    This is one of the best and underrated TH-cam channels!
    I’m a terrible woodworker, but I am an EE with a love of RC drones and amateur radio, so I will definitely be using these great techniques.
    Thank you!

    There’s a special magic that happens when you listen to a master talk so passionately about their craft and the details of their techniques. Such a treasure trove of valuable information and it’s had me question some of my own preconceptions around the use of CA glue, especially around wood working. Would love to see some of this knowledge applied to plastic and metal applications (especially as someone passionate about 3D printing).

    The question on the glue drying out comes from a southern high humidity states that can run 3 to 5 months with 80 humidity We have trouble with the tube.Stopping up needles getting stuck in just because of the moisture in the air.
    I'd rather deal with 3 to 6 ounce bottles And I can stretch that to her three months. The problem with high humidity and wood is. Outside of these high humidityou're ended up using outdoor Using tightype bond would go for outside glue wood together. Kind of found if acetone or MEK Well, soften the 2 pieces.You're trying to glue together?Super glue work very well in those circumstances. I have been known to put answer tone on the 2 parts.I want the blue glue together and then take a wire brush.And scrape unreal good and then Apply the super glue and it's almost impossible to break.
    I'm quarreling as the town will remove the super glue.But if it's a nylon or plastic it will also melt equipment so you have to be real careful what you use.

    I have been able to use super glue to bond to PP plastic with proper preparation. The area needs be sanded and clean of anything oily. Then I rub baking soda into the area to be bonded . I believe the baking soda is causing bonds to form around microscopic edges of the plasti. I believe the method would also work on PE and HDPE. I’m not sure how strong the bond is as I was using this method to glue plastic eyes onto a homemade fishing lure that was PP on the outside.

      Thank you for your comment and suggestions, by prepping the surface with course sandpaper providing a "tooth" and rubbing the sanded surface with baking soda, will most definitely improve the strength of the bond on any material. David Riddle

    Yes, if you glue leather to leather you better go with contact cement, it stays flexible. But, I know cobblers have to use super glue in some instants. As far as I remember he told me especially foam soles to rubber he can only bond with superglue. So to a certain extend it is flexible enough to keep a sole on a shoe. But I guess it will be all cracked but it still bonds. LOL, just came to the point he actually talks about the shoe soles…

    Interesting. Some questions: Cyanoacrylate reacts to moisture, is that an anaerobic reaction? I thought that meant "without air" and that the CA reacted to moisture in the material or the air. Activator causing exothermic reaction to harden? Never heard of that either. I always thought that it was the polymerization itself that was exothermic and that the accelerator, which speeds up the reaction (intensifying the exothermic event) doesn't cause an exothermic reaction. Need to read up on this it seems. Sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language.

    • @HowToHomeLife
      @HowToHomeLife  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment and questions, since cyanoacrylate is an anaerobic cement, and is why there is always an air-space above the glue in the bottle, there is no need to cap the Teflon tube! If you wish to transport the bottle, simply put a pin into the end of the tube. David Riddle

    The present day accelerater is very different from what I used early 90s, today accellerator is oily and what oddly smells more like strawberries?
    The old stuff appeared to be semi gaseous causing extreme setting up of the glue, too much glue/accel would off gas quickly leaving a cloud of smoke. ZAP CA brand.

    The instructions on the bottle of BSI accelerator say not to use with thin CA. What are your thoughts on why they would say that since it works so well for your purposes? I’ve used it for my small repairs with no issues, but I wonder why BSI would warn against it.

    • @HowToHomeLife
      @HowToHomeLife  26 วันที่ผ่านมา
