If I had a dollar for every pixel in this video, I'd have exactly 1 dollar.
I've seen Trey live and trust me he's one of the hardest hitting drummers out there.....triggers are mainly used so u can hear how fast there going... listen to a triggered kick and a kick drum with a mic going 260 bpm's whats easier to understand. ....and don't compare death metal drummers to dragon force two different levels.
Fucking thank you. First comments I have read in a while with the truth. Also "Dragon Force" is nothing but trash.
Yeah people think triggers are cheating mainly because there are ways to manipulate your kick to pick up extras notes like a double-stroke. so if you were doing heel-toe it would 2x double-strokes , but trey is just amazing in general and live too he fucking killllls it. once you can swivel with both feet consistently you can play fast asf
Right now, this is the best album I've ever heard every day all day.
Saw them live a while ago, trey had "slow down trey" written on his snare lol
... How did you see it??
Most of drummer don't really know what it is :)
It's a technic consist in playing a kick drum sample every time the real kick is played, used by most of metal producer and drummer. It help the sound to be clear, because at this speed nobody can hear a natural kick, it's just brbrbrbrbrbrbrbbrbrbrbrbrbrbrbr :)
It turn a natural kick in a electronic kick!
the way Trey describes his drum set reminds me of the way Patrick Bateman describes all his household products in painstaking detail lol.
Best DF drummer since Kevin Talley, just my opinion. Also love how Trey does lots of interviews and takes the time to go over stuff. Very cool cymbal setup.
Old comment but...Word. Kevin Talley was very creative
He is. I talked with him after the show in Copenhagen, and he was quite funny too! One of the best shows in my life (2nd time i saw them this year).
He is.. I had the glad to meet him in Costa Rica in 2011, and he is just so awesome person..
Sick drummer for a sick band, great band live as well !
He makes the words Dying Fetus together sound so lovely
Trey Williams is one of the most solid drummers I have seen, his style is awesome, and he is a relentless drummer. Props!
Wow he makes it look so easy. Just so chilled the whole time!
Trey is a really chill guy. Met him many times.
man tray is a cool guy I meet him when they play in Chile, great guy, so funny
Now, finally someone that spelled it all out, bravo, Layne.
I always knew this guy was a fucking monster drummer, but the speed of his kick drum rolls on Devout Atrocity blew my mind.
Triggers have absolutely nothing to do with speed.
This looks so promising!!! I loved their last album because it's just so groovy yet technically brutal.
Thank you!
drum triggers are devices that take the vibrations from the bass drum head being beaten in order to trigger a completely separate sample of a bass drum on a computer. Most big metal bands you will almost NEVER hear the actual bass drum but only a computer sample. Many of the tones you hear on albums are actually really difficult to get to a live audience, and extreme speeds just cant hold up. Bass triggers provide clearer, more punchy and effective tone.
I met these guys when i saw them live, Trey is beast and is underrated
Check out the featured song/video on our channel! It's our new song "Reanimated Monstrosity" FEATURING GUEST VOX FROM JOHN GALLAGHER OF DYING FETUS! They even shared the song/video on their social media pages! \m/
I meet him after their show in sweden getaway he came down signed after he had rirgged off really great guy ! down to earth really nice to fans
For the same reason guitarists and bassists go on about their signal chains, amps and guitars; or vocalists about their breathing, mics, lyric inspiration or whatever. Primarily, it's interesting for those people out there that have musical leanings. Just because you're not into it doesn't mean to say that it's stupid. In the words of @finowa: "go be twelve somewhere else".
If they drummer can hear them in real time they can. The effect is similar to what makes a guitarist play more bravely under heavy distortion.
Very cool dude gotta meet him after they played
i like how he is using a pearl vision cause that is one of the lower end pearl models but that is bad ass and they sound great shows you dont need expensive drums to sound good
5:50 sounds awesome
I know birch is good for metal with its high frequences, but that is not what I meant.
I expected the drummer to use a higher placed drumkit in the Pearl line, that also use Birch.
BRUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL!!!!
I thought I did, lol. I've used them live a bunch, lugging them around. Band practices many times, recorded with them. The last few years though I haven't been playing nearly as much as I'd like but I'm a business owner too and don't have a huge amount of time anymore like I did when I was younger. That's life though. When it is time for new ones I'll check what else is on the market to compare.
Rockin the jaguar at 0:17 yeeah!
What most bands actually do, is take a trigger, AND a mic, and record both tracks, and then in the final mix, they mix both the triggered and mic'd bass drum track
Sounds quite eloquent. Can you imagine a rapper speaking as clearly as this?
It also helps fulfill their sponsorship contracts, but mostly because real musicians care about this shit and want to know how certain sounds are achieved.
Yeah, maybe I have pillowy soft feet, haha. I'll check out those Trick pedals, thanks for the suggestion.
I think he has a reference kit as main drumset if i am not totaly incorrect!
holy CRAP! That snare sounds so BEAUTIFUL! I looked it up, $600 :O
and that snarehead, just the drumhead, is $60! And thats not including all the toms, and gorgeous cymbals he's using. I love this set-up, I am jealous. Maybe one day i'll get to lay down my wood on such a beauty.... one day. \m/
Awesome!
Beast mate.
Odd to hear you think Axis break. I've had mine for about 15 years and the only thing taht ever broke was one bearing which Axis fixed right away. Any particular part you think breaks really easy? Not saying you've never seen broken ones but I'm curious because mine have been solid as shit.
Watching this made me feel so much better about the fukk ups I had in my drum tracking haha. No where near as complicated but still.
Such a good fuckin band man. Fuckin Brutal!! I got to meet Trey in Dallas last May. Mfer is hilarious.
5:35 The Blood of Power!
Oh look its Finowa! :)
awsome death metal drummer
5:45 whata rythm!! sick
i always thought he was a hardcore badass :O he actually sounds very nice :)
fuck yeah did some speed with this guy once! hell of a guy
2:52
Okay, I'm a guitarist and I hear this a lot. What is "triggering" exactly in terms of drumming?
so then throwing a trigger sensitivity right up there and using light taps on a bass is not going to be faster than using full power on a full stroke. or lets look at the Roland triggers that require a cam shift to hit resulting in a drastically shorter stroke to produce a note(dragonforce drummer uses them that i know of) is not going to be faster. fact is that people have used high sensitivity triggers to create a shortcut to going faster by ways of either lighter hits or shorter strokes
Trey makes it look so damn easy. XD Damn he is a great drummer.
hell yeah \m/
Trey seems like a cool guy.
Where can I buy a Dying Fetus jersey like he's wearing?
Electronics. Replaces the drum's sound with a sample. Metal drummers tend to "layer", using a very clicky sound along with the drum's natural sound, so each individual hit can be heard at super high speeds.
oh john with new axe?
They just fall apart faster than any other pedal I've seen. Do you play really hard?
DF!!!
Yo, hatebreed tours over, unless they're still going and ive just taken a really long smoke break.
Trey I fucking love you.
Easy to just google it. Look up eHow what are drum triggers. There are some youtube vids that can show as well.
FUCK YEAH! \m/
Why do they put blankets over the kick drum?
That shit tight G haha
Pearl Vision X series actually
To soften the noise, while keeping the same tone.
birch is perfect for metal.
ah cool
"Rim Jobbing it. Fart!" Haha.
Trey FUCKIN' Williams.... good man
awesome TY for the vid :) \m/
The Blood of Power?
Hmm. Interesting. Thanks!
Alright, maybe you just know how to treat them lol and when you're looking for new pedals, if you can find some to play, you should definitely check out Trick pedals because they are sweet.
It's more stupid to don't know about the gear that the extreme metal bands drummers can use. For the mainstream can be not so relevant information, But for the professional people is something very important and interesting, and actually for some fans too.
he makes it look so fucking easy...
how come the pedals are censored?
yeah, I'd say thats more like it. lol I wonder if Trey shits bricks when viewing other drum sets the way Patrick does when he looks at his coworkers business cards. "...OH GOD... IT EVEN HAS A WATERMARK..."
Probaply due to endorsement agreement. Good questions, though.
Anyone took a look at the tags?!
or on speed???
Anyone who is a fan of behemoth or just black metal stuff in general should check out Carach Angren they're pretty beast
Carach Angren is a dope band.
@@karankathayat6318 lmao that's crazy I made this comment almost a decade ago. Now carach is way bigger since then
can somone send a link with full name of snaredrum
eich eich eich eich eich eich eich EIGHT inCH XDDDDDDd
lets try one more time
what kind of drum heads did he say he was using?
+Mario Llamas Evans G1s bottom and G2s top (Toms), EQ3s IIRC on the kick and a Marching snare head. All Evans which should all be on their website. Hope that helps Mario
yeah yo. thanks man \m/
Mario Llamas No problems dude, I am a total gear nerd, Especially guitar and studio gear but I like to keep up in all areas that come in useful for studio work. Take it easy and \m/ back at ya
Fucking killer band Dying Fetus death metal forever!!
My pants just got massive...
no i meant mental :P as in its fucking amazing
technical stuff ?
pearl! fuckyeah
You also need extreme motivation to keep up the practicing for years straight
