It always makes me happy when someone shows that you don’t need the latest and greatest gear… but that with just a simple stand, some creativity, and a bit of experimenting, you can achieve amazing results. Thanks for sharing. I love your content!
I am stunned by this video. Just bought a second hand TT350 and stumbled upon this. What a teacher are you! What a girl, and what the results! You are such a skilled photographer. Thank you for revealing your studio set up. It means so much to a prospective student. The video too is so conveniently put up, instructive. Thanks a lot. -There was just one, but huge disappointment. I couldn't recognize the camera, could have been a MFT of mine, I thought first, but the lens betrayed the full frame. I was immediately struck by the immaculate skin color throughout the shoot. When in the end you revealed that it was R5, my heart sunk. Too expensive, not accessible for me. I am having hard time with my Lumixes, not only because there is that perpetual magenta hue, but also because I can't fix the skin color even in post, whatever I do - raw, jpeg, no use. Yes, I know Canon is renowned for its skin color, but still...I don't feel like changing the system for it, yet this problem does go on my nerves. Cheers from the Lowlands!
Try setting your kelvin template rather than using the white balance on flash or auto. Start at 5200 and go up and down from there to see what works best for your sensor.
@@kaskoPhoto Thanks a lot! I tried some settings, and strangely, my G9 doesn't like the auto balance 'flash', but the AWB is fine. I tried bouncing the flash (with a small diffuser plate) off the rear white wall quite close to camera, and got no shadow whatsoever on the wall behind the model. Incredible! Just that the contrast was a bit lower. Direct hit without bouncing or diffusers was to my surprise also quite acceptable, go figure! Next step is experimenting with those Kelvin values. G9 orig. has a very old sensor, it used to be top in 2017 but is not any more now. I can't get the color and luminosity freshness as in your shots in this video. Maybe I need to find both a model and a body younger than these :)))
I love all the lighting setups and looks you did with the same flash. Really creative and resourceful. Also cool how lightweight that setup is with a reflector, compared to using a bigger lighting modifier like a softbox or umbrella. At 12:22 in the video, what did you use to connect the MagMod shoe to the magic arm? That’s the only missing piece keeping me from getting a similar setup. I’m learning so much from you about lighting and off-camera flash on a budget. Thanks for all you do.
I knew that one Godox/Flashpoint speedlite could control others in their R2 radio system ... what I did NOT realize is that some Canon's built-in controls could as well (when a compatible flash is on the hotshoe). I have the R8 with that feature, and already have a TT350C. I'm thinking of a few different scenarios for myself: 1) Get a TT350"O" for use with my Olympus ZX-1 or as a slave when shooting with the other speedlite on my R8. 2) Get a controller for when I want the 2nd light off-camera. 3) Get an AD100 for more flexibility outdoors, used with or without the two TT350s! ... it's not that I want to make it complicated, but once or twice a year I'm asked to be the "photo taker" at a family event with about 10 people who always seem to line up instead of be arranged in two rows. That is both a focal length consideration and a lighting challenge if only using one speedlight.
Well the 350s are a great little light, but I will recommend the V350s with the rechargeable batteries are a big upgrade. And for the size, they would make a great controller. But I always like a little remote myself for off camera - but that’s because I use the camera/remote for long periods so smaller is better for me.
Interestingly using TTL close up didn't work properly, I had noticed that on my AD100's, I was just using manual. I will try using the lights back a bit and try TTL again.
I don’t have any because I’ve never used it. But the size looks great and I believe it has full manual mode so there are two positives. And the price is really good as well. It may just be a great little light.
Not that weird that when when you were up close it underexposed. She has very light skin and you filled the frame with her. TTL works on the same reflective metering your camera does so it's trying to bring everything to that middle grey tone. If it sees mainly brighter tones in the image chances are it's going to put out less light; conversely, when you backed up and let a lot more of the dark background into your shot it saw that and put out more juice in an effort to bring the picture up to midtones. That's probably what happened.
I don't know if they can actually do 500 full power flashes either, as I've never tested one to that extent, but I've definitely gotten over 350 pops at higher power outputs on a single charge without issue.
If you use a rogue flashbender as a flag on the side of the flash closest to her at 9:14 you can get rid of that sheen on her skin for those of you that don't like that haha.
I also like AWB but I've been using Sonys flash WB and it has a really nice warm look. I dont setting it to sunny or cloudy when using flash outdoors. It's either AWB or flash. That works best for me.
I’m not sure of the model number but if it’s the one with the spin out reflector… I’m getting that for design alone! And yes, that will give you the look. The one closer to the camera body will work- not the exact look- but may give you a bit more red eye
How powerful are this flashes in compare to normal speedlight? How many stops? I have a6600 and big flash on top is very bulky. Shooting real estate and going to shoot wedding photography this year.
For what its worth I also have an a6600 and i love this over my V1 for that little camera. It's much lighter than the V1. I can shoot fully backlit subjects against the sun. Cant recommend this flash enough.

Thank you so much!
Same flash as I have on my Fuji. You shared some creative ways to make the light more appealing - very useful John.
More then happy to share.
The bounce off the pop up panel is an idea I never thought of.
It works great. Limits your movement a little unless you are hand holding the reflector.
@@kaskoPhoto it's a great idea. I have a reflector in my car almost all the time. It's a great Idea.

Best tt350 review on yt. Awesome shots!
The you
Lovely light and beautiful shots.
Thank you
THIS WAS AN AWESOME SHOOT. THAMKS FOR SHARING IT. 👍
Thanks for watching!!
You demonstrated some wonderful ideas with that flash. Thanks!!
You are very welcome. They work and are a lot of fun to soften an on camera flash setup.
@@kaskoPhoto I have the same flash and I use the Magnet Mod’s Magsphere and Magsphere.
@@djtruedomination I know they are great but I hate the weight.
@@kaskoPhoto that rhymes!
I've used my wife's Godox tt350 and it's a great little flash. I have a couple AD200 that I primarily use for my portraits.

Great to see you at work, thanks!

Great video 👍 I always a flash bender card mounted on my flash and get fantastic results
Really awesome channel name!
Thank you
Great Video!
Thank you for watching
Thanks for sharing.
Great video and photos! What ISO were you shooting at?
Was the tt350 on the bracket being controlled by the v350 via optical signal or is there a radio frequency controlling the tt350 from the v350?
Nice work on this video. I use a TT350F and remote with my Fujifilm gear, love it.
It is a nice little unit.
Beautiful fall off on the lens you are using.

Well even 350 is great! Like the flash a lot though.
Very interesting and informative video.
Would you please give details about the hand-held white card that you used. Thanks
It’s just a popup white balance disc. You can find them on Amazon I’m sure.
@@kaskoPhoto Thanks
Hi , what camera and what lens have u used for this setup?
I used the Canon R5 with the 50 1.2

It would help reduce - but some people just have skin that would show that in a dark closet 😂
Do you adjust your white balance when doing this? Is it just set to flash or do you adjust manually? Great video and thanks for sharing.
Actually I am a stickler for setting white balance normally - but this shoot was done on auto white balance.
@@kaskoPhoto understood..Thanks!

50 1.2
@@kaskoPhoto Je vous remercie ! Sur un plein format ou un Apsc ?
whats the smallest flash that does HSS?
Well I think that’s a wide net. Discounting brand specific flashes, I’d have to say the Godox 350
Who is the model?
Just a local girl.
Godox 350o totally disappointed me as from start to finish it didn’t work. Used 6 batteries for 60 photos and all pics came out dark. I sent it back
