    I love it! "Unsuccessful" is not how I would say this hunt went. Every hunt is about the experience, not the harvest. The taking of an animal is the cherry on top.

    I'm converting a lifetime of hobby archery into Hunting this year.
    Living in British Columbia, raising two growing kids, and a small dog pack. Don't forget the obligatory mousers.
    So we need and have use for the meat.
    Going to start with WT Deer and Mule Deer, Black Bear, and Geese.
    Going to have a Wolverine tag and a Cougar tag. Because one might cross my path.
    There is something special about wolverine fur, for traditional clothing.
    So nothing will go to waste.
    I'm watching all of your archery videos. And then working through all of the species videos.
    This one has terrain much like I have in British Columbia.

    Fantastic video, great teamwork and beautiful scenery. Scott made the right call passing on that shot. I have used a longbow for years and you need to go with your gut and ensure an ethical kill on the animal. Sometimes that means passing on a shot - all part of the game. Well done gentlemen!
    Scott (another one)

      I told Scott that "When I grow up" I will shoot traditional gear. I so much admire folks who can commit to that level of discipline and practice. I hope you find a great elk. Best of luck.

    Beautiful country that is.
    What's the issue with the filming permit in a wilderness area? Is that just because it's a professional production? I never heard of such thing. What happened to the "take only pictures mantra" we here all the time.Now you can't even do that without a permit?

    • @toliveforthenow

    Where in Nevada are you

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We don't give specific units. It would be unfair to those who hunt those areas. Northeast Nevada is the general location.

    I know nothing about hunting. What is a left over tag?

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      In many states, you have to apply for an tag/license in a limited entry drawing/lottery. Sometimes there is not enough demand and there are fewer applicants than there are tags/licenses, so the sell the "Left overs" on a first-come, first-served basis. Thanks for watching.

      +Randy Newberg, Hunter Ohhhhhh okay, I get it now. Thanks! Hopefully I can start hunting sometime. I use a recurve for frogging and bowfishing but their is alot I still need to learn about hunting haha.

    Randy would you ever consider coming to Florida to hunt public land for hog or deer ? If you have and I didn't see it sorry ! I know are deer are small but no one hunts public land out here for shows and I would love to watch how someone as experienced as you would take to hunting this flat thick land we have down here !!

    • @Fresh_Tracks
      @Fresh_Tracks  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      We probably won't. Not because I don't want to, but we promise our sponsors and the network we will do western big game hunts for native species. They spend other advertising dollars with other shows to reach the hog, deer, eastern hunting audience, so they ask us to stay focused on the west. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching.

    • @MyEmily23
      @MyEmily23 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Randy Newberg, Hunter yea that makes sense. Thank you for answering me! Your show is awesome in a time of a lot of fenced hunts and everything! I love it that you show the hunts where you may not get the big bull. I can't wait to have an opportunity to get out west and try a public land hunt myself.

  • @chrisadams1063
    @chrisadams1063 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is excluding the reservations you can't forget about that there's no borders when you're walking through you could be on reservation land and never know it and it needs to be on maps so you'll know where you are more precise GPS positioning system and public lands can be turned into reservations at any time and deeded to them don't hate associate this could also help you find some help you got lost in the woods who you going to help who you going to call that accept phone your cell phone falls in the water falls off the cliff falls down the hillside you can't find it who you going to call GPS is still in your backpack you're going to have to find your way out

    Good job got to sling an arrow randy I have said it before ill say it again I would strongly urge you to get a hecs suit it works its the absolute best investment I've made in the 50 years I've been hunting I got the suit in 2013 and I can get to 10 yards without using my cow decoy I also use a doe decoy that straps right to the bow .
    My partner got a suit as we go coyote hunting often since he got his suit we kill a minimum of two dogs each time we go we scouted for deer in nv and my buddy was amazed that we could get so close. But good luck on future hunt I watched your bison hunt awesome .
    If you ever get a chance to hunt otc in az January rut get in touch as I can show you on a map exactly where to go and what dates the rut is at its peak I've hunted the 36 units for 50 years and know it well . chiefwhitetailhunter out aim small miss small uncle Ted got that from me lol

    The native American peoples did the same thing, they'd wear deer skins and tie antlers to their heads to look like another deer
