- Selling lambs is the main source of income for our farming business. So taking 226 lambs to one sale was pretty nerve racking.
This sale was on 5th December at UA Stirling.
It's a store sale which means the lambs are being sold on to farmers who will graze / feed the lambs until they are at a prime weight / condition.

ABOUT ME
I’m 32 years old and I’m a sheep farmer from Ayrshire in South West Scotland, which is why I have such a strong accent! I was born and raised on a sheep farm watching my dad who was the shepherd.
At 18 I went away from farming to work in the city (something I still do) and at 23 (2013) I decided I wanted to do something for some extra money so I went on a sheep shearing course. The hardest thing I’ll ever do was learning to shear sheep. [shudders thinking about it]
I shore whilst on my holidays from work for 2 years and then in 2015 my dad died so I decided to get my own sheep so I could continue working with sheep as it was something I loved doing. From there it escalated quickly from my first 4 sheep in my mum’s garden to now running around 850 breeding ewes.
I shore over 19,000 sheep this season in the UK and have my own shearing run which lets you see many different farms in the summer months.
A few years ago I bought myself a sheep pregnancy scanner and have been building up my run since then.
I watched a few farm vlogs on TH-cam and decided I could have a go and now here we are!

Sell em! You guys have so much going on, having over 400 lambs is a lot of extra work. Lizzie being out with the new babe makes it a little tougher, but nothing you can handle. YOU’RE DOING FANTASTIC SIR.

Great watching that sale. When you listed your work and everything coming up plus of course not having Lizzie sharing the load…I felt overwhelmed for you. But you achieved great per capita prices…which of course proves you re doing a grand job….good luck for the next sale…I m looking forward to that. Looked at many older videos this past week- your sheep have gotten better every season.
Mom used to tell our collie he had jingles in his pants if he had dirt or matted hair around his backside and back legs😂😂 he loved to be brushed out because he had a beautiful coat

Its easy counting sheep. You count the legs and divide by four.
So I believe that the American pronunciation of briers is br-i-ers with the bri blended but ending with a long i. Then closed out with a hard er(s).

First video I've watched. When did you start your farming journey and how did you get into it? I'd love to but wouldn't have a clue on how to start or fund it! I took my ex to an auction once as a date. We loved it! I had to stop her buying things though haha

I really enjoyed the sale.
Nineteen different field locations, and the incomparable Superwoman Lizzie now with a new baby as well as a very active toddler - no wonder you want to winnow down your lambs! I'm please for you both that you obtained a good average sale price. I hope the next set does at least as well. Are you planning to continue sheep farming with the multiple variety of breeds you have, or are you planning to focus on fewer breeds in the future?
We're moving more towards just having mule ewes and texel cross lambs. Make it simpler. Thanks

The price also shows the difference when there sheared. All the worries about shifting a large batch was worth it. There off your food bill now.
