Story 3: That is literally (and legally) *actual child abuse.* That father needed to be reported to the police and/or CPS. Several of the things he did were actually illegal to do even to adults, let alone children. The last part about demanding that they take off their underwear for "inspection" could even be classified as *sexual assault of a minor.*

Manager talked too much to the birthday mom/Karen. Once she demanded to talk to the owner and refused to back down just keep her distracted while you call the cops. That was way too much conversation. As nearly every restaurant nowadays has cameras all over their dining areas just showing the cops the footage will be all you need to resolve the issue. Don't let your ego fool you into thinking you're some awesome verbal judo master. Prioritize the workforce instead and get that awful wretch of a "mother" hauled off in cuffs for assaulting staff. I am ao disappointed in OP in the 1st story. Regardless of Karen not paying the bill, her causing glasses to get broken or even throwing the wine in his face he should have already called the cops due to the harassment of the waitress by the Karen. Not to mention as soon as the waitress said the Karen tried to make her sit on the son's lap the waitress shouldn't have had to go back to the table. This is just ridiculous. Even if OP thought it may have been a joke initially, the waitress was clearly uncomfortable & he should've handled this whole situation completely different

Okay, story one. Mom grabs waitress and wrestles her to try and sit on her son's lap. That's assault and potentially SA against both the waitress and her own son. She broke glasses in the process of wrestling the waitress around, that is destruction of property. She then threw a glass of wine in the managers face, there's more assault. Then refused to pay her bill or for the glasses she broke, which is theft. So the question. Why were the cops not called? Why weren't charges pressed on her? Considering they sent her a bill which she still refuses to pay, why haven't they sent the police over to deal with her? Its nice that the son is mature, but that doesn't excuse letting her get away with it. Maybe a few months in the cooler will give her some proper perspective on how to behave towards waitstaff.

Looking back, I realize its a pretty universal thing for teenagers to lie to their parents, but some parents deal with it better than others. I like reading stories of parents who adapted to situations like that in a creative way instead of angry, a way that didn't insult the kid's dignity and allowed them a way to learn a lesson.
