Dang-it wanted to see Bernie drop that bull. Shooting from a position where you have to squat a bit or stretch has messed up more than one shot for me. When I lived in Idaho I always dragged a closed cell camping pad with me and had the rifle laid out on a bipod w/a small rear bag filled with bean-bag styrofoam. Being comfy is nice when you get older -just throwing out there how I do it. Randy --your the man ! taking guys like Bernie hunting is a great thing to do .
Bernie thank you for your Military service. I was willing for you to get that elk. The shot was perfect left to right just off on elevation. Happens to the best of us. Best of luck with other hunts.
@@Fresh_Tracks there is some very big bulls in that country I worked for that ranch for 3 years I worked on their water wells and did a lot of fencing! Being out in that country everyday seeing nature at its finest makes it easy to go to work! Another great video Randy thank you
great hunt Randy, i enjoy your videos. livijg here in Elko, i know where you are hunting and how tough it is! did you call NDOW and report that wanton waste bull you found? and description of other hunters in area. big game poaching and waste like that is a felony in Nevada.
I did not have any coverage by which to contact anyone. It was a few days old once I stumbled across it. I find it hard to believe that the shooter did not know he killed it, given it was a perfectly placed shot and it was in a wide open area.
@@NVGUY4732 just because it was laying there dead doesn't mean somebody just shot it and left it could have been wounded and ran for miles if you are a hunter you should know better then to assume
I hear what you are saying and I agree with you. However, I respectfully disagree on this particular situation. The shot placement on this bull elk was picture perfect from the footage I saw. It was right in the lung area. I would agree with Randy. That bull did not travel very far before it piled up. The unit/terrain where Randy was hunting is pretty open country for the most part. We all have our opinions and I respect yours. Best wishes!
It sickens me that somebody could kill a majestic animal like that bull or any animal for that matter and just leave it to waste. That should be a 10 year prison sentence MINIMUM!!!!
always appreciate his diy hunts - i am familiar with this arthritis problem - going to namibia in a couple weeks
Nice that you help this hunter out!!!
Thanks for the video. And DAMN nice of you to help that ol boy out

The stalk! That's what I love about hunting! Even if I don't shoot. If I can get close, that does it for me!
That is when the pulse starts to quicken.

Randy Newberg, Hunter im surprised you didnt gps it and report it later-
Unfortunately, it's a misdemeanor in Nevada (NRS 503.050). Sad set of circumstances and IMO it should be a felony.

Bernie that Old vet and I have a few things in common: he wears his cammies to hunt.
Who ever shot that elk and left it should not be aloud to hunt for years
