror movie 'The Boy," which takes place in this house. The castle was so impressive that I had to find out if it was real. Thanks for the video.
The castle was built with the blood of Vancouver Island coal miners. They kept the horses that carted the coal closer to the opening of Dunsmuir's mines because if there was an explosion, they could get the horses out. Coal miners were easier to replace than the horses.
I used to work there in the 80's. Still remember that Joan died in 1908 and that one of our hand-out flyers said that the castle was 'a launching pad for daughters'! (Meaning the Dunsmuir girls made good marriages but it came off as amusing with visions of them sailing off the top tower.) I am also amazed, looking at the credits, that Bruce still works there!
This castle was amazing to tour, it was incredibly beautiful. When I got home; my grandmother was telling me about how my family was somehow related to them, or the family that closely knew them back then. :o

Hoping to view this week while in Victoria
When and where will the documentary be available to the public?
I'd like to see this thing before the Cascadia fault shifts
