Absolutely amazing Georgia still amazing views along the Cumbrian coast line and congrats on completing Cumbria and definitely looking forward to the rest of the series keep it going!
I remember when the river at Workington washed a bridge away. The only bridge that connected North and South Workington. Until the bridge could be rebuilt. A temporary station was opened and called Workington North. It took a local Army Regiment a week to build it. DRS ran a free loco hauled service between Workington and Maryport which called at Workington North and Flimby and Northern did the same. For that time. Flimby was a normal stop. All because it took 50 minutes to get between the affected parts of Workington. Needless to say a few enthusiasts went up for the loco's. The loco hauled service being known as the 'Flood Ex'. Workington Main was acutally Workington Main. The original station opening in 1846 purely as Workington. Before being renamed Workington Main by the LMS in 1924. There was also a Workington opened by the Cleator and Workington Railway Company in 1879. Renamed to Workington Central a year later. The extra line at Wigton went to a coal depot. Theres also an oil terminal at Dalston which you missed.
Wonderful vlog as usual G! We did the Cumbrian Coast Line last month and wore your Northern Only Station tee shirt on the trip. Took photos of the station signs from the train. Not that bloody easy though.
I lived in HMP Aspatria for five long years 😞 'Poo' and 'Aspatria' deserve to be forever immortalized in the same sentence. Thank you for being the first on TH-cam to do it 👏
Thanks for anpther great video Georgia, I cant wait for when you upload Manchester Metrolink tram versing Zone 4 becuase my local station is Radcliffe and has a Mcdonalds nearby.
Brilliant video as always G! But even more special was unexpectedly ACTUALLY meeting you at Workington Station that day ( and I can just catch a glimpse of me seated in the background). I'm a regular leisure traveller on the CCL and cannot recommend it enough. Just a few days after meeting you I bumped into Conductor - no Guard - Phil on a train from Oxford Road to Lancaster, so no need to chase him now. Also glad you like Nova 2's, they're my favourite. Perfect combination - Nova 2 to Carlisle, then CCL all the way back to Lancaster!
Thanks for the video G, well done for completing the Cumbrian Coast some goudous stations and beautiful scenery was that a pair of chickens 🐔 I saw!!😎🚃🚃🐓🐓🚆🚆🇬🇧
Aldi were busy taking over the adjacent retail unit while you were visiting Penrith - they are back open again and twice as big as they were before ... Because we are posh in Penrith we also have a Booths (like they do in Settle and Ulverston), but it's too posh for me - lol! Brilliant video once again!
Maybe CAF could manufacture the Civity trains to replace the Class 455 and Class 313 if Southern are to order new trains and to run on DC 750v 3rd Rail.
G, request stops, I love how you have overcome your fear, embarrassment, lack of confidence (please choose one or make one up of your own !!!). Superb editing and fun moments throughout, you must be near your final journeys in this series, I hope (you will have) you have something else up your sleeve to replace this series when it finishes , Choosdays wouldn't be the same. Looking forward to the next one , stay safe
Must've been surprised when you saw the Creamery at Aspatria! Finally, Cumbria has been finished, I'm waiting for the Rochdale line (Moston, Mills Hill, Castleton, Rochdale, Smithy bridge and Littleborough), as it's my second closest line to me. Great video as always 👍
At last I've found Wigton in your vids!!! My local station. The third line there is occasionally used to stable track machines. The line for the factory is further across, and drops down at a lower level. There are still some tracks in the factory. I used to work there. Workington had three stations. Central was in the town centre (where else?), and is now a car park. Workington Bridge (next to a bridge) was on the line to Cockermouth (not Cockfosters), Keswick and Penrith. Until 1966, you could have travelled direct from Penrith to Workington via Keswick. Now that was a scenic line! A few years ago, there was a tomato plant growing on the tracks at Carlisle. Its life cycle was tomato - eaten by person - made into poo with the seeds - flushed onto track - grow into plant! Hope that's of interest.
That is a beautiful stretch of track. I am nearly 40 and just about remember the days of the older trains emptying their toilet waste on the tracks. There used to be white piles on the sleepers; it was gross!
Awesome Vlog as always GLovesTrains and il agree with you Cumbria is such a beautiful place to visit I do like Cumbria so much myself wow that awesome I didn’t know Flimby was right near the sea otherwise I would of visited that station last week and il agree with you Workington is a completely different station compared to other stations I was also fortunate to visit Workington last week and I love that massive sign yes there was a sign there G with Workington Main at the station as you mentioned I’ve really enjoyed you visiting all these Cumbrian Station along the coastline and other stations inland my gosh even Penrith station looks awesome too it’s definitely worth a visit keep up the good work your doing GLovesTrains and keep on being awesome and I look forward to seeing your next adventure wherever you may go until then take care and stay safe ps I’m staying in Wigan Wednesday and Thursday night to do some more filming myself I might even visit Penrith

Visit Cumbria could hire a whole team of filmmakers to make an epic video and it still wouldn't be as effective as your vlogs in making me want to visit all these lovely Cumbrian stations. Thanks for this great video, G! It will be fantastic to see you highlight off the final North West station in your book but it will be a tiny bit bittersweet too because I've enjoyed this series so much. Just a tiny bit bittersweet though 'cause you'll go on and make even more awesome vlogs in the future
You have mastered the un-baaaa-lievable art of stopping a train at a request stop G 😄 fantastic video as always and as Geoff Marshall (who’s totally not related to me btw 😂) would say, “All the Cumbria stations - tick!” ✅😎
Absolutely brilliant as always, G 👍 Congratulations on completing all the stations in Cumbria. There's loads of stations on the Cumbrian Coast where I've never got off a train, even though I used to live in that part of the country in my younger days
Some lovely stations and scenery there. And Carlisle yet again! Great video. Cumbria complete - but I’m sure you will go back. And glad you liked Morrison’s - my favourite when I lived in Warrington.
Congratulations Georgia on finishing the Cumbria line so interesting and looked awesome you make it so exciting to watch well done and keep up the good work 😊😊
Great Video! I was planning to do the Cumbrian coast line for the first time this weekend but I will have to abandon that due to weather (as I would have to travel to Carlisle from the north east) but that's ok because I have just discovered this video series so I can spend the weekend catching up on the other 40 videos instead which will be great fun!
Hiya Georgia, hope you're well and ok... I've just subscribed to your really interesting channel... You have certainly visited some really breathtakingly beautiful places... Absolutely love your wacky sense of humour... Brilliant.... Flippin brilliant and keep up with the excellent videos... God bless you... With the most kindest regards from Nige... A brilliant vlog. :) It's so amazing you've completed all the stations in Cumbria now. :) A beautiful county indeed. :) Also those displays at Penrith North lakes, I had no idea they were there when I went trough on the way to Scotland in August 2019. The mosquito fact is quite the fact to know about (gonna have nightmares now). Also Wigton really does sound like a certain town don't it?
The Class 397 Nova 2 Transpennine Express Civity trains are very nice. And Penrith is beautiful. Plus you got to have a McDonald’s unless you are being very healthy and Morrisons is ideal. Plus as you said Dalston in Cumbria. There is a Dalston in East London (Dalston Kingsland and Dalston Junction). And I do like your humour.

Close to perfect is this series. Mad, bad and dangerous-to-cross-the-tracks-on-a-pogo-stick kind of daft, with perfect delivery and everything works. Keep on your winning way G.
