- We are continuing to renovate our 5th wheel. This video shows how we constructed a U-shaped dinette booth that houses tons of storage and also converts into a large couch or sleeping area. Main materials used… 2x2’s, 1x2’s, MDF, 1/2” plywood, drawer rails and recycled drawer pulls.

Thank you for watching. We’re happy with the convenience of the stand. It allows for more leg room than other set ups and doesn’t require us to assemble/disassemble legs and then have to store parts elsewhere. BUT our table is long and HEAVY so it’s not as stable as we would have liked. Yes we would buy it again, but we would make the table top lighter for sure. We bought this but paid less than it’s listed for here and we got it in black…

This is a lovely seating area, but the video isn’t really a “how to” with steps. Time lapse is too fast to see any of the steps.
It’s more of a “here’s an idea of something you could do for this situation” for people that are handy enough to understand what’s going on in the construction. It would be impossible and very boring to try and explain EVERY cut and EVERY measurement for how to make this SPECIFIC design that was created SPECIFICALLY for this application.

We ordered ours from west marine but you can get them on Amazon. Just google telescoping table base and a bunch of options should pop up:)
I was hoping for dimensions. This has been my plan. However I want to make it 2 pieces to be set apart or together, 2' center. 12' slide. Did you consider weight ? Or is your RV permanently placed ?
The fifth wheel is permanently placed…but these materials used are really light, the table itself is a little heavy but nothing that I’d be worried about hauling. The dimensions are going to vary given your space, so the dimensions of our setup aren’t really helpful. Just measure the area and design it according to how it will fit. If you have a telescoping table pedestal or some kind of callable table leg set up, design the bench to be the same height as the table when it’s in the down position to make it flat (for the “bed”) without height adjustments.
Understand dimensions based on what you have, but it would have helped had you documented what your dimensions were in the 5th and your dimensions for what you created. Give us an idea of the ratio you used. Looks strong and well built, but have to pause and screenshot to capture design.

What’s the black thing you used for the table
It’s a marine telescoping table leg. It’s typically used for boats.
Where did you get the shiplap...
We made it be ripping down sheets of 1/8” underlayment (plywood). Always cut them into strip widths that go into 48” evenly to avoid unnecessary waste of materials. Don’t forget to account for the blade width of 1/8” s part of your plank width when calculating.
