we have children like this and some people are still fearing for our future. which is understandable given all this, but life finds a way, and mankind is a whole new kind of animal
He is right about getting involved and not just memorizing facts. Schools in the future should have smaller classes which provide more interactions between teacher and students.
This was a completely fantastic and engaging talk! I'm running a week of biomimicry summer camp at a nature center and I'm totally showing this to the kids!
I saw a sticky car phone holder that now I realize is using this technology. It was not very great because rapid sharp movements like road bumps will cause it to loose grip but still.
I agree. I think the problem is that US schools present science and math as boring as they can. As if they are literally trying to kill interest. When instead they should just start with something interesting to the class and walk them through the method without telling them. Then at the end ask the students what steps they took to learn something new.
I think its not just in the USA, but almost the whole world. Teaching methods have to evolve across the world but we now have the internet to aid us, which is a good thing............
In my opinion, sticky seat is a horrible idea. Considering the forces created in an accident, most light shirts and loose dresses would either tear off or stretch enough to allow the person to fly forward into the windshield/dashboard.
no, the title says "Curiosity, discovery and gecko feet" the comma and the word "and" in the title makes the video seem like it was about 3 different topics
Enjoyable video...great to see the kids getting involved and excited about science. Mr. Full is a pretty good teacher, but if he doesn't discover a treadmill he's likely going to be leaving this planet much too early.
Why do they have different hairs? Perhaps different hairs are better adapted for sticking to different surfaces? i.e. Evolution, natural selection, bio diversity etc.
I love how this guys slams the scientific method by calling it boring, then proceeds to tell us how to do science with 4 steps. Step one: use the the scientific method.
Piece of conformity or peace of life's puzzle. Is not existence itself merely a series of borrowed proxies, whether be it words, colors or numbers? Isn't it only that of the moment after moment of redefining moments that ultimately changes ways of thought, whether be it for worse or better? Quiet thoughts of creativity always speak volumes without making a sound, thats just the physics of thought. Not really a right way or a wrong way to learning.
what about say if you would but this sticky stuff on tires for better traction possibley even if its snowy or raining? IDK just what came to mind, i did though just watch a car video before this :P
Ah, logical mind, so if the compositional elements used to make a primitive compression piston was more then that of a non-conductive, could it possibly vacillate between opposing energy fields during the primal combustion process, maybe as a true (whatever that word means) hybrid? Wait.. gecko feet is that like the amphibious version of moon boot? Yep.. knowledge is like falling off the ladder, just in an effort to build a more logical ladder..
Fuck yeah! Geckoes!!!! Go sophomore in collage making a multibillion dollar industry! I envy your accomplishments and I hope that this makes the world a better place! Fuck yeah, I'm excited about the future! in 50 years, The world is going to be 50 years more awesome!

De beste leraren leren van hun leerlingen.
haha now harry is like "Now I have to take care of this fuckin thing."
It really reminds me what the science is. I forget how awasome it was :)

Using van der Waals forces to stick = mind blown.

What a splendid guy! :)
This video is supposed to be uploaded before "Mission impossible" the movie.
The infamous study of how the fly turns perfectly just before landing on the ceiling, yet can't find the way out of an open window..

*g* You don't know, what can't be done.
Very inspiring talk!

Came for Curiosity, stayed and amazed by gecko feeds 0.o

I am the only person thinking of making a spiderman suit out of this stuff?
Can you maybe elaborate, and do things like cite the research you'retalking about; or point out which part are lies and how?

The gecko uses The Force.
I thought it was "Curiosity: The diversity of gecko feet."
I thought they were talking about the Mars rover Curiosity . . .
Why don't people like these come to my school

I thought the title said Curiosity (rover), Discovery (shuttle), Geko feet (fetish...?)
He looks like Stephen Jay Gould

You're not allowed do a Ted talk unless you use the same tone of voice you would if you found your child taking a shit on your bed.
So simple a caveman can do it
oh wait, disregard my reply to u lol i didn't read your comment correctly my bad
WHARS MAH BUKKIT?
What's wrong with the scientific method? It may not be taught very well but that's not a reason to not teach it, just to teach it better.
too bad, i won't
Awwwwwwwww
So Harry gets a gecko and your man gets millions ha
nobody laughs at his jokes lol , talks about good stuff tho

Don't spout a load of nonsense without backing it up. How about some details.
