Wood Turned Walnut Bowl with Diamond Pattern

  • I have a walnut bowl that I roughed turned several years ago and it's now dry and ready to be finished. It is in good shape and has not cracked during the drying process. I decided to add 2 rings at the rim of the bowl. I wanted to do the segments with an angled cut to give the seams between the segments an angle. I used this to make a diamond pattern of padauk within walnut rings. The finished bowl is a solid walnut base with the rim of walnut with a diamond pattern.

Never noticed a stutter, but it came out as you were talking about it. It took courage to not edit that out and show your vulnerability (as well as helping a foundation who is helping others). I already enjoyed your videos, but this adds to the respect I have for not only what you do, but who you are as a human being.

Honestly I unironically smashed that like button when he was talking about it and he paused... it was obvious it was a vulnerable thing for him to admit and to leave that it is class. You see all these big youtubers being fake as hell while being adamant about the fact that they're not and they're still 'totally real' at 20 mil subs, but this man right here is the definition of real and shows TH-cam has not lost all that makes it great.

what I noticed is that he talks very slowly and carefully, but I think I never once heard a single "uhm", which is quite admirable I think. Maybe we all should learn to talk a little more slowly and deliberate.
But yes cozy is the right word. I always feel like I'm at my non-existing grandpas cabin in front of a fireplace during chistmas and he tells me a story when I watch Franks videos lol

Had the privilege and honor to meet you at WIA in Kansas City. Was never once taken back by your speech. The wealth of knowledge that you gave me for the few minutes we talked will always stay with me. I and I'm sure I can speak for many others that have met you in person are truly grateful for the content you put out on a regular basis, but the best thing is actually getting those few seconds or minutes to interact with you. Don't ever shy away from the meet and greet opportunities if they come knocking. You sir are inspiring in so many more ways than woodworking and owning a giant CNC.

From having a severe stutter as a child to having learned to cope with it(through hard work and speach therapy and possibly out growing it a bit). It's mild now and only really comes out when I'm stressed or upset. It still made me choke up a bit seeing frank talk about his stutter. Even 4 years after the video was published. It's a hard thing and it's inspiring. I'm glad to see someone with the same thing as me in the same space. Thank you frank. For everything you do

I've never noticed the stutter either, Frank! And I guess that's more evidence that my 8th grade speech therapist was right. I stutter too and she helped me understand two things. First, everyone has "non-fluencies" (just listen to all the "umm"s and "ahh"s on TV) and second, I'm much more aware of it than anyone else. It helps to be talking about something you're an expert in, and this is a perfect subject for you. Fabulous and inspiration work as usual! Thank you!

Beautiful bowl. In childhood I was a stutterer and it was crushing mentally. I'm in early old age now and when I'm socialising it comes the fore again so I put it down to stress. I therefore don't go out much. However, I once knew a senior judge (now deceased) who had a serious stutter and he ploughed on through legal arguments etc.

I don't have a stutter but I have struggled with clinical depression and I think as we share our weaknesses it is encouraging to others to see what great achievements we can make regardless of those weaknesses. We all have them but there is, I think, a tendency within our culture to want to hide them and pretend we're... perhaps not perfect, but... perfectly together or something.
