Exactly!! Not even any of the V8 vehicles I’ve driven cruise that low. The least I’ve seen was around 1800 rpm. Horribly painfully slow car. Almost fell asleep doing the 0-60 pull lol
@@southwestohiodashcam6838 it insane the only cars I can think of that come close are the viper which is at 1600 rpm at around 70mph and the crown Victoria which is also around 1700 but never seen 1500 before
Coming back to correct this. I just test drove a 2009 Impala and might be buying it. It actually sits at 1800 at 70. In the video I was all the way off the throttle so that’s why the rpm was lower. The torque converter is just super spacey and spongey lol
@@southwestohiodashcam6838It makes you wonder why did GM put these excessively tall gears in these cars. It actually kills your gas mileage when you have to press the pedal more to accelerate.
@@thedirtybubble9613 yea exactly and it surprised me that at 70 miles an hour, it cruises along at 1500 rpm. I have never seen a v8 engine even do that low of rpm. Maybe that’s why these transmissions were troublesome too, because they require a ton of footwork to get moving at a decent speed. Nonetheless it’s a smooth car to drive, only slightly rough shifts every so often.
1500 rpm at 70mph is insane. good for highway mileage but absolutely trash for acceleration

Slow
Yea, yea this is as slow as it gets haha. It’s got enough spacing between the gears to kill the acceleration of these
@@southwestohiodashcam6838 at least it's faster than a 2.7 liter V6 Dodge/Chrysler

@@southwestohiodashcam6838the newer ones have better transmissions but this 4t65 Is absolute trash. I’d slap a 6 speed in there.
